INTRODUCTION
Cooperation among people working together is essential for managing successful business
changes. The assessment will outline different forms of organisational communication which can
be implemented by Fairy tale travel tourism which is expanding its resort in Sri Lanka but is
facing communication barrier due to terroirs attack on luxury hotels. Further, it will outline
principles of effective communication which can be implemented by marketing director for
managing interdepartmental cooperation.
MAIN BODY
Literature review
According to Dupe, 2015, organisational communication plays a crucial role in managing
inte-departmental communication between employees as it reflects the process of flow of
information from one person to another. There are different forms of organisational interactions
like downward, upward, horizontal, written, formal and informal. As per the view of Ayob,
2017, downward communication in an organisation reflects flow of information from high level
to lower level which is effective when the firm wants employees to work according to given
direction. This is essential for managing effective interdepartmental communication because in
this managing or directing person passes same information to every person which is for common
business goals. The main purpose of downward interdepartmental interaction is to make
employees understand their duties and responsibilities. Principle of downward interaction is
reinforcement of company’s vales of cooperation.
However, Moore and Morton, 2017, stated about written communication which is
necessary of managing transparency of information. This is a form of interaction which helps the
firm in managing cooperation among employees of different department assist connects
individual on same grounds of information and authority. Principle of written communication is
clarity information in one direction whereas purpose of written interaction is building of
interdepartmental employees’ relationship, trust and integrity. Written communication plays a
crucial role in managing cultural barrier in communication as in this motive of management is on
developing trust among individuals which supports diversity in opinion and ideas. Informal
communication among employees is another way of manging diversity and effective
communication among staff of different departments. This form of interaction is based on social

relationship of employees as helps the business sin managing external barrier which arise in
dynamic business environment.
Austin and Pinkleton, 2015, outline principles of effective communication that can assist
marketing direction of Fairy Tale tourism organisation in reducing barrier of communication
when expanding after terrorism attack. Principle of clarity and simplicity is the best way to
encourage employee’s involvement and pass relevant information to staff. Further, principle of
compass and integrity support diversity of opinion of employees when working together. In
accordance with situation like interdepartmental communication in Fair tale resort marketing
director can focus on integrity employees view to manage market communication to visitor
attention. Further, interdepartmental communication can be effective managed and enhanced by
focusing alternativeness of option in employees’ ideas and opinion. Considering staff views over
work is the best to promote and improve interdepartmental communication and reduce barriers of
interaction.
As per the author Verghese, 2017, building a good communication in the work place is
very essential for the Director as it help the employee in giving their best for the organization
and also helps the director in reducing the situation of issue creation and helps in defending
challenges. Director generally uses practices like organizing the formal and informal meeting in
the organization at a regular time interval and all the employee are invited and asked to share
their point of view in front of each other which helps the employee feel comfortable in the
organization in which they are working, Director also gives the group assignment to the
employee in the organization which force the employee to have a discussion with each other
before taking any step toward the completion of task which eventually helps the employee in
building a good relationship in the organization and the most common practice which is used by
the director is building a good relationship between the employee in the organization by the way
of teaching all the employee the benefits of working together and the importance of other in
completion of their work.

Organization used to follow the Downward flow of communication in the organization in
which senior authority of the organization used to take all the decision in the organization and
passes on the same to the all level of subordinate in the organization which is beneficial for the
organization it helps the organization in passing on the same information to all the employee in

the organization which creates a clarity of the mind in the organization and also helps the
organization in reducing the situation of the issue creation in the organization as all the employee
are equally treated in the organization, not only that Downward communication helps the
organization in communicating the roles and responsibility to the employee which they are
expected to full fill, Organization is able to implement the downward communication very
successfully but sometimes fails to pass on the view to the subordinate as all the employee are
from the different culture and background and find it difficult to adopt the decision of the senior
authority. As The principle of downward interaction is reinforcement of company’s vales of
cooperation and the organization also used to follow the same by passing on their values to the
subordinate (Keyton, 2017).
Written communication is the other form of communication used by the organization as it
help the organization in maintain their information transparency. Principle of written
communication defines that the written communication is the direction toward the employee to
bring the clarity and clarity always build a good relationship among the department and
employee, In the organization also all the department is guided to do all the formal
communication by the medium of the written communication which helps the organization in
building the good relationship in between the department, at the same time it also helps the
organization in seeing all the communication in the organization which helps the organization in
keeping the transparency of data in the organization (Ploeger‐Lyons and Kelley, 2017).
It has been analysed that an effective communication between different functional unit in
an organization is very much essential in order to expand business at international level. The
other fact which has been analysed is that communication barriers which is faced by the Fairy
tale organization is due to difference in culture and language. It has been analysed that the other
barriers to communication between different functional unit could be distance, time, distractions,
noise etc. The other fact which has been analysed that main purpose of communication is to
ensure smooth flow of information between the different organization which is very much
essential for successful expansion of business expansion in other country (Quintanilla and Wahl,
2018. ).

It has been analysed that According to the 7c's communication theory the key principles
of effective communication that can be applied by Fairy tale for ensuring smooth flow of
information are completeness, concreteness, courtesy, correctness, clarity, considerations and
conciseness. The thing which has been analysed is that in case of the complex message to be
shared between different functional department that the sender is required to share additional
information. It has been analysed that clarifying of the message is very much essential in order to
avoid misunderstanding and confusion. The other fact which has been analysed is that
concreteness is one of the principle of an effective communication which is mainly related to the
clear message. This principle of effective communication states that the words which are utilised
as well as structure of sentences could be interpreted Uni-vocally. It has been analysed that
courtesy includes the feeling. In context of fairy tale , marketing team in an enterprise need to
approach the audience in friendly manner. The employees in particular department while sending
message to worker in other functional unit is required to utilise such respect which shows
respect for the receiver as it will help in ensuring effective communication.
It has also been analysed that correct use of language in very much crucial specially in
context of written business communication (Nomura, 2018). It is use of the proper language
while facilitating the written communication that assist in building the trust.
The recommendation to employees working in different department in fairy tale
organization is to formal language while interacting through E-mail or other source. It has been
