1. An induction motor is required to operate an overhead crane in Dominian factory. The motor
is receiving a three phase supply. In addition the Dominian factory’s owner requires DC supply
for certain of its application in the factory.
 Construct the induction machine with its three-phase power supply.(P5)
 Build a full bridge rectifier that will supply to the load in the factory from the per-
phase of the three phase supply. (P5)
 Measure the output voltage and the output current of the rectifier to show that the
load is supplied with a DC source.(P5)
2. In Tulip factory, a 415Vrms three phase star connected induction motor is used to rotate a
conveyor belt for their production line. In addition, the factory requires a single phase step up
transformer (240Vrms Input Voltage) for certain loads that require a voltage level that
double (480Vrms) from the per phase of the three phase supply.
 Construct the induction machine with the three-phase supply to rotate the conveyor
belt. (P5)
 Build a single phase step up transformer from the per-phase of the three phase supply
for the certain loads. (P5)
 Measure the output voltage and the output current of the transformer to show that
the load is supplied with a step up voltage of the per phase value. (P5)
3. Mr. Stephen wants to build a mini fan application using a DC motor. Using a DC sour
(battery) as the source for the DC motor is not feasible as it will drain the battery where Mr.
Stephen need to replace the battery regularly.
 Build a converter that will convert an AC source to a DC source (full bridge rectifier)
for the DC motor supply to replace the battery. (P5)
 Construct the mini fan that utilizes the DC motor for Mr. Stephen (from the output of
the rectifier). (P5)
 Measure the output of the AC converter to show that the AC source has been
converted to a DC source. (P5)
4. Mr. Alex has an application that requires a DC voltage but he only has an AC source available
(240Vrms). In addition, one of his application requires an AC source that is double than the
available voltage source. For both of Mr. Alex’s application
 Build an AC to DC converter (full bridge rectifier) for the application that requires the
DC source. (P5)
 Construct a step up transformer for the application that requires the voltage source
that is double than the available AC source (the input is the same from the main AC
source of the rectifier). (P5)
 Measure the output of the DC load and AC load to show that the AC source has been
converted to DC source and the AC source has been step up to the double value. (P5)

5. Miss Avril has a DC battery and is having a load that requires an AC source. In addition she
wants to use a mini wind blower for an agricultural project utilizing a DC motor. For both of
the application,
 Build an inverter that will convert the DC source (input) to become an AC sourc
(output) for his application. (P5)
 Construct a DC motor circuit for his mini wind blower agricultural project (using the
same main DC source). (P5)
 Measure the AC output of the inverter and the speed of the DC motor to display a
successful output of the inverter and DC motor circuit.(P5)
6. Mr. Damo has an inverter that converts a DC source (input) to an AC source (output). At the
output of the inverter (AC source), Mr. Damo wants to connect it to a rectifier as his
application requires AC voltage. In addition Bruno has a DC motor that requires a DC voltage
to be used as a mini pump for his aquarium.
 Build a rectifier that converts the AC output of the inverter for Mr. Damo’s application
that requires the AC voltage. (P5)
 Construct the DC motor circuit for the aquarium (use the input from the DC source of
the inverter). (P5)
 Measure the output of the rectifier and the speed of the DC motor to display that the
AC source has been converted to a DC output and the motor can be used for the
pumping purpose. (P5)
