The world has been in the past few decades moving towards total automation. The
modern industries and factories are characterized by extensive use of heavy or intelligent
machines that have replaced human labor in many sectors. Over these years, the engineering
sector has generally been growing rapidly with the demand of individuals who can man the new
technologies. Electro-mechanical engineers gained much popularity in the past few decades for
their ability to fully transform the manufacturing sector towards more efficiency. However, less
or no growth at all is expected in the coming years perhaps because most manufacturers have
attained the required services.

expected to stagnate in the coming years as such more competitive ability will be required for
anyone desiring to enter the sector especially without experience. An individual must portray a
high level of competence in the sector in order to secure a job.
Electro-Mechanical Technicians share in the same payment bracket with other
professionals working in the general engineering sector. There may be some disparities
depending on the employer. The private sector almost always pays better than government-
owned corporations. The educational qualifications too match other professions in the broader
engineering sector. The studying time is relatively below compared to that of Millwrights who
have to undergo training and work as apprentices for four years to be qualified. Mechanical
engineers require a Bachelor’s degree that requires up to four years. They are, however, paid far
much better compared to Electro-Mechanical Technicians. Despite the general stagnation in the
sector, one can still achieve much success especially in the Robotics sector.

of which have not reached any consensus. Some critics hold the view that robotic technology
came forth to rob people of their job opportunities. Robotic technologies have indicated high
potentials that ought not to be overlooked just because of the single negative side. Human beings
being innovative beings are capable of creating alternative job opportunities once technology
robs them the existing ones.
