ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR 1
The key component of my effective Team
The case is being presented to highlight the key component of my effective team of which I
am a major contributor to enhancing team spirit within the organization. This case is
highlighting the way through which the team is built in our organization and its benefits. In
addition to this, the case is also highlighting the importance of workplace behaviour and the
issues that influence behavior in the workplace.
The way the team is developed in my organization
There are generally five stages that are followed in every organization for the development of
the team. In my organization, I and my colleagues were assigned to work on a project for
which I was responsible to develop the team by collaborating with the effective and best
candidate for attaining the assigned task. The five stages that were followed by all of us for
the team building are:
Stage 1: Forming
At the forming stage, all the selected members met with each other. All these teammates
never worked before together on single work, so it was exciting because all were experienced
and there was a higher chance of innovative ideas (Kumar, Deshmukh and Adhish, 2014).
However, there was a risk of task failure due to conflicts or misunderstanding among team
members.
In the first stage, we all the teammates were introduced with each other and were asked to
share something about our backgrounds, experience, and interest. We all were involved with
each other and were learning about the project and discussed the objective of the project.
Stage 2: Storming

Stage 2: Storming

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR 2
With the development of the team, the whole team moves towards the storming stage. This
stage was very essential for us, as all of us never worked with each other before in the past.
This stage was all about competing with each other for acceptance of idea and status. Every
teammate has different opinions regarding what to be done and how to be done which
resulted in different conflicts and arguments. At this stage, we all learned about how to solve
problems independently and together.
Stage 3: Norming
After reaching a norming stage we all started working effectively as a team. We all were
focused on developing new ways of attaining the goal and were not concerned about
individual goals. At this stage, we all started understanding each other and started respecting
each other thoughts and opinions. At the norming stage, we also agreed on working on team
rules together and strategies for resolving issues and conflicts.
Stage 4: Performing
At the performing stage out team started working at a high level. The major concentration
was on attaining the objective as a team. We all were aware of each other and trust was also
build among us. Whatever problem that we were facing, in the team we were easily able to
resolve it and when there is disagreement on any topic we used to work on that. At this stage,
our team leader Mr. X was not involved in any decision making and problem solving. The
team leader was only monitoring the progress of the task which was assigned to our team.
Stage 5: Adjourning
Adjourning was the stage when our project was coming to its end point and the team
members were planning to move again on different directions of their work. This stage in our
organization originally seemed like the well-being of the team in place of managing the team.
