AI Summary
This assignment, prepared for IHP 450, focuses on the benefits and justification of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for a community health center. It begins by outlining the advantages of EMR, such as preventing medical errors, improving quality of care, and reducing healthcare costs. The assignment then details methods for estimating these benefits, including measuring cost reductions in lab tests, nursing time, and administrative tasks. The core of the assignment is a memo addressed to the community health center's Board of Directors, written from the perspective of a CFO assistant. The memo emphasizes the cost-benefit analysis of EMR, highlighting how the initial investment is offset by long-term savings and improved patient outcomes. The memo also includes a justification for purchasing EMR for the betterment of public health. The assignment utilizes APA style for citations and is based on the mini-case presented in the textbook.

Subject: Benefit of purchasing EMR
The main purpose of writing is to bring your attention towards purchasing of EMR for better
public health outcome. I would like to highlight my point by emphasizing on cost benefit
analysis of EMR. With the use of EMR new cost has been incurred which includes system and
induced. However, the benefit of EMR has outweighed the high implementation cost. There has
been reduction in cost of paper charts, storage, medical device and human resource from the use
of EMR (Gulliford et al., 2017). Hence purchasing of EMR will not cost high although can bring
better health outcome of the growing population.
Therefore, I request you to look into the justification for purchasing EMR, so that it can be made
available for public good.
Thank you
