Introduction
Communication within business organisation is very essential in order to significantly
accomplish business objective effectively. At every stage proper flow of communication
is required in order to significantly identify each and every business related aspects
(Brink and Costigan, 2015). This report is based on Mr. Fishy which is a fish and chips
restaurant situated in Borough market near London Bridge Station. Currently the
respective organisation employs around 20 employees. However, issue within the
respective organisation is witnessed due to which conflict situation is created. The
outcome of this report aims to cover several aspects through which improvement within
respective organisation can be witnessed potentially. Several challenges as well as
barriers shall be identified in order to create effective communication.
Common challenges and barriers to effective communication
There are several challenges which an organisation faces through which overall business
performance as well as productivity is hampered. Furthermore, these challenges can be
effectively overcome by implementing several strategies (Cardon and Marshall, 2015).
With respect to Mr Fishy, the respective organisation is facing issues relating to lack of
communication and conflicts is witnessed due to Brexit. Following are challenges due to
which communication within respective organisation is affected:
Lack of Planning: Lack of planning is one of the most common kind of challenge which
hampers the overall business performance as well as productivity of an organisation. If
proper planning is not done goals of business can be never being achieved. Effective
communication essentially requires forethought. Therefore, Mr Fishy restaurant shall
properly plan business related activities.
Culture Barriers: Culture Barrier is also witnessed with Mr. Fishy, organisation this
because of Brexit. Wherein relation between British as well as non-British staff are not
good and there are several culture difference due to conflicts is observed.
Strategies for overcoming communication barriers
Several strategies might be adopted by Mr. Fishy in order to significantly overcome communication
barriers observed within respective organisation. Through implementation of these strategies, business
objectives are can achieved effectively. Following are some strategies adopted:
Training Session: Proper training session shall be conducted by respective restaurant wherein the
manager shall successfully aim at creating a friendly environment so that employees shall
communicate with each other (Coombs, 2015). Strategies might be adopted by which culture as
well as language barrier shall be overcome and employees are able to understand tone of their
colleagues.
Simple Organisational Structure: Organisation structure adopted by Mr. Fishy restaurant shall
not be complex in nature. Proper span of control within respective organisation must be followed.
Through this strategy proper interaction within employees shall be witnessed and conflict can be
solved.
Cultural influences on communication
Culture inherit by an organisation enormously impacts
the communication as well as negotiation process
effectively (Dulek and Campbell, 2015). However,
with Mr. Fishy restaurant culture adopted by different
employees is hampering the overall business
performance as well as productivity. Lack of
communication is observed within respective firm due
to Brexit. Therefore, implementation of proper
strategy is very essential in order to significantly
overcome this problem. Proper communication as well
as negotiation skills will highly enhance overall
potential of employees and the restaurant can
significantly accomplish their desired goals.

From the above report it can be summarised
that effective communication within an
organisation is potentially very essential in
order to successfully establish desired business
objective. However, there are several barriers
to communication which are observed within
business organisation. In order to overcome
these challenges various business strategies
might be implemented.
