INTRODUCTION
Effective communication is a procedure which is useful in exchanging thoughts and ideas
information with the aim of fulfilling it in best probable way. It represents the views of the
sender in the prominent manner to understand by the receiver. In this context effective
communication is a skill that leads to succeed the various aspects of life and also enjoy better
interpersonal relationship. It describe the two way process which include more than two people
in order to send and receive the messages. In this context communication serve as the foundation
of various fact of business among two and more individual with the objective of delivering and
understanding the message successfully (Thompson, 2018). It describes the procedure which is
used by many individuals and team members in order to keep updated and share relevant
information among them. The below report is based on the case study of an old woman who face
some health issues including mental health eating and relationship. Moreover she is currently
migrated to Australia with her medical records and also fined new Healthcare professionals to
continue her treatment. Besides from this to treat with the Healthcare professionals of Australia
there are some communication barriers which she faces because of different countries and
languages.

How would you develop rapport
A good rapport is useful in creating good relations with patients as it create close and
harmonious relationship with patients by understanding their feelings and properly communicate
with them. It is important for the Healthcare professionals to develop rapport with their patients
in order to reduce their stress level and connect with them to improve their health. In this context
there are various ways by which Healthcare professionals can build rapport with their patients by
maintaining proper eye contact with them as it is useful in communicating with more care and
compassion and also showing empathy and interest towards the situation of patient. Open
communication is another factor which is useful in improving the result of patient by
understanding their preferences and state of mind in order to keep changes in their health
condition (Oetzel, 2017). With proper and open communication Healthcare professionals can
encourage their patient to share their feelings with them. Active listening is the another factor by
which Healthcare professionals can understand their patients by prominently listening regarding

what their patient is saying and also check their patients to make sure the reflection is correct or

Communication strategies to facilitate effective communication
Active listening: According to this factor The Healthcare professionals need to properly
listen their patients in order to understand them and their trauma by which they are suffering
from. To actively listen their patients Health Care professional must have proper concentration
level that leads to make them more stable in order to listen there patient (Yap, Abdul-Rahman
and Chen, 2017). As because of this they can understand and focus on the wordings and tone of
their patient that is useful in the whole treatment. Active listening is not only useful in feeling
appreciated but also helps in making short the next point of the conversation from the side of
patient.
Try to maintain eye contact: In this context both the patient and Healthcare professional
need to maintain eye contact with each other as sometimes people can’t describe their feeling
with the wordings (Yildiz, 2017). In that case the body language and gestures of individual is
described by their eyes and by maintaining eye contact continuously Healthcare professionals
can understand the feelings and emotions of their patient. Therefore maintaining proper eye
contact during the conversation is the prominent way to describe that both are listening to each
other what is the important part of effective communication.
Open communication: It described that both the Healthcare professional and patient
must have good relation with each other as it is useful in maintaining open communication with
proper clarity. With the help of good relations patients can easily describe their emotions and
feelings to their Health Care professional which is useful by the professionals to understand the
trauma and issues of individual in more effective way (Toomey and et. al., 2016). In that context
open communication is also developed with the help of prominent conspiracy the patient and
professional as the patient does not hide anything from their Healthcare professional because it
can become barrier in the treatment.

By considering the case study of Florence Rossi she is currently migrated to Australia
and had known languages include Italian and English and because of currently migrated to
another place she start facing cultural problems as there are various differences in the culture in

Semantic barrier: This barrier is related with the language which is considered as the
most critical barrier for the cross cultural communication. In terms of Healthcare industry
communication is important to understand the feelings and emotions of individual. The language
barrier arises not because of differences language but also because of variety of dialects.
Therefore in this context if communicator is not aware regarding the proper meaning then it
leads to create misunderstanding among them (Reese and et. al., 2017).
Cultural norms and values: In this context each and every culture has their own values
and norms that are different from each other. In terms of this it arises because of truth judgment
and believes by which require knowledge regarding the culture and Society. It becomes the
reason why people want calm and quiet environment instead of crowded place.
Ethical considerations present in case
Communication ethics describe the moral principles it is useful in dealing with values
considering the human conduct and appropriateness regarding the suitable actions in order to
motivate appropriate activities. In this context the Healthcare communication influence the mass
media and perception of various individual by developing integrity and honesty among them.
Health communication describe the respect towards the personal autonomy and Justice as it is
useful in exchanging information between the Healthcare professional and patients which
involve informed consent concerning the nature and intervention of alternatives (Dragicevic,
2016). In relation with this Complex explanation is balanced by the ability of the public and
complex issues considered the benefits and risk regarding the screening of disease that should be
carefully handled in order to avoid misunderstanding and misrepresentation. In this context in
order to communicate with the Healthcare professional consider their ethics including proper
safety measures there code of conduct and honesty with their patient which is useful in
conveying proper information including accurate clear accountable honest and decent way that is
capable to make suitable decision based on the information which is provided by the patient
(Mercer-Mapstone and Kuchel, 2017).

By considering the health conditions of Florence Rossi she is suffering from mental health
and need proper diagnosis and cancellation regarding her mood swings at the time and because
of this she need proper and regular meditation. By considering the disease she is suffering from
the risk factor is low to her and others as well. By evaluating her mental conditions she need the
professional help up with Psychiatrist in order to overcome from her mental issues which sea
face bye not feeling like herself and not feel connected with other people. Moreover she also
needs the help from Neurophysician as she is suffering from sleeping issues that can cause
insomnia and leads to loss of appetite. Along with this she also needs treatment from the
Nutritionist as she is suffering from weight loss and all her health issues are related with each
other that are started with mental peace. In this context Florence Rossi also need regular
meditation in order to develop mental peace within her mind that leads to reduced all these
mental health issues and useful in diagnosing them. In this context the Healthcare professionals
need to include honesty and integrity in their behavior while communicating with the patient.
Along with this context Florence Rossi face language and semantic barrier in order to develop
proper communication with their health professionals. As the Healthcare professionals of
Australia use more medical terms that are not understandable by her that leads to develop
miscommunication among both of them. In this context the Healthcare professionals of Australia
need to use more simple terms in front of their patients by which they can easily understand the
perspective of these professionals.
CONCLUSION
By considering the above information it is analyzed that effective communication is
important as it is useful in developing clarity in the whole communication process and makes it
more transparent in order to understand. In this context the communication and the message from
the sender in more simple terms which is easy to understand by the receiver and for this the
sender must need to take feedback in order to complete the whole communication process.
Moreover there is various communication barriers that are arises while communicating with
others but for each and every barrier they are prominent strategies that are useful in overcoming
those barriers.
