1EDICATION PEDAGOGY
The given case study is about Mr. Richard who used to taught social studies and history in the
Avoncourt college. He had worked there for 15 years. He was considered to be very popular by
all of his students and also by his colleagues. He believed in the philosophy of always raising
their voices and also in open mindedness. He also spread the policies of raising their voices and
in open mindedness among the students also. He also insisted in keeping good and fair
relationships with other students so that a strong bond is created in the whole class. Mr. Richard
thus follows the theory of open mindedness to teach his students. His teaching strategy is in line
with the liberationist approach of education.
The liberationist approach views the teacher as the one who always frees and opens the
minds of the learner or the student. The teacher according to this approach is the one who
initiates him or her in the human ways of assisting or knowing the student in becoming a well-
rounded and knowledgeable person and also in becoming a person having good moral values. In
the give case study, the students of the class see to have differentiated into three groups- one of
the groups included students who want much attention and guidance from the teacher. The
second group included students who always wanted to work independently and the third group
included students who were in between the two categories, who were basically self-directed and
at the same time wanted some guidance also. The teacher wanted his students to work
cooperatively so that he could have used the available resources to a great extent. The
liberationist approach completely believes in the philosophy of providing liberal education. The
main goal of this approach is to liberal the mind of the students for wondering, to know, to
properly understand, to imagine, to create and also to make the usage of full intellectual
inheritance of the cultured life. In the give case study also it is seen that the teacher deliberately

wants to manage each of the three groups so that all of those students can focus on the skills,
knowledge and the strategies for the assessments so that the daily performances of the students
get increased.
In the case study it is also seen that the teacher had identified one particular student, Tom,
who was a very shy boy and also always he used to remain on the edge of things. In the class, the
students used to sit alone in the corner and listened to the teacher. The teacher identified that the
boy was not communicating with the other students and so he even started the system of
socialization so that he can become friendly with the other students and also the students can
share their knowledge and ideas with each other. This approach of education system gives all
round development of the student. This theory believes that the education is the only way to
educate the students and also enhances the rational and critical thinking of the students so that
further in life the students are able to apply their knowledge and thoughts into actions.
