INTRODUCTION
Organisational communication is defined as a study which mainly focuses on
communication and necessary information flows around the organisation with the help of any
kind of media. It involves different types of communication like internal and external, oral or
written, directional and so on. There are various type of channels through which people working
in company communicates with each other. It is important for any company to have an effective
communication because it helps them in planning all kind of business activities and organising
them(Bossio and et.al, 2020). The main functions of organisational communication is to inform,
motivate and persuade. The below report involves general theories, barriers of communication,
certain strategies to solve all barriers followed by recommendations. The report is based on
business united. It is a college whose main mission is to solve the complaints and issues of all
students.
MAIN BODY
General theories of organisational communication
There are different theories of organisational communication like social learning theory,
social exchange and so on. In terms of organisational communication it is been explained as
below:- Social learning theory:- This theory is defined as a learning process as well as social
behaviour which defines new behaviours that are determined by observing other people.
In terms of college all students get to learn from other people as they observe them on
daily basis. In an organisation there are different type of students like one individual want
to learn different things, they are very much motivated but at the same time other student
may not care about anything so for this social learning theory is applied as all students
observe each other and apply on themselves.
Social exchange theory:- This theory defines social behaviour which is the result of an
exchange process. The main focus of this theory is to enhance all kind of benefits in an
organisation(Cadden and et.al, 2020). As in context with college the main thing is about
relationships. A student will communicate in a proper manner only if they are receiving
the same in return. It is applied in all kind of situations. As the most important thing is

There are different barriers of organisational communication like linguistic barriers,
psychological barriers, attitude barriers and many more. In context with these barriers it is been
explained as below:- Linguistic barriers:- In today's word the major barrier which leads to ineffective
communication is the language barriers as every individual has their own language due to
which many problems get arise(Oso and et.al, 2020). Even at the workplace it becomes
an issue because people may not be able to understand about other people language. As in
context with Business united there were many problems been faced by students and this
barrier is one of them. All students belong from different regions and they complained
that they are not able to work with other students because they are not able to understand
their language. Psychological barriers:- While doing effective communication there are many type of
psychological issues as well as mental problems due to the interaction between people
gets affected in negative way. There are some people who have certain disorders, speech
fear and it becomes difficult to manage those problems. As in context with business
united college, students complained that they need solutions for the problems which
many students are facing like they are not able to tackle their mental issues as in terms of
depression(Sorour, Boadu and Soobaroyen, 2020). Due to huge syllabus students are not
able to manage their time in spending on other activities. Cultural barriers:- It is one of the major barrier because each person belong from
different culture and they all perceive different meanings whether it is in terms of words,
food, religion and so on. Due to such barrier organisation communication gets affected
because people are not able to corporate with each other and don't feel comfortable while
communicating with other members. In context with business united also students
complained that due to different culture of other students, no one wants to do interaction
interacting with their teachers effectively then they also expect the same in return.
Both social learning and social exchange theory is important because for students
observing others and communicating with people is necessary as with the help of this only
people will interact with other and no conflict would get arise.

anything. Due to communication was not been properly done as people were not been
motivated to do something interesting rather than just focusing on studies(Atouba and
Lammers, 2020). When students don't show any interest then through this they didn't
want to communicate with their teachers also and they all complained that they want
some enthusiasm and entertainment in their sessions.
Strategies to overcome all barriers
As there are different barriers that occurs during organisational communication so
organisation has to enable different strategies so that these barriers can be solved. In context with

problems because students were not been able to communicate with each other(Darawad,
Mansour and Al-Niarat, 2020). So, to overcome such barrier college decided to use the
method of visual communication in which students get taught about different languages

each other. Psychological barriers:- As in terms of business united students were having certain
mental issues and they were facing depression due to the problem of huge syllabus they
were been studying. So, to overcome such barriers college reduced the syllabus and
initiate some time for students to spend on other activities like sports so that they feel
happy and their complaint regarding depression gets reduced. Cultural barriers:- There are many barriers which students faced while interacting with
other students. All students belonged from different cultures so to overcome those
barriers and deal with all complaints college adopted new educational system in which
details about different cultures are there are students get to know about that during their

RECOMMENDATIONS
It is been recommended that business united should use various type of strategies so that
effective communication can get enhanced in their college. The college should enable activities
like they should motivate their students to get indulge into communicating with other students
and take part in all activities where they get to know about other people also. It is also
recommended that more team work should be involved for all students because its the most
effective activity for establishing organisational communication. As many students belong from
different cultures so it is recommended that before involving them into a session a program must
be organised in which each student should get introduced with one another and they should get to
know about their culture also.

From the above report it is been concluded that organisational communication is the most
necessary thing to be enhanced. In any kind of company ineffective communication can create
many barriers so to deal with them different strategies should be adopted so that in future no
problems get arise. As people also belong from different cultures so they should get to know
about each other so that they can understand about other people languages and can effectively
communicate with everyone.
