Executive Summary
This report discusses about the issues that are present in the current value stream map that is
being used. This report also discusses about the issue regarding comparison of the system
archetypes. This report also utilizes the system archetype rules for bettering of the execution

Introduction
Value stream maps are the guidelines that are used by the business organization for
bettering of the process that are to be followed for the execution of the entire task will be
beneficial for commencing of the task that are to be performed. System archetypes acts issue
analyzing and mitigating tool. System archetype is considered as a system thinking tool that
enhances the functioning process of the business organization, where it is implemented. It is seen
that the archetypes have been very useful in resolving issues as the factors of archetypes are
helpful in analysis of the process.
Background
Emergency department of a hospital has been acting inefficient as it was following the
value stream map that is already designed. This usage of the present value stream map has been
causing delay in the treatment process in the emergency department. This delay in the treatment
process is not well accepted by the patient and complains were overflowing. The requirement of
the case is to develop a new value stream map that will enhance the execution process of the
emergency treatment process and decrease the time that is taken for completion of the treatment
process to half of the time that is to be required for the processing of the business management.
Implementation of the system thinking tools, namely the system archetypes are insisted for
bettering of the process. This induces the fact that different theories of system archetypes will be
taken into consideration for bettering of the existing process.

Analysis of the System Archetypes that will impede performance
System thinking archetype is an approach that is used for processing of the object of the
study. This ensures that better understanding of surrounding environment is made problem
solving process. This system ensures that a model is to be created for bettering of the complex
relationships of the different entities that are present in the model. This is one of the major aspect
that proper management process is endured with the models that are decoded. This decision
making process is performed as per the dependencies that are present in the functional process.
Usage of multi-dimensional models have been facilitating the execution process that are to be
completed. This process is performed as per a number of specific conditions and general model
archetypes are also taken into consideration (Lin et al, 2017). This process includes processing of
the counterproductive elements as per the effective analysis of the input and the received output.
The system archetypes that are impeding the outcome of the entire treatment process in
the emergency department includes the likes of the limit of growth, tragedy of common and
eroding of goals. These archetypes have been impeding the performance of the entire treatment
process. This is one of the main reason that the functional process of the emergency treatment
process is affected. This ensures that the management of the emergency department is not made
in an efficient manner (Matthews & Kavelaars 2016).
As per the limit of growth the main aspect that is taken into consideration is that the
entire functioning of the treatment process is performed as per the scheduling that is made before
the starting of the business process. The rules that are set in the initial stage are to be followed.
This insists the fact that output that is received is estimated but the major issue that is present is
that innovative processing are not allowed (Clancy 2018). This insists the fact that expecting a

better output is not possible. Even if the output of the entire system is affected due to following
of the pre-set guidelines it does not affect the archetype. This process insists the fact that proper
management of the data set will be performed. In the chosen case the main aspect that is taken
into consideration is that the data guidelines that are provided by the current value stream map is
followed. This insists the fact that proper management of treatment is not made. As per the
current value stream map the major concern that is present includes the fact that a single entity
gets over burdened (Schoenenberger, Schmid & Schwaninger 2015). Nurses are responsible for
commencing the data transaction system. This process of data transaction takes huge time to get
completed. This excess time in completion of the data circulation reduces the efficiency in the
treatment process. This is one of the major reason that proper managing of the data collection
process gets affected. Hence the time that is taken for completion of the entire process gets
affected and the patients start complaining against the delay that is caused (Bagodi & Mahanty
2015).
As per the eroding of goal system archetype is concerned the main aspect that is taken
into consideration is that the functional process of the prime goal that was selected during the
starting of the project gets deviated. The goal that was primary during the starting of the project
is not received. This insists the fact that the success rate of the entire project decreases. This
decrease in the success rate of the system imbibes that improper management of the entire
process is caused (Dominković et al, 2018). As per this case that is chosen, the primary goal of
the emergency department is not met. This insists the fact that proper managing of the
emergency department is not. This section also ensures that proper management of the treatment
processing in the emergency department is not made. This ensures that proper conception is not

