CE 2.2 Project Background
CE 2.2.1 Characteristics of the project
In a democratic country election is everything where, people of the country chose who
should rule the country. We had shown our concern in this topic and show our interest on
developing a model of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), which can contribute in the
execution of the efficient and effective voting system. I had designed an EVM through
establishing the microcontroller’s control and programming in manner to prevent deliberate or
inadvertent reproduction and reading of the code implemented in the microcontroller. I had tried
to manage the security at the max level through generating the digital signatures for each created
data packet. This enhanced security will eliminate the possibilities of fake voting system and
single individual will be voting a single individual.

CE 2.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
It is a crucial factor to set objectives and goals much precisely for the successful deployment of
the EVM and following are the objectives set for the execution of the project:
To present a solution for better voting system and eliminate the fake activity
during elections
To present an automated EVM that is highly secured
To deliver the project constraints within the budget and schedule
To implement the microcontroller for this advanced system in successful manner
CE 2.2.3 My area of work
I designed the hardware establishment design and hardware development of the whole
project. I had developed the design of the whole that includes the digital voting machine systems,
the complete circuit diagram of the EVM, and its output circuit flow. The following are the
diagrams according to which the whole establishment and circuit was delivered:

I had to manage the whole circuit of the developed system and take care of the measurement
system that was comprised of voting, control, confirmation, display, and power supply unit. I had

implemented the buzzer, LED, and other controller units within the developed design. I had
configured the Atmega16 microcontroller for the operational activities of the EVM. The
configuration of the Atmega16 microcontroller is depicted in the following figure:

CE 2.2.5 My responsibilities throughout the project
I had delivered the project constraints of my area of work in an effective and efficient
manner. I had configured the microcontroller input output for the data collection and data
processing for recording the voting made by the individual. I had to present a simple circuit
diagram for the overall establishment, develop the models for the installation of hardware, and
take care that rest of the team members easily understand the model and execute in simple way.
As my area of work was to develop he design and model of the project as shown in the above
figures and I had to take care that the circuit is closed and every operation can be executed using
the developed model.

CE 2.3.1 Comprehending the theory of the project
This project was an attempt to deliver an automated voting machine that will eliminate the fake
voting made by the users and establish an automated system for the counting of the votes given
to the candidates by the citizens. I had tried to utilize a counting server where, the configuration
of the data has been set before the election that will include the polling station identity, barcodes
list, and candidate names. I had fixed a display in the display that will express the choice made
by the citizen and thereafter, the selected option will be confirmed as the chosen vote. We had
programmed the microcontroller in a way that the voter will be confirming the vote through the
barcode and both the log of key sequence and vote pressed has been communicated and
transmitted over the ballot-box server.
CE 2.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
Programming microcontroller needs the proper engineering skills and knowledge in
manner to provide an effective and efficient input and output in the microcontroller. I had
applied my general principles of electronics for the development of a complete circuit for the
execution of needed operational activities automatically. The circuit diagram expressed in the
above paragraphs explain the complication of the whole project and these complications can be
eliminated through the application of electronic engineering. I had tried to utilize the gained
knowledge and skills for the successful development of this automated electronic voting
machine.

CE 2.3.3 Accomplishment and task performed
We had developed the design of the digital voting machine that will be helpful in
recording the votes provided by the citizens to the candidates and count them accordingly. I tried
to keep the security at the highest priority for which, microcontroller has been utilized for
restricting the system for choosing more than one candidate or doing fake voting. I had
developed the design of the project and installed the whole hardware section for the efficient
functioning of the project. I had installed the Atmega16 microcontroller for the security functions
and collection of data for the processing of the counting given by the citizens to the candidates. I
used a ballot box server for the operations related to the voting and counting and processing the
data related to the chosen candidate and candidates who were failed in the election.
CE 2.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
2.3.4.1 Issues
I had identified that the gist of this project was to enhance the security and eliminate the
fake voting system in manner to present a justified decision for the selection made by the group
of people for their leader. This was the major concern that was lagging in the very early stage of
the project.
2.3.4.2 Solutions
I asked the team to implement microcontroller and barcode for the identification of the
individuals voting in the booth and collect the data for processing in an efficient manner. I had
asked them to program the microcontroller in a way that single individual would be able to give
vote to a single candidate.

CE 2.3.5 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
I had used the ISIS professional software for the designing of the circuit and presented a
sophisticated design of the circuit as described in the above pictures. Hand drawing the circuit
diagram of the proposed model was a tough and complex way for the presentation of the model.
For the enhancement on the security system, I had used the microcontroller programming that
will be supporting the security and access control at the booth and contribute in the elimination
of the fake voting system. I had presented a system that is highly secured and efficient for the
collection and processing of the votes given by the citizens of the candidates and thus, present
accurate results.
CE 2.3.6 Collaborative work
This project would not be completed if the individuals in the team had not contributed
their section of work. Our team leader had listens to us always and responded accordingly
resulted in motivating ourselves toward the goal and objectives of the project. I had contributed
in the physical work in the instalment of the hardware as well supported in the various decisions
that were necessary for the accomplishment of the successful project and its constraints. Every
individual was accomplishing the activities assigned by the team leader and professor also
supported in the motivation towards the development of this project.

CE 2.4.1 Project Overview
I had developed the design of an automated electronic voting machine that is highly
secured and advanced than the previously used paper and ballot voting system. This system will

this project within a team where, every individual was assigned with different job and they had
to execute their roles with responsibility. Each team member had contributed in the successful
execution of the project that lead in the presentation of an automated voting machine.

I had contributed in the development of the design of the whole project that helped the
team members in accomplishing the establishment in an effective and easy manner. The
developed design helped them in establishment of the circuit for this automated system. I had
identified certain important concern of the developed design that can make it a popular product
in the industry. I had also presented the innovative idea of installing the microcontroller’s
programing for restricting the fake voting at the booth and thus, support a precise and accurate
decision making for the winner in the election.
