INTRODUCTION
Effective teamwork is that in which all members perform their roles as per the
requirement of organisation and support each other in order to achieve the goals of company.
With the help of better communication effective team can be prepare which put maximum efforts
so that work can be done according to the need of corporation. To better understand this concept
Tesco has been chosen which is a British multinational groceries & general merchandise retailer
and belongs to United Kingdom. In this report, there are following topics are covered such as: to
discuss how well employers perform at communicating and theories has been also used which
help to reach a valid conclusion. It emphasis how workplace communication & performance of
employers can be improved.
TASK 1
How employers perform at communicating and use theory to draw a conclusion
Communication is the act of transferring the information from one place, person or team
of individuals. To communicate the information there is need of at least two parties in which one
party send the information and other party will receive the information. At workplace it is very
effective tool and provide help the organisation to achieve its objectives. With the help of it
ideas, thoughts, feelings and information can be communicate. It is important for Tesco to
communicate proper information and data to the employees so that they can perform as per he
requirement of company. At the workplace there are various real life experiences which are
related to the communication. Through the experiences an employer can learn the importance of
effective communication at workplace and it help the organisation to perform better and
accomplish its targets (West and Lyubovnikova, 2013).
There are various types of communication channels which involves verbal and non verbal
communication. It is important to work collaboratively so that work can be done smoothly. For
that purpose it is require proper communication among the individuals and it is the responsibility
of employer to guide the workers so they work as a team and put maximum efforts to meet the
goals. While working collaboratively there are various issues can be arise which are related to
confidentiality. When two employers are working collaboratively than they exchange different
business related information and data and if these private information and data has been used
unethically than confidential things can be disclose to the other parties which is not good for

Tesco because competitors will know the business strategies and plans. As a result business of
organisation will affect and it does not good for the growth of company (Tannenbaum and
Cerasoli, 2013).
Negotiation is a method which is useful to settle the disputes which arise in the
organisation. With the help of effective communication it can be resolve because relevant
information can be provide to the parties as a result differences and disputes will resolve. As
Tesco will communicate the ideas to the employees which are related to the growth of
corporation. As per the experience of employer it it is important to communicate the ideas and
plans so that workers can perform by considering it and it helps the company to achieve its
objectives. Group dynamic theories emphasis towards attitudinal & behavioural characteristic of
a group and it focuses about group structure & process and formation. It has different stages such
as: forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. In forming stage team is formed to
identify a specific task or problem. The next stage is storming in which members accept the
existence of the group but they resisting the constraints the group poses on them. As Tesco
completes the clear hierarchy of leadership exist in the group in order to meet the objectives.
Norming is the stage in which individuals settle the differences & shared the expectations and
with the help of proper communication issues among team members can be resolve. Performing
is the stage in which all team members perform their task as per the requirement of Tesco and
achieve the targets for which team has formed. Adjourning is the stage in which group has been
dissolve because goal has been accomplish. So group dynamic theory is helpful for the
organisation to achieve its objectives and all individuals has perform in the team in order to fulfil
the expectations of organisation (Mitchell and Golden, 2012).
As the Belbin theory of team structure is emphasis to form a effective team which
perform their roles as per the requirement of organisation. In this theory there are nine elements
which are helpful to make a effective team and help Tesco to achieve the objectives.
Implementer: It is that person who translates ideas into concentrate tasks & apply it and
clarify the goals, targets & roles as a result all employees will perform effectively. Resource
investigator, it communicate the information within & outside the workplace and generate
innovative ideas by maintaining contacts (Kjærgaard and Fink, 2015). Plant: The person who is
responsible to think innovative ideas so that it can resolve the problems which are arises at
workplace at Tesco. There are various issues which appears in the organisation and plant is