made as per the functioning process of the value stream map. This imbibes the fact that the
eroding of goal takes place and hence performance is impeded.
As per the tragedy of common the activities that are to be completed, needs to be at par
with the amount of resource that is available. In case resource that is available is limited and the
activities that are to be performed is more, then it is obvious that the efficiency of the entire
process will decrease. This ensures that there must be a balance in between the resources that are
present and the activities that are to be performed. After this section the main aspect that is taken
into consideration is that the resources face fatigue in completion of the tasks and hence the
speed of completion of the project gets delayed. As per this case of task of data circulation is
performed by the nurses. In this case the nurses are allotted with the task of data circulation that
exceeds the demand of the present number of nurses and hence the time taken for completion of
the data management gets higher and similarly the time taken for completion of the emergency
treatment process also increases. This is one of the major issue that has been decreasing the
functional efficiency of the entire treatment process.
Current State Value Stream Map based on System Archetypes
As per the analysis of the current value stream map the entire process stream map that is
present, the patients visit the hospital and registers themselves. After registering they need to
wait for the nurses to provide them with the ER room that is vacant. After this process the
treatment process starts. After this process the nurse examines the patient and provides them with
urgent solution. After providing them with the urgent solution they wait for the doctor to take
charge of the process. After this the doctor tests the patient and after gaining the test results the
treatment process gets inaugurated. This is one of the main reason that the functional process is
commenced with higher delay in time. This delay in time is not well accepted by the patients.

Time is also spent by the insurance company as per the management of the data procurement.
Hence better understanding of the data management will be performed as per the commencement
of the entire process gets inefficient. This is where the escalation system archetype finds its
place. The patients start complaining, leading to the fact that the hospital management needs to
understand the functional process that is to be performed. This ensures that proper commencing
of the data management will be performed as per the commencing of the data circulation process.
As per the definition of the escalation system archetype the major advantage that is received
includes the fact that with this terminology a better comparison and distinguishing in between the
predicted and estimated outcome and the received outcome is reflected. This ensures that the
reflection will be provided to the business authority for better understanding of the changes that
are to be made. This change in the data management system includes the fact that better
understanding of the business management can be performed. This processing of the business
management includes the fact that better commencing of the treatment process will be received.
New State Value Stream Map
The main recommendation that is to be provided is to use the shifting of burden system
archetype. As per the definition of shifting of burden archetype, the main aspect that is to be
considered includes the fact that the task that is to be performed is divided among the resources
in a better manner as in to maintain the balance of the work load that is put on the resources. This
process ensures that the efficiency process increases. This increase in the efficiency process
incurs that better understanding of the data set management is performed (Jimmerson 2017).
In this case a particular tool will be implemented for bettering the process of balancing of
the activity allocation to the treatment process. The tool that is introduced in the system is SNAP
logic intelligent integration platform into the system processing. This is one of the main reason

that the commencing of the data management got easier. With the help of the implementation of
the SNAP logic intelligent integration platform, data transaction, storing and analyzing gets
easier. Hence processing of data also gets easier (Henriqueet al, 2016).
In this case the patient registers himself and provides detailed data. After the registration
process, the data is handled by the SNAP logic intelligent integration platform. After the data is
stored and analyzed by the SNAP logic intelligent integration platform, the nurses and the doctor
gets the data before checking the patient. This includes the fact that the patient will be well in the
radar of the doctor and the nurse’s and the data that are required for initiating the treatment
process is already present. This leads to the fact that the time that is taken for initiation of the
treatment process decreases and hence the data management gets performed in a manner that
affects the functional process of the treatment process in the emergency department.

Another main advantage that is received in this case is that stage are solely dependent on
the tool and not any other entity and hence overlapping of the stages will take place as SNAP
logic intelligent integration platform is a multiple functionality tool and can take in multiple
input and provide multiple output at a same time.
Consequences of the new State Value Stream Map
The consequences that are present in this section is generally positive. After creation of
the new value stream map, it is expected that the waiting time that is required will become its
half. This will lead to the fact that better treatment of the emergency section will be made. This is
one of the major reason that the treatment process gets performed in a better manner and hence
completion of the treatment process will get better.
The negative aspect that is present includes the fact that data security will be a major
issue. Data breaching might take place and hence reduce the privacy of the patients.
Conclusion
Value stream map is considered to be a framework that insists better processing of the functional
process. As per the processing of the functional process completion the tasks are performed
accordingly. This includes the fact that better understanding of the data management is
performed as per the commencing of the project commencement. System archetype is one of the
major instance that is used for better processing of the treatment processing in the emergency
department. This induces the fact that the data that are commenced with the functioning of the
emergency treatment gets better and hence the business processing gets performed in a better
manner.

The recommendations that can be provided for the betterment of the system are as follows: -
 Implementation of firewall for data security
 Implementation of the escalation system archetype and the shifting of burden system
