town. For this purpose, she has proposed the conduction of an Autumn Festival, engaging the
active participation of the individuals of the community. I, Sally Badawi, am the Executive
Officer of the Bilby Community Cultural Council, and am pleased to announce the aid that
the BCCC will be providing in giving shape to the strategic directions of the mayor for her
vision of NewBilby. Today, I will be particularly focusing on the plans that can be adopted in
order to ensure the development of the social and economic sustainability of the communities
in Bilby through not only the conduction of the Autumn Festival, but also the construction of
permanent housings in the town for the Sudanese resettlement program.
The rich history and culture of the town of Bilby has enabled the people residing in
the communities to celebrate their differences and diversity. The Bilby Community Cultural
Council is proud to announce that our contract with BuildStrong Constructions will be able to
provide permanent homes for a large number of individuals in the town of Bilby and under
the guidance and support of the mayor. This project has been undertaken in order to bring
about a social development in the town and integrate different communities and cultures.
Such an amalgamation of people will further aid the communities of Bilby to develop further
and build strong and sustainable relations with one another. Furthermore, the sponsor ship of
the Agostini’s Country Pleasures Wine and Dine Spectacular will help the Bilby Business
Network to host an Autumn Festival in the town, which will enable the people from the
different communities of the town to participate in economic activities including the selling
and purchasing of handmade and recycled products. The theme of this festival highlights the

responsibility of the town and its people towards the environment, simultaneously aiding in
bringing about an economic development for the people.
These two projects will surely be highly beneficial and advantageous to not only the
overall development of the town but also the social and economic development of the
individuals. The adoption of the proposed schemes of permanent housing facilities for the
Sudanese resettlement program and the green themed Autumn festival can help the citizens to
build a better future for themselves in the town of Bilby. The multicultural events to be held
at the Autumn festival will further aid the people belonging from different communities and
cultural backgrounds to interact with each other, enabling an exchange of values along with
the development of the economy of the town. The construction program on the other hand
will provide an added impetus to the potential of the success of the Autumn Festival as the
Sudanese resettlers will also be able to participate in the festival, enriching it with their
unique values, culture and products that they will be offering for sale at the festival.

The Bilby Community Cultural Council has planned to host and conduct several
events at the Bilby Autumn Festival in order to support the NewBilby schemes proposed by
the Mayor.
On account of the recent speech by the newly appointed mayor of the town, the
BCCC has decided to actively participate in the proposed plan in order to provide assistance
in the development of the social and economic sustainability of the town. These activities will
include the arrangement of a multicultural choir from among the people of the town at the
opening ceremony of the Festival. Furthermore, a community trade fair will also be held on
the second day of the festival in order to promote the sales of the local farmers as well as the
small business of the town. Additionally a handicraft trade will be held on the third day

environmental sustainability of the town. This shall also include the setting up of eateries and

community.
The entire event will be covered by the local media as well as through various social
media platforms and the website of the Bilby Community Cultural Council. The Times, The
Rural Times and the Bilby Tribunal will also be covering the event so that the people of the