responsible to think practically so that better decisions can be taken to find out better solutions.
Monitor, it is that person who monitor the activities of team work and analyse the situations and
on the basis of it make judgements which is helpful to enhance the performance of employees.
Shaper, it is that person who is passionate about its work and ready to take challenges and than
find the solutions of complicated problems. Coordinator, It is that person who is responsible to
make coordination among the employee and employer and communicate the proper information
and data to the employees which are provided by the employer so that workers can perform as
per the requirement of organisation. As Tesco has coordinator in the team who manage the work
through proper coordination (Godlock and Feider, 2016).
Completer finisher: It is the talented person in the organisation who is responsible and
make sure that all employees are performing according to the given instructions. In Tesco, the
role of complete finisher is to check the work which is performed by the workers and monitor the
quality of work and safety of team members. So it plays an vital role and help the organisation to
get growth & achieve the objectives which are set by the management. Teamworker, It is that
person who is very sensitive and support the employees to perform better by motivating them.
Team-worker of Tesco, is responsible to create healthy environment at the workplace and
communicate the proper information to the group members so that they can perform as per the
necessity (El-Sofany and Alwadani, 2014). It is also responsible to resolve the conflicts which
are arises at workplace and listen the problems of workers and take a better decisions in order to
protect the interest of staff. Specialist, it is that person in the team who have enough knowledge
about a specific field or area and it involves, specialist of marketing, finance, information
technology, human resource etc. As Tesco have specialist in the team who manage the work
effectively and guide the employees to perform better so that work can be done according to the
requirement of corporation and it can sustain its business for a long term. As per the experience
of employer group strategies have played a vital role in order to achieve the goals which are set
by the management. While making group strategies it is important to set the objectives so that
work can be done on the basis of it (Crawford and LePine, 2013).
As group agreement has made between the group members and they become responsible
to perform their task as per the requirement of agreement. It helps Tesco to accomplish the
targets. To meet the objectives it is important to make meaningful schedule in which all details
about a task has mention such as: role of each and every employees and how how the perform

and how much is require and what resources are needed so complete the work effectively. It is
important that work has been delegated on the basis of skills and knowledge on the members so
that efficiency and effectiveness can be enhance and work can be done smoothly (Cooke and
Salas, 2017).
Inter- personal communication is also helpful to make the communication strong and
shows that a person is interested to listen the ideas, thoughts and information. It is require that
body language should be appropriate which involves gestures and posters. While communication
it is required for the employees to listen actively so that it can understand the content while has
been discussed in the communication. If workers will listen actively than they can perform their
role more effectively because they know how to perform in order to achieve the objectives of
Tesco. Written communication is very important in the company and it involves, email, letter,
faxes, advertisement, brochures etc. There is a formate and structure of written communication
which involves subject matter, objectives and purpose and it is require to mention for whom it
has done which means to whom information has provided (Cooke, 2015).
While written communication it important to follow the certain things which involves:
grammar, punctuation, presentation formate & structure, expression etc. As the management of
Tesco is emphasis to make effective written communication so that relevant information has
been communicated to the employees and they perform by considering it. While making
communication with the employees and outsiders the employer has focuses towards the context,
subject matter, grammar, syntax and it makes good image and content is understandable by the
individuals. While making presentation it is important to emphasis about formate and structure
so that it will make good impact in front of individuals and clients.
There are various electronic resources which are used by Tesco to communicate with the
audience and it involves the tools of social media like, Facebook, twitter, you-tube, Instagram
etc. It provide help Tesco to communicate its information to the audience and they can attract
towards the organisation and will aware about the products and services which are provided by
the company. So employer use verbal and non verbal communication tool which is helpful to
improve the performance of employees at workplace (Bane, 2014).
CONCLUSION
As from the above report, it has been concluded employer can use various
communication tools in order to communicate the relevant and proper information. There are

various theories which can be used by the management of company which emphasis towards
team work and its structure and help the corporation to achieve its objectives. There are two
types of communication tools such as: verbal and non verbal and it can be use as per the
suitability. To enhance the performance of employees it is required for the firm to provide
effective information to all workers so that they can perform as per the requirement of firm and
help the organisation to achieve its goals and objectives. Group dynamic theories emphasis
towards attitudinal & behavioural characteristic of a group and it focuses about group structure &
process and formation.
