FRAMEWORKS: Theories of social change, concepts of adolescence.
RATIONALE: Adolescence is the period of great changes in the behavior, psychology of an
individual. With the increasing advent of the usage of internet, the teenagers are found to be
highly addicted to internet and they are developing great connection with people they meet
online. The aim of the article was to understand the impact of internet on adolescence.
METHODS: The study was based on primary quantitative data. A survey was conducted
among the teens who were engaged in online activities and peer networking in order to
increase the intimacy and friendship among themselves. 251 students ranging between the
age 13 and 19 years were the participants. The responses were reviewed by two other authors
and the analysis was conducted based on the coding of responses by themes.
FINDINGS: The teenagers using the internet to make new friends and they are spending a
considerable time on the virtual space. The increased usage of internet creates great intimacy
among the teenagers and they develop good bonding or friendship with each other.
APPLICATIONS: Teenagers are very comfortable with the technology and internet and thus,
any curriculum based on these applications could be fruitful. Teenagers are highly addictive
to the usage of the internet and they are found to develop good bonding with others they meet
online (Zheng et al., 2016). If similar situation is made in the teaching curriculum as well,
there remains the potential of better learning.

CRITIQUE: According to Rusman, (2016) the increased use of internet can also lower the
level of concentration and seriousness on studies. In addition to this, the learners would be
completely detached from the existing world and they would rely on the virtual world that
they will be acquainted with.
ACADEMIC RESEARCH REFLECTION: After reading both the articles, I have understood
that it is very important to teach the learners practically, starting from hunting and fishing or
scaring the tigers. In the ancient time, everything was taught practically but in the recent time,
the virtual space is getting prominence and acceptability. According to the survey, today’s
youth are very comfortable with the internet based activities.

Part C: Reflection on where 21st century skills and technology can be integrated
With the increasing advent of technology, it has become very important to include
technological guidance to the students. In Part A of the task, the curriculum was designed to
teach the children English grammar. The different stages of English language can be taught to
these children in a better way if there digital learning in included in the entire process. It is
highly recommended that apart from the traditional usage of the props like the black boards
and the chalk, if the children are taught by the means of visual interaction, the outcome of the
teaching would be more beneficial (Battelleforkids.org, 2019). In fact, the ability to
remember the teaching will also increase as the children would visualise everything rather
than learning it and imagining it.
It can be said that the children at the 5th grade keeps the ability to grasp the knowledge
that is taught to them. English is the most important part of study as if they are not good in
English; it would be difficult for the children to express any subject of their domain. Thus,
each and every program should be taught to them with significant effort that they are able to
grasp it and learn it. In the 21st century, children have the skills to learn from the advanced
and technical means and thus, it would be fruitful to include technical way of teaching in the
curriculum.

After reading and analysing the three theories, I completely believe that in the recent
time, the usage of internet has definitely brought a change in the way of learning and
teaching. The learners are now more comfortable in learning and understanding things but it
is equally true that the usage of internet has just begun and in the primitive time people had to
completely depend on their own intelligence (Waterhouse, 2006). Their adaptability is more
depended on their surroundings and other things that they are familiar with.
As discussed in the emotional intelligence theory that the psychological, sociological
and other perspectives are equally important in understanding something. However, the
importance of the Mozart effect can be questioned because the learning and understanding of
a subject or other things cannot be depended on the type of music and the way the listener
listens to it.
