IS E-MAIL THE BEST MEANS OF COMMUNICATION?
Introduction
Among the basic mediums of information that are required for the purpose of
communication, E-mail is considered as the best channel of communication among the
business firms, organizations and companies. As discussed by Nicoli and Komodromos
(2019) it is a very useful non-verbal modes of communication.
Discussion
The best possible means of communication in a workplace is the use of mails. The
most important reason for which email can be considered as the as a good form of
communication is because it reduces the shipping and mailing costs. It is free of cost. Email
has the allowance of operating or engaging in two-way interaction, which does not have any
kind of urgency. When the employees of any organization send any email to the other
customers, they can respond to the email according to their own time and chance, without any
sort of time compulsion.
Also the email allows us to send as many messages we want, files, videos, or
documents and these require almost no cost for the delivery. Emails thus acting as a flexible
means of sharing instructions, serves as documentations, ensures confirmations as well as
makes recommendations communicating through rules and procedures. It can be argued that
in the age of social networking, instead of Facebook and WhatsApp, why is Email considered
to be the most effective form of communication. Email helps to safeguard the information
that are shared. It is therefore the most authentic and secure means of communication. Also
the record of the past emails can be retrieved if lost, which is not possible on any of the social
networking sites.
Organisations demand a quick and quality means of communication between the
clients and the customers and the manager. Swach (2015) in her research effectively states

that Email can be preferred among all the other means of modern communication channels
because it lacks the problem of language barriers, time zones and the other inconveniences
that other forms of technology like normal messages or phone calls have (Tumanyan and Ali,
2018). However, as discussed by Terra (2017), there can be a serious disadvantage of Email.
Email overloading is a serious problem as it hinders a proper communication among the
business officials and the clients. There can also be a positive response to this problem to this
email. The carbon copies of the emails can be used in order to take care of the
miscommunication and the email overloading which can harm the business communication
system (Haesevoets and et al., 2019).
Conclusion:
Email thus is the most transparent and the most effective form of communication
which can help the business communication to prolifer in the most appropriate way.
Every ,ode of communication does have its pros and cons but email emerges as one of the
most important modes of communication which is still prevalent in the business
communication cycle, because of its transparency and its feasibility with its lack of any kind
of language barriers or time zones.
