Technology in among those things that are changing rapidly, especially technological
development in mobile phones. There was a time when telephones were used for the sole
purpose of communication but now, they have capability to do anything. But every positive
comes with some negatives. This essay will discuss that whether mobile devices and other
latest technologies is supporting people in their business/jobs or they are making a negative
impact.

Technology has changed the way people work; and change is positive.
Industrial revolutions bought unexpected changes in the world. There was a time
when all the jobs were done manually but in last 4-5 decades mobile devices and information
technology upgraded the working style. Bew are few advantages of technological
development and mobile devices:
Improves productivity – No one can deny the fact that latest technology has improved
their productivity (Heflin, Shewmaker and Nguyen, 2017). There was a time when
calculations were used for doing complex and lengthy calculation. This device had its own
limits; it can complete work on hours in few minutes. But now there are software that can
calculate complicated figures in few second and they can provide error proof results. Mobile
has all the basic things that are needed by a skilled worker. One can find millions of examples
where technology provided great assistance in increasing overall productivity or an individual
as well as of organisation. People can send mail, monitor their office/factories, make
presentation and manage whole team through their mobile phone.
Increase flexibility – The best thing about mobile devices is that they can be taken
anywhere as no wire is connected to them. They have all the applications that are used at
workplace. This allow people to work at any time, from any place and with whatever device
available to them. Culture of work from home has become very popular lately because of
mobile device and other technology like cloud tech, http and java. More than 5 billion people
are using mobile devices, it proves unarguable success of this gadget (Martin and et al.,
2019).
Assistance in growth of global business – Before internet, globalisation was
happening gradually as people, from different places of this world, were not connected with

each other. Sudden rise in information technology and continuous upgradation in mobile
devices helped organisation in getting new business. They did not have to buy physical assets
for starting operations as whole thing can be managed by sitting in own house. The speed of
communication is super-fast this era and whole credit goes to development in information
technology (Lebioda, Hahn and Martins, 2019). One can buy anything by using mobile phone
as e-commerce changed the way people buy and sell things. Organisations does not have to
go anywhere for buying office essentials at any place. They can use website like Amazon in
their mobile for ordering whatever they need.
Provide ease in working – With latest technology and mobile device, need of physical
presence declined sharply. It ultimately reduces unessential efforts like daily going to office
for office meeting or manually managing places like warehouse. Mobile phone has narrowed
the line between home and office. It helped many organisations in enhancing their profits by
reducing avoidable costs.
Disadvantages of mobiles and other technology
It is true that technological development is giving positive results for businesses and
other organisations, but they are considered as prime reason behind many negative activities
that are happening in this world. Below are few points which proves that they made people’s
life worst:
Compromising health – Most of the jobs were based on physical activities when
information technology didn’t arrive. Because of mobile phone, people only have to sit on
their seats for 8-10 hrs as a part of their job. Their body posture, immunity and positive
mindset has degraded as they are getting lazy. Ease in working and fading line between home
and workplace has negatively affected human’s mentality. They do not have time to sit with
family for dinner; earlier employees use to work in office for 8-10 hrs but now they are
indirectly working for 24 hrs and for 7 days (Carlson and et al., 2018).
Biggest distraction of this era – Mobile phones are known for reducing completion of
any tasks as they enhanced productivity. But, another fact, which cannot be denied, is that
they are greatest distraction of this era. Employees waste their time on social networking sites
at the time of working. With better connectivity, they spend more time in chatting with their
family members instead of concentrating on own work.

Conclusion
From the above essay, it can be concluded that beside having few negative impacts on
today’s working culture, mobile device and latest technologies are providing huge support to
the workers. It has enhanced productivity without increasing efforts. If gadgets are used
appropriately then they can deliver surprising results.
