1INDIGENOUS EDUCATION AND PERSPECTIVES
Introduction
A short term goal of an individual is something that helps the person to make a change. It
is the goal that one wants to accomplish in the near future (Harackiewicz et.al., 2013). One must
have a clear short term goal so that it can help me to manage their time and can lead them
eventually to greater accomplishments (Mannn, DeRidder & Fujita, 2013). The thesis statement
of my research paper includes the personal reflection of how did I achieve my short term goals.
Discussion
Short term goal- 1:
My first short term goal was to make sure that I have enough time to complete my
assignments in the given time or to give myself enough time to work on the assignments and
complete them in the best manner possible. In order to achieve this goal, it was essential for me
to make a strategic plan, which involved setting aside dedicated amount of time everyday so that
I could effectively work on every course (Bansal & DesJardine, 2014). Since the time that I have
chalked out the plan, other family urgency had recently occurred due to which I cannot dedicate
enough time to my studies. There have been a recent crisis which has prevented me to manage
time and allot specific time to each subject. Moreover, the assignments that have been provided
are plenty in number as well as they are not interesting. The recent family emergency has created
distractions. Because of the large number of assignments, I tend to get bored easily and suffer
from writers block. Thus the short term goal of making sure to complete the assignments ion
time is not achieved. This goal needs to be readjusted in a manner in which I should be making a
schedule and make sure that I stick to it. I should be setting up deadlines and prioritizing the

tasks that need to be done. The most important thing that I should be doing in order to achieve
the short term goal is avoiding multitasking. Staying organized all throughout would make it
easier for me to have a clear picture of what I should complete and when.
Short term goal- 2:
The second short term goal that I have a desire of achieving is to find and obtain a part
time job. The part time job that acts as an investment for the future career would help me to learn
more and gain knowledge and experience. The primary requirement that I need to have is a
resume. In order to achieve this goal I should also make a calendar and chalk out a plan.
However, this goal of mine also faces a number of barrier and it becomes difficult for me to
achieve this goal. I suffer from anxiety since I started living in a new city. The shift from my
previous city have made it a bit difficult for me to adjust. Moreover, there is lack of
transportation, in the area where I live. This has been a serious problem and also there is split
availability. The school its homework does not allow me to chalk out the plan and work
accordingly. Moreover, the part time jobs require a resume, with at least proper qualification, as
well as academic excellence. I have not been that of a bright student earlier, and being a mere
school student, I do not have any experience or as such academic qualification. There have been
inexperience in the time management skills and I should be learning more of such skills that are
essential in the work environment. Thus in order to achieve this short term goal , the resume that
needs to be prepared must be attractive and must contain the appropriate details of the academic
achievement sand the personal values and experiences that is essential for the job qualifications
(Drucker, 2013).

Conclusion
Thus from the above discussion it can be concluded that the short terms goals that I have
which include giving myself enough dedicated time to complete the assignments in the best
manner possible and also to find a part time job. Both the short term goals though have the
primary purpose of achieving something big, are not accomplished due to the presence of
barriers and emergency situations. These barriers prevent the short term goals to gain success.
