EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The study is based on team work and different theirs and concepts which plat a vital role
in improving team work regardless of individual differences. It outlined Tuckman team
Development theory which suggest 5 stages of developing an effective team that is forming,
storming, norming, performing and adjourning. Further, it outlined importance and ways of
team communication which is basis of team coordination and cooperation. On the other hand,
analysis 3 identified team roles with the help of Belbin 9 team roles. Thus, the study concluded

INTRODUCTION
Team work is a combined action of a group which is done to make work efficient and
effective. When working in team it is important for the individual to focus on working according
to owns skills and ability by participating collaboratively. The study will outline team
development, team communication, roles within team and time management which are crucial
aspect which needs to be considered by individuals when working in a group. The assignment
will be focused on different theories and concepts which helps in effective team work like 9 team
roles by Belbin, Tuckman team development theories and time management strategies.
Analysis 1: Team development
Team development is the crucial part of team work as it focuses on managing team
dynamics which reflects differences of individual who are group together to work on specific
goal. When managing or working in a group it is important for the individuals to incorporate use
of team development theory was it helps in managing anxiety, optimism, shared goals,
negativity, skills, leadership, performance, etc. (Costa, Passos and Bakker, 2015) In accordance
with team development Bruce Tuckman a psychologist proposed team development theory in
1956 which specifies 5 stages of team development that is forming, storming, norming,
performing and adjourning.

Forming – It is the first stage in which all the team members are introduce and everyone
is very polite and sky. In this team members are excited to work together and know each
other in the team. In the individual roles and responsibility are unclear and many
questions are been arises.
Storming – This the second stage decisions don't come in the easy manner and derives
the relation between the member and leader are not good. Uncertainties increases. In this
the team need to be focus towards the goals and objectives (Salas and et.al., 2017).
Norming- In this stage the roles and responsibilities are very clear and easily accepted.
Big decision is made with the group discussion and smaller decision are delegated to
individual. In this team members show interest and focus towards the betterment of the
organisation.
Performing: Team has a shared vision and they know that what they are doing and the
reason of doing. So, they do not have requirement of guidance as they can stand on their
own feet (Webb, 2018). In this stage, team functions benefit the task. Team members has
vision and they also understand team objectives so they support them in achieving their
determined team goals.
Adjourning: After completing tasks in team can be dissolved. They experience and will
have to feel the sense of loss and the feeling of getting separation. So, they distance
themselves from each other which make them able to bear all the things. Team leader pay
attention to this problem and then plan success party.
Analysis 2: Team Communication
The interaction and information’s that an employee and member of a team shares with one
another can be defined as team communication. Team communication is very important in order
to work together and with collaboration. It helps an organisation to reach their goals. Good and
an effective communication in Group & team leads to an unbeatable synergy that helps team
members in productive work. It is important if someone is working individually and
independently in order to work productively and effectively. It reduces the chances of errors and
mistakes from tasks and works (Kiekel, Gorman and Cooke, 2017). Team communication not
only increases productivity but also it increases and develops interpersonal relations.
Team communication is one of the major requirements in order to ensure that appropriate
growth and development is taking place within the team while achieving set goals and

of the team needs to be provided with appropriate training and development. Training
opportunities can help the team to enhance the abilities of the members to communicate
effectively with each other. Effective communication tends to eliminate the flaws, the negative
behaviour of the team members, communication gaps and most importantly eliminates arising
conflicts. It is the job of the leadership or the leader of the team to evaluate at what places its
team is lacking communication and what practices are required in order to ensure effective
communication is taking place.
The main approaches which can be used within a team to improve team communications
includes setting up a leader within a team to evaluate the team's effectiveness by making them
communicate with each other, testing the verbal and written skills of the team members and
provide them with required tools and techniques to improve their communication. Inspiring
innovation between the team is another effective way to improve the communication of the team
(Slagter and Wilderom, 2017). The team can be made to think creatively on a variety of tasks
which are assigned to them. When the members of the team are being assigned with the tasks
which requires effort and the help of other team members. They tend to start communicating
with each other and tend to find at what places they are lacking growth in their communication.
This can help the team to ensure that effective growth and development is taking place and
allows the team to enhance their communications skills.
The other effective concept is providing opportunities to team members where they are
talking to each other more and more. In order to this, the team can be provided with small breaks
which are going to make them speak with each other more often and make their communication
strong with each other (Zhen, 2017). When team members are communicating with each other on
a regular basis, it directly tends to improve the communication between them and builds strong
trust between them as well. This helps to improve the communication between the team and its
team members. Along with it, it helps the team to achieve its set goals and objectives effectively
and ensure better support to each other.
Analysis 3: Roles within team
Recognizing team roles is important for achieving goals. In start-up companies, teams
can be limited to one team, with founders taking over the functions of factories, coordinators,
and other teams. Teams share common goals involving survival and growth. The group cannot

