Introduction
General education courses in school, college or a university are essential to complete
the minimum requirements of the general education. The same provide a wide umbrella of
learning opportunities in the form of varied range of subjects, training or a combination of
both. The thesis statement of the following work is that “for learners to prepare adequately to
do well in the chosen stream of their career, they need to have a set of applied, relevant and
practical curriculum which develops their core skills.” The work is aimed to evaluate the
skills learned by the learners through the subjects namely the writing, math, science, history,
psychology, and statistics.
Critical analysis and logical thinking
It is significant to note that the general education courses are comprised of wide range
of cross-section of subjects which facilitates building a broad base of knowledge among the
learners. One of the prime skills necessitated in the modern global workplace is the logical
skills (Cottrell, 2017). The courses that are designed taking into account the subjects namely
the science, statistics and mathematics, enhance the logical thinking capacity of the learners.
The ability to critical think and analyze a situation enables a professional at workplace to
resist the emotional and gut impulses, and therefore rather evaluates a situation in light of
