management. In context to hospitality sector, sustainability in supply chain is extend beyond go
green. It is helpful in improve the productivity of business and saves money. Aim of present
investigation is identify the significance of sustainability in improving supply chain management
within hospitality industry. Literature review is conducted for achieving research objectives with
the help of implementing secondary sources. There has been research methodology conducted by
using the research onion. In this, positivism research philosophy has been used because it is
related to quantitative method and provide relevant information. For collect the data and
information, primary method of data collection has been considered. In this, questionnaire has

and spending. The sustainability is important in supply chain management is to develop
partnership opportunities because environmental responsibility is necessary factor (Al-Aomar
and Hussain, 2018). Practicing the eco- awareness in each aspect of business helps in improving
reputation and legitimize organisation. Holiday Inn is American brand of the hotels and was
founded in year 1952. It is one of the largest chain of hotels and headquarter is in Denham. Well
established supply chain management can help hospitality sector to gain the competitive benefits.
Using the strategy relates to supply chain assists to make improvement in services and quality of
hotel.
Background of Research
The current research is concerned to know about significance of sustainability in order to
make improvement supply chain management within hospitality industry. Conducting the
present investigation helps in understanding about the concepts involved in research in detailed
manner. In hospitality sector, supply chain management develop relationship with work and
supplier with better ordering system in order to make improvement in the level of services
towards consumers. This investigation is performed in professional and personal context. In
personal context, understanding of an investigator can be enhanced regarding the sustainability
and supply chain management within hospitality sector (Ertuna, Karatas-Ozkan and Yamak,

METHODOLOGY
Research methodology is defined as the techniques that used to determine and analyse the
information regarding specific subject area. It allows reader to evaluate critically the reliability as
well as overall study. Research onion was mainly created by Saunders et. al. in 2007 that explain
stages through which research needs to be pass when developing methodology (Filimonau and
Naumova, 2020). Different stages involved in research onion given below:
Research philosophy
This layer of research onion explains pictorially different aspects of an investigation to be
planned or examined to come up with effective research design. The research philosophies are of
different types for an instance interpretivism and positivism research philosophy (González-
Torres, Rodríguez-Sánchez and Pelechano-Barahona, 2020).
Justification: In conducting research philosophy, positivism research philosophy has been
used as this is on quantitative research method and provide the authentic information regarding
effects of sustainability on supply chain management.
Research Approaches
The research approach is explaining as procedures as well as plans for conducting the
research that span stages from the broader assumptions to the data collection in detailed manner
and analysis methods. The deductive and inductive are various types of the research approaches.
Inductive approach moves from particular observations to the wider generalisations. Deductive
approach to an investigation is one that the people are related with the particular investigation
area (Govindan and et. al., 2020).
Justification: In this investigation, deductive research approach has been considered
because this is concerned with creating the hypothesis as per the existing research subject related
theory. This is related with deducting the conclusion from the premises.
Research Strategy
The research strategy is explained as plan in order to conduct an investigation. It guides an
investigator to find out the better research strategy to collecting the information regarding the
particular subject are. There are different types of research strategies for an instance survey,
interview, focus groups, observation and others (Gutiérrez-Martínez and Duhamel, 2019).

Justification: In order to performing present investigation, survey research strategy has
been considered. It is the unique method to gathering data and information from the large
number of respondents about effects of sustainability on supply chain management. The main
reason behind using survey method id that it has an ability to collect the more information and
having availability of the validated information. This research strategy is effective in providing
the authentic and reliable information so that positive outcomes can be attained (Hong, Zhang
and Ding, 2018).
Research Choice
The qualitative and quantitative are different types of the research choices. The qualitative
method is effective in permit for an in- depth investigation. it is mainly designed in such a
manner that assist in reveal perception and behaviour of the target audience with references to
the particular research area. On the other hand, quantitative research method is systematic
phenomena through collecting the quantifiable data and also performing the statistical. It is
mainly quantifying issue through way of generating the numerical data that can be effectively
transformed into the usable statistics (Horng and et. al., 2018).
Justification: In current research, there has been quantitative research used. Reason
behind selecting the quantitative method is that this gives actual facts and figures concerned to
effects of sustainability on supply chain management (Ozturkoglu, Sari and Saygili, 2019).
Data collection
It is concerned with collect data and information with the help of using reliable and
authentic sources. Secondary and primary are various methods of data collection. In the primary
method, new information can be collected. In the secondary method, information can be
collected by using the existing sources (Hossain, Kannan and Raman Nair, 2020).
Justification: In this investigation, primary data collection method used as this si effective
in giving new as well as reliable information related to specific subject area. By using this
method, questionnaire has been developed on the basis of effects of sustainability on supply
chain management.
Sampling
Sampling is mainly used to make inferences about the whole population. In an
investigation, samples are easy to gather the information from because they are cost- effective

and convenient. The sampling is of two different types for an instance probabilistic and non-
probabilistic sampling (Hussain, Al-Aomar mand Melhem, 2019).
Justification: In conducting the investigation, 40 respondents has been selected through
implementing random sampling method. Benefit of using random method sampling is that it
provides equal chance to the selected participants so that they can able to give their viewpoint
regarding specific subject area.
Data analysis
For analysis gathered data from primary method, thematic analysis method has been
considered. In this, themes, tables, graphs and interpretation are on questions basis mentioned in
the questionnaire (Metaxas, Chatzoglou and Koulouriotis, 2019).
Time horizon
It is related to using the effective method for completion of a research within mention period
of time. Cross- sectional and longitudinal are two different types of the time horizon.
Justification: In this research, cross- sectional time horizon has been used. The reason
behind using this time horizon is that it allows an investigator to compare the various variables at
similar time. Using this time horizon is beneficial in completing an investigation within given
time period (Modica and et. al., 2020).
