Introduction
The parenting skill is one of the most necessary skills for the holistic development of the
child. The study mainly focuses on the communication and the discipline skills required by
the parents to communicate effectively with the children in implementing disciplines in
practical life. It is essential to have effective communication between the parents and the
child. Moreover, the end part of the study will include a summary of the plan needed to
implement the skill in a practical scenario.
Plan of care
The plan of care is a systematic pathway that helps the parents to acquire the important skills
needed for the parenting purpose. The plan of care for parenting defines the development of
moral sense among the children building effecxtive communication with them It can be
provided once or twice in a week. The plan must address the essential skills that are required
to perform supportive and adaptive attitude towards their child. There are several skills those
are included in that plan of care. The communication skill and the discipline maintaining
skill are considered to be two most prominent parenting skill (Sahoo, 2018).
Communication skills
Communication skill is one of the most important skills required for effective parenting of
the child. The most important thing is to engage the child in an age-appropriate topic for
communication. This is very important for the cognitive functioning of the child (Hong, Rhee
& Piescher, 2018). It is essential that the subject matter for communication should be
comprehensive and the content is appropriate for the child. It is important not to use any
language that may affect the mental stability of the child. The parents must pretend to be a
friend of the child during communication. Another important point is to respond to the
child's words and bubbling. The plan consists of an effective and efficient way by which
verbal prompts are taught to the parents in a proper way. Verbal prompts are important to
respond prominently to the child's sounds. The child must not feel that he or she is alone and
is avoided. The parent educator by different models of verbal and nonverbal communication
teaches the parents about an open-ended discussion with the child (Costantini, 2018). This
helps in the development of the cognitive ability of the child.

Discipline skills
The maintenance of discipline in a child's life is one of the most essential requirement.
Discipline skills are required for effective development of the child. Discipline skill includes
providing a safe and disciplined environment for the child. The plan consists of the
preparation of a checklist for the parents so that they may learn to implement a safe
environment for the child. Moreover, Discipline skill is required for the development of the
decision making abilities of the child (Dede Yildirim & Roopnarine, 2017). The parent
educator teaches the parents the technique to become disciplined during any decision making
process. If discipline skills are efficiently implemented it may help the child to differentiate
between a good and a bad decision.
Conclusion
The communication skill and discipline skill are the main skills required to perform parenting
in a prominent manner. The parent educator with the help of module and content through the
teaching care plan teaches the skills needed for parenting to the parents. Proper parenting
should result in the holistic development of the child.
