INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT
Introduction and Purpose of the Essay:
In the present times, along with the changes all across the world, in all the aspects of the
social, political and economic life, the workplaces are also going through major changes. The
workplaces are becoming more and more diversified, in terms, of language, culture,
orientation, gender and age. The social analysts and the industrialists are of then opinion that
a diversified work culture is more potential to include change and growth (Rothman. 2016).
However the present situations of the workplaces have upheld that the age is becoming a
driving factor of change at the workplaces. The industrialists and the market analyst believe
that the present industry has a culture of start- ups and innovation, and the generation Z, is the
key factor of initiating change into the culture.
Therefore, the present essay will focus upon the generation Z at the workplace and the
contribution and the changes that have taken place due to the same will be analysed. In this
light, the article by Schroth and a video by Chip Conley, will be included for the analysis.
Paragraph on Schroth Article:
The article starts with the concept of Generation Z, and talks about the rising number of
generation Z, into the business houses. According to Holly Schroth, the generation Z is the
most diversified generation as they are borne into a world which is already diversified.
Therefore, the ideas and the orientations they have, vary greatly than those already working
in a company, or rather than those who have gained an experience (Desai and Lele. 2017).
This generation has a different view of the world, and are more focused on initiating change
into the picture. The author has argued that this generation is a generation to reckon with, as
they are potential of new thoughts and new perspectives, and they are much fast paced
(Schroth. 2019). Therefore, the author has stated that the business houses must be ready to get
along with them and their ideas. The author has also argued that the modern generation will

initiate more mobility within the structure, mostly horizontally, and there will be more
diversified roles and segments within the structure of the organization. The author has also
opined that professional development is the driving force for this generation and they are
more oriented towards growth and stability (Iorgulescu. 2016).
Paragraph on Chip Conley:
Chip Conley is an entrepreneur, who has first pointed out that there are five generations in a
workplace today, and also stated that there will be one member of generation Z among every
five employees at the workplaces, in the USA (Tulgan. 2013). He argued that this generation
believes in trends in all aspects of their life, and that includes their professional life as well.
He also stated that this generation is believes in breaking the trends made by themselves and
create a new one, and is very flexible in their orientation (YouTube. 2019). Therefore, it
becomes very difficult to match their pace. The entrepreneur stated that the in most of the
organizations, people are being supervised by someone who is junior in age than theme.
Therefore, this may become a place where a situation of ego may get created, but in that case
the company will not be possible to get run. He has rightly pointed out that many employees
are getting benched and then finding it difficult to get a new job, as they are asked questions
upon the contributions they can make. He stated that the new generation is not driven by
experiences, rather they are driven by outcomes and knowledge, especially new knowledge
(YouTube. 2019).
Key aspects:
Therefore, as per the reading and the video the following key aspects have been deduced,
One, the new generation is easily getting placed in higher positions, with higher
authority and are therefore supervising people who are technically senior, by age.
Two, the new generation is driven by innovation and new knowledge.

Three, the new generation believes in diversity, both in job roles and job orientations,
and also in employee base.
Lastly, the new generation is fats, and believes in changes and this change has to be
innovative and trendy and believes in outcomes.
Conclusion:
Diversity can provide an organization with stronger base, and a diversified employee base
can result into innovative changes, within the organization. It is seen that a diversified
employee base with different cultural background, different languages and different age
structure, can include more changes, both structurally and product wise. Moreover, the age
gap within the organizational structure, with the younger members at a superior position, can
make the other employees a chance to learn, grow and initiate more innovation within the
organization.
