One of the major cost-quality reforms initiative practiced in USA is the EHR
incentive program while the other important initiative is patient-centred medical home. The
EHR program, which was previously known as ‘The Medicare and Medicaid Electronic
Health Records’ provides incentives to those healthcare professionals and eligible hospitals
that are involved in quality care services through adopting, implementing, and upgrading
certified HER technology. On the hand, the medical home initiative is a care delivery model
under which patient is being provided primary quality care services where and when they
need it (Obama, 2016).
The major advantages of these quality care initiative policy is that it focuses on
quality of care and provide instant medical and primary healthcare services to the people. For
example, the EHR has also reduced the cost of testing and reduce the paper works in
healthcare organisations (Gettinger & Mason, 2020).
The major problem while providing care-quality services in USA is that one in every
four healthcare organisations not implemented the basic EHR technology that is a major
barrier in providing quality care in the country (CMS.gov, 2020).
As EHR provides incentive to the healthcare professionals and hospitals, they can be
able to provide best healthcare facilities with quality of care with the help of latest technology
and equipment. The EHR initiative also helps to quality care providers in providing safe,
secure, and efficient patient health care in the country that protect the life of people (Obama,
