Introduction
Emergency situations that arise in the processing of the treatment process, needs to be
resolved in urgent basis. This resolving of the issue in urgent basis helps in bettering of the
treatment process and hence proper understanding of the data segmentation of the treatment
process is needed to be implemented. Complains regarding excess time consumption has been
the main concern of the treatment process. This report discusses about the system archetypes that
are present in the treatment process. This report will also discuss about the current value stream
map that will be used. Issues that are present in the value stream map will also be stated for
proper understanding of the issues that are to be mitigated. Recommendations that are suggested
for developing a new value stream map. Consequences of implementing the newly developed
value stream map is also stated in this report.
Background
Being a team member of functional process of the emergency department, it is a duty to
keep a check that the patients who face emergency situations need to be treated with higher
efficiency. In case of waiting in the hospital for a prolonged period, it might affect the health of
the patients. This is one of the main reason that processing of value stream map will be required
for the processing of the delay process understanding. This delay understanding helps in
bettering of the treatment process. A value stream map will be developed that will ensure that the
waiting time that is required gets half the initial time.

Identification and analysis of the System Archetypes that will impede performance
System archetypes are the patterns that are followed by the business organizations for
processing of the business management. In the case of hospitals the main archetypes that are
used in the system includes Eroding of the goals, Escalation and Limit to growth (McDaniel
2017).
Eroding of the goal: Eroding of goal archetype is one of the major aspect that ensures that
proper management of the problems can be performed and this shifts from the initial goal that
was chosen. In this case the initial goal that was set as per the emergency sector was to provide
proper treatment to the patients. This leads to the fact that treatment processing has been getting
affected due to the increase in delay of the functional processing. Hence this archetype can be
included in the processing of the treatment process. This has been one of the major reason that
there has been performance impede in the hospital.
Escalation: Escalation is considered as one of the main process that is performed as per
understanding the issues that are present in the commencing of the business functioning can be
detected. This is one of the main reason that commencing of the issues can be detected and
resolved. In this case the patients who have been suffering from delay in time in the emergency
complains regarding the poor servicing infrastructure, which has been causing the delay. This
escalation from the patients helps the hospital authorities to understand the underlying issue.
With the understanding of the delay related issues that are present are highlighted, better
functioning of the business management takes place. Hence increase in efficiency of the business
management can be performed.

Tragedy of the commons: In case of the tragedy of the commons the main issue that is
present includes the fact that the resources that are present in the completion of the business
management system needs to be performed as per the commencing of the requirements that are
present in the functioning of the emergency section of the hospital system. With the increase I
usage of the resources that are present the revenue of the user increases and the efficiency of the
resources decreases as per the increase in the usage of the resources (Matthews & Kavelaars
2016). In this case with the increase in the processing of the usage of the emergency service of
the hospital the efficiency of the emergency section reduces. This reduces the efficiency in the
processing of the treatment process and hence improper management of the emergency section
affects the treatment process.
Analysis of the Current State Value Stream Map based on System Archetypes
The value stream map that is being currently used has been based on the functioning of
the system archetypes. Due to the usage of the present value stream map the main issue that is
present is that the processing of the time that is required in the treatment functionality has been
very high. This is one of the major issue that commencing of the data management system has
been affecting the thought process of the patients and hence they have been complaining against
the delay that has been occurring. The main concern that is to be taken into consideration
includes the fact that the time that is required in the processing of the treatment process needs to
be reduced such that the time that will be required gets half. This is one of the major benefit that
is used in the processing of the data management.
The process starts with the processing of the patient visiting the hospital and providing
the insurance information and describing the type of injury, he or she is facing. After performing
this process, registration of the patients are performed. After this stage the main step that is taken