be a team without a common goal. As business grows and more teams get involved, it is very
important that company management clarifies the role of team members and the goals of each
team. Team roles tend to behave in certain ways, collaborate and interact with other people, said
consulting firm Belbin, whose founding recognition of these roles plays an important role in the
work of teams and organizations. Teams must have different roles for maximum efficiency. The
nine roles complement each other especially (Webb, 2018). They complement and strengthen
each other, but they can also contradict and compete with each other. The role of the team talks a
lot about the team's work style and comes from the individual's personality.
Implementers are practical organizers, disciplined, neat, and task oriented in teams.
Contractors put plans and ideas into direct assignments. They may be too practical and
conservative if the benefits of new ideas are not immediately clear.
Resource Investigator are cheerful, extroverted and has lots of contacts inside and outside
the team. They are enthusiastic, adventurous and open and always looking for new ideas.
Research resources are inherently good at making and maintaining contacts, but can be
casual when innovation is lost.
Plant is an innovative, original, and creative team thinker. Free thoughts that need space
to dream of new and surprising solutions to complex problems.
Monitor is reasonable, careful and critical. Team analysts always analyze the situation
and want to solve the problem.
Shaper is driven, excited and aware. It has a strong desire to present and is looking for
challenges and something is happening. Formers ensure that deadlines are set and goals
are achieved in one way or another. They can be disappointed and angry or emotional.
The coordinator is the team's natural coordinator. They follow procedures, help team
members to clarify intentions, and summarize what everyone wants. They have talent for
talent and know how to use people for their full potential. The coordinator trusts other
people and delegates easily, but sometimes he leaves too much work for other workers.
Completer Finisher has the ability to always feel what's wrong. This brings a lot of
attention to detail, testing and checking and tendency to perfectionism. They monitor
quality and safety, but sometimes they can be too careful and difficult to delegate to
others.
Team workers are the most sensitive, helpful, polite and dedicated team members to
create a comfortable atmosphere and a sense of unity. They prefer balance and harmony
and are close to others (Slagter and Wilderom, 2017). Team work employees have
conflict difficulties and may have difficulty making decisions at critical moments.
Specialists are a great source of knowledge in their fields. A consultant who likes to
convey knowledge on certain topics with pleasure and convenience. Their contribution to
the team has considerable technical knowledge and skills. Specialists live better together
and don't pay too much attention to social activities.

Analysis 4: Time management
Time management is very important aspects when team members are working in team
effectively. This allows to accomplish more in fewer time that has led to more free time. It is
very important for managing the effectiveness at workplace then employees and team members
are work in team for same goals and objectives. Good time management is allowed to
accomplish more in a shorter time and it has beneficial for work in effective manner with
manage time. Time management is important at the time work and its importance are as follows

Strategies of managing time when working in a team
Prioritizing goals: Prioritizing tasks in a project is very important for the success of the
team and the timely completion of the allocation. The group must reach a consensus
about which tasks must be considered first in the project (Zhen, 2017). These tasks may
not be the most important part of the project, but they may be only details that the group
must do before moving on to the larger project criteria.
Setting deadlines: The next step is to check the task that requires immediate attention. If
the task is not completed at the end of the day or in the next few hours, it can have
serious negative consequences such as missed client deadline, missed publication or
release deadlines, etc.
Division of work: Division of work is a sequence of tasks given and carried out by a
group of employees to improve efficiency. Division of work also called division of
labour, so that there are different tasks that make up the whole. By dividing the work it
will save a lot of time and give fast output to the team.
