INTRODUCTION
Corporate social responsibility is basically the approach in which organizations make a
well-through commitment to contribute towards the welfare of society and thus remain
accountable to the stakeholders. The role of CSR is imperative in hospitality industry where it
helps the hotels to apply CSR in most apparent way. This report addresses the ways which the
managers in hospitality use for implementing CSR effectively.
MAIN BODY
Corporate social responsibility is basically the management approach in which the
organizations tens to integrates social as well as environmental concerns within the business
operations to have a positive impact on overall society. In general, it covers sustainability, ethics
as well as social impacts and thus forms the core values of each and every organization. It has
always been imperative of the way which the managers of particular hotels make use of CSR for
motivating their employees. It has been reported that the perception of managers regarding CSR
activities in their hotels are underpinned and thus it becomes essential to carry out socially
responsible actions in hotels which will build positive behaviour in the employees, and they will
contribute their best towards making the hotel a success. The managers of hotel Hilton are key
towards motivating the employees and thus enhancing their overall performance. There are
various ways through which the managers of Hilton can apply the CSR and thus can establish its
position in the market. The most important way is the use of leadership style (Kim and
et.al.,2018). This is the most important and significant way which will have a profound impact
on the satisfaction level of employee. If the leaders of the hotel emphasizes on the correct
leadership style which will increase the productivity of employees then it will eventually lead to
the increase in motivation level and thus their overall performance will increase. Fort example- If
the leaders of Hilton creates a culture of cooperation and thus uses participative style where
opinion of all employees are considered the employees are likely to feel valued. Thus, the most
important factor and way which will help managers to apply CSR effectively is the utilization of
correct leadership style.
Another most remarkable way and strategy which will help the managers of hotel to
inculcate a culture of ethics and positivity is encouraging the employees to participate more and
more. This is one of the well-proven way and tactic which creates an environment of healthy
employee relation at workplace. The managers should encourage their employees to participate

in various events and another activities being held by hotel. For example- when Hilton sponsors
events for demonstrating its commitment towards employees then motivating and encouraging
them to participate in this event is essential for the manager as through this, the employees will
communicate with other employees and employees of other organization. This effective
communication will lead them towards success and thus will eventually increase their self-
confidence.
Another way in which managers of the hotel can promote CSR and thus apply it at the
workplace is recognizing the attitude of employees towards work (Kang, Lee and Yoo, 2016).
This basically means that motivating them by providing them with various rewards for their
positive behaviour. Rewarding the employees for their excellent behavioural increases their
motivation level, and they perform their work with more enthusiasm and commitment. For
example- The managers of Marriott hotel can provide rewards to their employees like promotion,
fringe benefits, monetary benefits etc. This eventually lead to the creation of harmonious
working relation in hotel and thus the productivity of employees will also increase. This means
that they will serve the customers and guest more appropriately due to which there will be
goodwill of hotel within market.
One of the most well-known way through which managers of hotel can inculcate a
culture of CSR and thus apply it is flourishing the internal environment. CSR not only builds by
only satisfying the customers and making a good image in their minds but the main key behind a
successful CSR is integrating the aspects of values and ethics within hotel (Singal and Rhou
2017). Managers of the hotel should analyze the internal environment and thus find ways
through which the skills and knowledge of employees will increase. For example- the managers
of hotel Marriott should provide training as well as bear all the cost which is related to skill
development. This will help to build a positive working relation within hotel and will shape the
skills of staff. Thus, flourishing the culture of appreciation within company will help to build
CSR and in this managers can apply CSR. The benefit of this reward is that employees will get
motivated and hence they will greet the customers with more commitment. This will make a
good impression within the minds of guests.
The most important and the significant way which manages can use for applying CSR is
creating the healthy competition within hotel (Guliani, 2016). The perception of managers
regarding CSR is that more the employees remain engaged in their work more they provide

zone and thus can provide more challenging work to the employees like attracting international
tourists. This will eventually create healthy competition among employees and will work more
productively. Thus making the employees to step out of the monotonous work and taking on
more job responsibilities will build a culture of cooperation and healthy working relationship.
Thus, this is the most effective way in which organizations can easily apply CSR within their
hotels.
CONCLUSION
It has been summarized that the managers of hotels can use variety of way for applying
CSR and thus the way which they choose should be in favour of the employees, customer and
overall organization. Most important strategy and way is motivating the employees through the
use of appropriate leadership style. This will eventually increase their motivation level and thus
will create a culture of positive relation.
