INTRODUCTION
The file is about leadership skills and literature review on the same. The communication skills
used by leaders at various junctures prove their mettle to motivate people and get their focus on
achieving organisational goals. Leaders use different form of communication at various
platforms and communication is done in a manner which suits the environment of the occasion.
Literature review
According to Mokhtar and et.al.(2019), leaders have to present speeches at various junctures.
This requires effective communication skills. Communication has to be clear, precise and easy to
understand by the audience. A leader has to present speech according to the situation present at
the organisation. It can be a situation where a leader has to give speech to motivate employees
after monitoring their work. The Fries, Kammerlander and Leitterstorf (2020) emphasises that
leader has to include features of appreciation, motivation and at the same time an evaluatory
approach. It should be such that employees are able to receive the feedback of their work and at
the same time get motivated for future tasks. The leader has to be in knowledge of motivational
quotes and phrases which can encourage and infuse enthusiasm in employees.
As spoken by Mokhtar and et.al.(2019), there arise different situations where the leader
has to take on different situations to address different gatherings. For instance, a leader has to
address a motivational college seminar. The leader will be using a one-to-one communication
approach here which can also be termed as open-ended. Here, the students will be able to ask
questions as this is an open ended speech. The manner in which leader will deliver the speech
will be more of friendly nature and interaction based. The leader has to tell about own
experience, his faults and own success. The speech is also framed in an inspiring manner which
can motivate students. Personal examples given in communication always helps the audience to
relate with the speaker.
As said by Geerts, Goodall and Agius(2020), the leader has to make the speech one with
clarity. The speech should not have ambiguity and audience has to get the message clearly of
what has been instructed. For instance, a CEO has to address organisation employees in wake of
the next financial year approaching. The leader has to avoid criticism of the previous mistakes

which happened in the previous year but make the communication a motivating one focusing on
the laurels achieved and the future tasks which lie in front. The Fries, Kammerlander and
Leitterstorf (2020) says that the CEO has to be assertive and have clarity in the communication
so that employees are clear about the future goals.
As spoken by Laureani and Antony (2019), the body language skills of the leader matters
as people can judge how confident is the leader while speaking. It actually has a way of
connection with the audience. If the leader's body language is more of an open nature, using
posture of hands to explain the matter, good eye contact and conversing pleasantly with a smile
then audience will listen patiently to the leader. The audience will also connect with thinking
positively about the leader and can give their inputs or ask queries to the leader.
As illustrated by Smith and et.al.(2018), talking of an organisation, say a director is
giving speech to the investors of the company. Investors would like to see the genuineness in the
speech. The orator has to weigh the words carefully and observe transparency in the
communication. The director has to maintain a formal communication while addressing the
investors and talk them with transparency of company's goals, liabilities, upcoming opportunities
in form of projects etc. The investors would judge by the mannerism in speech and connect with
the director. The director will here be using a convincing mode to get investors align with the
company that company will be safeguarding their interests.
As said by Geerts, Goodall and Agius(2020), the ability to adapt communication style is
yet another feature. It may happen that a manager has to give a speech to make employees
achieve target and at the other time receive guests of the company as visiting dignitaries. While
talking with employees, the manager has to be in instructive with a bit of motivative mode to
realise the importance of situation. While welcoming guests and addressing them at podium, the
manager has to mould the gesture in a friendly one with use of appropriate body language and
exhuberating a sense of pleasantness and warmth.
As pointed out by Laureani and Antony (2019), a real leader is the one who receives and
implements feedback of the audience. There is always a scope of improvement in the
communication and a leader who incorporates feedback helps in making the communication an
effective one. The barriers in communication will get removed thus inspiring the audience and
making a connect instantly whenever they meet a second time.

CONCLUSION
It has been said that effective communication is an evolving process. The leaders all over the
world have used methods to constantly improve upon the communication process and public
speaking skills. People are renowned for their oration, their content and ideas which if
implemented can be advantageous for the society and also inspire future generations.