into consideration is sending of the patient’s information to the nurse who will be attending the
patients. Patient history is also provided to the nurse. After this stage the patients are taken to the
waiting area. In this stage the patient needs to wait and this is where the waiting process starts.
After this stage the patients are taken to the ER room. This process is conducted after the nurse
provides proper information of the room that is available. Again the patient needs to wait. Then
the nurse examines the patients and this process is performed as per the data that are generated
during the evaluation of the patient’s data. The statistics that are present in commencement of the
treatment will also be provided. After waiting the doctor visits and examines the process. Again
the data is to be provided to the doctors for performing the proper treatment. This data sharing
process has been the major reason that time required for completing the task has been high. Data
is also provided by the nurse. Diagnosis and supply needs are also provided by the nurse who
have been attending the patients. After the doctor completes the treatment process, the patients
again needs to wait. Nurses bring in the medical support that is required. The attending physician
makes the patient ready for treatment. These are the steps that are required for completion of the
treatment. Hence the delay in the waiting stages affect the treatment process of the patients. The
entire system is diversified in between the information flow and material flow process.
Limit to growth has been the main issue that has been creating delay in the process. This
insists the fact that improper management of the treatment process gets affected. The main
reason of the treatment process getting affected is that as per the limit to growth process a
particular infrastructure is to be maintained. As per the terminology of the Limit to growth a
balance is needed to be maintained. This need of balance maintaining insists the fact that time
that is required for completion of the treatment process affects the functioning process. There are

Recommendation of the new State Value Stream Map
Shifting of burden is an archetype that is used for reducing the time that is required for
the processing of the entire treatment process. This commencing of the entire section will be
performed as per process of reducing pressure from one single entity. This leads to the fact that
dependency process can be minimized and parallel functioning of different stages can be
performed. With the help of the implementation of the shifting of the burden archetype
understanding of the issue that is present can be made (Brzezina et al, 2017). This ensures the
fact that issues can be mitigated. This mitigation of the issue will be helpful in reducing time that
will be taken in commencing of the treatment process. Introduction of the WebPT will be made
for better commencing of the treatment process. WebPT is an Arizona based company that
provides web based electronic medical record. This is a patient data documentation software.
This insists the fact that processing of the data management processing will be performed in a
more efficient manner. This includes performing of the data scheduling and billing process. This
process will reduce the time that is required for data circulation and hence the waiting time will
get reduced.

In the new Value Stream Map, introduction of the WebPT is used. This is one of the
major aspect that helps in bettering of the data circulation process. In this value stream map the
patient needs to visit the hospital and provide their data to the WebPT. With the help of the data
that are stored in the WebPT, the registration process gets completed (Henrique et al, 2016).
After completing the data entry part in the WebPT, the data is circulated to the hospital records,
attending nurses, the attending physicians and the doctors. This is one of the main aspect that
ensures the fact that proper management of the data segmentation will be performed as per the
commencing of the treatment process. This is the main reason that delay and waiting phase of the
patients are reduced to its minimum level. During the circulation of the data the initial treatment
process starts. This process implements the overlapping of phases. This overlapping of phases
helps in reducing time. This reducing of required time gets decreased to half of the time that is
required for completion of the treatment process. The patients need to wait only in the section of
the visiting the ER room, nurse performing treatment and the doctors starting the treatment.
Consequences of the new State Value Stream Map
There will be both positive and negative consequences after the implementation of the
new Value Stream map. The positive consequence includes the fact that proper management of
the data will be made. This data circulation will be maintained and hence time required for
completion of the entire treatment process will be low.
Another major advantage of using the newly value stream map design is that the data that
will be collected will stay secured and hence can be used in case of emergency. This process also

provides a backup of the data that will ensure that better management of the treatment process
gets performed (Staff 2018). This is the main aspect that benefits the functioning process of the
data management.
The negative consequence that will be gained includes the cost that will be incurred in
implementation of the WebPT will not provide direct advantage to the turnover of the
organization. Instead revenue is spent in the implementation of the WebPT (Chau 2018).
Conclusion
Functional dependency on the system modelling has been an important aspect that
provides proper understanding of the importance that the tools provide. Convenience of the
business processing gets facilitated with the help of the tools. Integrating modelling tools in the
functional process of the business processing increases the efficiency in the functional
processing. Usage of WebPT might be enhancing the business management process. Data
circulation process gets better and this increases the efficiency.

Recommendations that are needed to be implemented are as follows: -
