CE 2.2 Project Background
CE 2.2.1 Characteristics of the project
The project was targeted to expand the telecom sites in and around the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia. Huawei has assigned a set of new 650 sites to BATCO. This work includes the
installation of new telecom sites with the addition of MW links in the central and northern Saudi
Arabia. A cell site in simple terms can be explained as a place where antennas and electric
commination modules and parts are located and to create a cell in a cellular network. The
structure includes the use of antennas for the transmission of signals, a set of receiver and
transmitter for the signals, a DSP processor, control mechanism for the towers, sheltering area
and an electrical backup power for the tower to continue working.

The objectives which I had developed for the quality delivery of the project are as

CE 2.2.3 My area of work
I was assigned for the project to complete the installation of the new 650 sites around the
Saudi area. BATCO had asked me to work for Huawei in the project. I had used my
interpersonal skills to negotiate with the customers. I had applied my project management skills
to communicate with the managers to share the working procedure of the project. I had also
managed the resources and the budget of the project to deliver the best project and also a cost
effective one. This helped the organisation save up money.

CE 2.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
I was responsible for the manager post to look after the working of the installation of the
new telecom sites at 650 new sites around Saudi. I had implemented my working knowledge of
the project management which helped me to provide the organisation with the best project. I had
used the theory of budget management which helped to save the organisation to save up money
and also used fluent communication with the managers.

CE 2.3.1 Comprehending the theory of the project
The basic theory of the project was to help the BATCO organisation to set up a set of 650
new transmission cells in the area around Saudi Arab for the Huawei Company. The factors
which needed to be kept in mind during the setup of the towers were the height of the antenna
that was to be set up, the frequency of working of the signals being transmitted and received, the
data rate that the subscribers were using around the tower and the climate and the geographical

condition of the area. These points were always crossed checked with the local team to get to
know the correct location for the setting up of the towers. Moreover the distance between each of
the towers needed to be of a certain limit so that the signals or the wires do not get stretched too
much and loose its intensity. The mathematical calculations were compiled and the results were
mapped on a topographical map the map was shared with the working managers of the project. I
had gone with the plan only after the confirmation from all the stakeholders and the managers of
the project.
CE 2.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
I had applied the knowledge of my project management skills which was to implement
the working of the stock management and to communicate with the managers of the
organisation. I had applied the working idea of a budget control which helped me to produce the
best cost effective working environment and thus saving the organisation to save up lot of
money which wold have eventually been wasted. For the fluid communication protocol I had
documented all the working procedure of the project and shared the work with my supervisors.
This helped them to understand the work flow that I was going through.
CE 2.3.3 Accomplishment and task performed
The installation of the towers were accompanied by the management of the whole
working of the project and the completion of the whole project on time for the company to be
satisfied. The project was being handle from before on by someone else. When I had joined the
project I found the project to be poorly handled. The accounts were not checked correctly and a
lot of money was being wasted in wrong places. There were many unpaid invoices left for the
organisation to be paid out. The workers were not working the full capacity and drawing more
money than required. This prompted me to change the whole team to a new one which would be

working under me. The accounts were all closed down and the invoices paid off in full before
proceeding with the project. After opening fresh accounts I checked the working procedure with
the documents and found gaps in the system. I contacted the suppliers to provide me with the
specifications of the project requirements and started working on the project. The project was on
a transfer basis as not all of the towers was to be set up at a single location. Transportation cost
was incurred which was effectively managed by me with the help of relay working. I had
continued to document my findings and the progress report of the project before proceeding to
the next step. The documents were shared with the organisation mangers on a weekly basis to let
them know about the progress of the project. They were quiet happy with the work flow of the
project and encouraged me to continue working on the project.
CE 2.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
2.3.4.1 Issues
When I had joined the project I had studied all the documents that was there and found
that the cost control was not being controlled correctly by the previous workers. The old team
was not effective in working with my working methods.
3.3.4.2 Solutions
I had then taken up the challenge to complete the cost effective use of the project. I
closed all the previous accounts which was being operated by the project and opened up new
budget accounts for the project. This helped me to control the cost of the project for the
beginning of my project tenure. I had also reworked on the whole team system and changed the
workers. The new team hiring though slowed down the work by some days but it was effective in
the long run. I had also found that the precious invoices were not closed by the previous
manager. This was also completed by me to proceed with the next phases of the project.

CE 2.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
The project was a collaboration of the Huawei. They had helped in accommodation of the
resources. The previous workers were screened by me and I had appointed new workers for the
project. This helped me to complete the task faster.
CE 2.3.6 Collaborative work
The project was completed with the help from my new formed team mates on the start of
my project. I had closed the previous working accounts so that I could keep track of the whole
working procedure of the project from my joining. The managers of the company helped me to
get the helpful follow-up of the work that was completed and the work that was to be completed
by me.
CE 2.4 Project Review
CE 2.4.1 Project Overview
At the end of the project I found that I was able to success fully implement the working
of the project objectives which I had set out during the starting of the project. I was able to look
after all of the 650 sites which was assigned under me for the installation procedure. I had also
restructured the team to meet my needs for the correct implementation of the skills.
CE 2.4.2 My contribution to work
I was in charge of the project as the project manager and looked after the working of the
project sites. I had applied my project management skills to provide the best quality project. I
had managed the resources and the project budget to ensure that minimum amount of budget was
