Speech of Edmund
The character found him in “the plague of custom and permit” because in the situation he
found himself as the curiosity of nation was depriving him. Moreover, the character felt as
the fourteen moonshines lag of brothers and the mental state was in full of anger. The
character found himself a baseless person mainly because no one likes him due to his
audacity. On a contrary, the character was seemed to be a desperate personality when he
demanded the land property desperately without any hesitation. However, the key themes of
each speech denoted some significant factors such as greediness for land or property,
insulting mankind and the lordship and deep bitterness for his brother’s love.
On the other hand, the development and deterioration of this character were followed when
the Gloucester said about the last eclipse in the moon and sun which prorogated no presence
of God for the humans. Then Edmund replied that this is excellent foppery of the world
which introduced a sick fortunate based on his own behaviors surfeit. It denoted to the
feelings of being guilty related to disasters of the sun, stars and moon based on the villain’s
necessity. Besides, the character felt like down to earth, based on the predominance by an
enforced obedience of planetary influence. Therefore, it had been identified that Edmund
alone, crows over the feeling that how lucky he was to have a good father and brother. The
reason behind such kind of thinking was his family members did not make him liable for any
kind of fault. Finally, Edmund declares that he was very sure to get Gloucester's land. It
showed overconfident mentality based on the character’s own wits which made the character
more devils.

Speech of King Lear
According to this speech, King Lear found himself in a significant condition where the
character was going to express his important decision. Therefore, the character demanded his
kingdom's map because he was going to divide his entire kingdom among his three daughters
and sons-in-law, Cornwall and Albany. It reflected a judgmental situation of the character
where he was going to take the important decision for dividing the kingdom’s will. Moreover,
the mental state of the character was found by analyzing the line “In three our kingdom and
‘tis our fast intent to shake all cares and business from our age.” This implied the mental state
of the character who wanted to handover all his power and wealth to his younger daughters
and get rid of the stressed mental state.
However, the key theme of this speech could be examined through the future vision of King
Lear who did not want any kind of rivalry among his loveable daughters. Likewise, the line
indicates that several dowers and future strife prevention were mentioned by King Lear.
Moreover, the first intention of the character reflected determined thinking which supported
the main purpose of the speech. However, this speech also denoted to a deterioration of the
character when King Lear decided to ignore territory interest as well as state care rules.
Moreover, he wanted to know who loved him more because he would provide his entire
Kingdom to that person. Therefore, the King decided to extend his largest bounty to his
daughter who would be able to prove that she loved him most. Such kind of thought has made
King Lear lose his original position, making him liable for his own mistake.
