Reflective Log on Emerging Business and Technologies (EBTE7075)

Emerging Business and Technologies
In the present era, I found that technology is performing a vital role by offering new
systems as well as business models that work in order to enhance competitive advantages. In
the course I experience that emergence in technology also contributes to improve the
decision-making which is witnessed with use of new technology by the lecturers for
explaining about the courses. The lectures in the course related to the updated or new
technological development led to innovation as well as new ways of managing the strategies,
organisations, and systems in a dynamic environment. In technical field, I gained wide
knowledge from the course that involves how businesses are utilizing the same for the
operations as well as bringing improvement.
In the entire course, I learnt some specific skills of emerging technologies, which can
be used in a business perspective, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Business Intelligence
(BI), Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and data analytics. As we know data analytics is a
huge process that requires the experience of data mining and data warehouse. Moreover, I
have gained the course experience related to basic tools of data mining, such as Weka-3. It
can be used for mining as well as decision-making based on data analysis and data
manipulation. I understand that course learning is every important in the life of the student as
this add new skills and bring development in the specific field. In the field of technologies, I
observed during the course that how other companies use data analytics that has been learn
by me. I understood in the course that data analytics involves data collection as well as big
data that is used in forming decisions as well as solving process. I believe that getting the best
lectures during the course from faculty contribute improving the practice for the use of data
centre as well as server management, which is highly required in business management.

I learnt about the various emerging technologies during my graduation and other extra
curriculum activities. My lecturer shown their confidence during the course about my
knowledge that can be utilized in the future to provide the recommendations to company
about new marketing strategies based on my knowledge about innovative and merging
technologies as well as business strategies. I know that every company requires expert in
field of technology with motive to effectively perform their operations. The expertise is
attained by me through this course.
Course experiences helped me to gain the knowledge and skills related to common
operating system that is used by business for bringing improvement in strategies and systems.
Some of common operating systems that are major used by businesses include Microsoft
Windows, macOS, and Linux (Melendez, 2019). During the course, I gained the experience
knowledge about use of these operating systems for solving issue of easy and smooth
working of a small and large business. For instance, a café uses a laptop that is equipped with
Microsoft Windows that assist in performing diverse functions like billing, making records,
searching for the records and many others.
During the course experience, my lecturer guides me well towards the learning which
became my strength in different operating system that helps me to link each department while
performing the business. The course knowledge will be used by me for providing
recommendations towards the innovative strategy for the company to use operating system
Microsoft Windows and MacOS for connecting with people at different places with different
devices. Moreover, I am aware of the fact that it is easily possible to share the file to another
device with the diverse operating system which has been learnt in course activities. I found
that business use the technology for client satisfaction as they transfer details of customer on
a real-time basis with help of software that allows keeping record when customer visits from

any corner (Anderson, 2016). In the course learning, I learnt the advantage of this technology
as it leads to quick decision making for offering effective services.
During the course experience, I realised my strength that includes information
security advisor, which is attained by me while studying about data breaches, privacy issues,
and many others. The privacy issues are faced by company with help of strategic innovation
in their digital process (Linton, 2019). I utilized my skills about information security advisor,
suggested for IaaS services as it include cloud-computing offering in which business offers
access to computing resources that include storage, servers, and networking. I believe that
organisation makes use of their platforms as well as applications within service provider
infrastructure after completing my reading in course work.
In the course, I gained the information about the new technology of cloud computing
that will bring new innovation in strategy as companies can add more payment options,
increase collaboration, enhance responsiveness, and improve customer insight and others
with low or no risk of any kind of failure in the environment. For instance, a banking
company used technology in order to secure data with low privacy issues. Considering this,
this can be said that it allows business to maintain privacy of data while performing business
processes as found in my course. As per my course learning, I would like to recommend
reactive innovation strategy for business in which they focus on operations with new strategy
and adopt same. As per research in the course field, I identified that Microsoft new OS update
is about to appear in market with the invisible background updates with deterministic,
reliable, and instant with no interruptions (Warren, 2019). I believe that business should
adopt an updated operating system that helps them with effective functions and improved
performance as discussed in course.

Although, I found that sometimes there might face failure after effective
implementation of the information security system which appraised my knowledge related to
IS. According to my personal understanding, this might happen due to lack of proper
implementation. Thus, this can be said that new technologies are effective in terms of
offering delight experience but only when there is proper implementation of strategies.
In the research related to the course subjects, I witnessed that up-gradation in
technologies is taking place on a frequent basis due to which businesses are making changes
in their innovative strategies. Technology can support businesses to be more innovation in
their operations as well as in development (Stergiou, Psannis, Kim & Gupta, 2018). I gained
the knowledge from course that new technology of artificial intelligence remains effective for
businesses in order to maintain a competitive advantage. In era of technology, it becomes
essential for me to gain knowledge of machine learning in the course learning which slowly
became my strength of machine languages (programing language) that helps me in handling
operations of a business. I observed that AI technology impact on different sort of industry
falling from retail to healthcare, hospitality to finance in order to enhance speed, output, and
many others.
Considering the knowledge, I witnessed that many more up-gradation are going to
update in the technology that provides the benefit in the course. As per my observation it is
recommended to automate decision-related to sourcing of products that involved procuring
raw material for productions. For instance, a sports shoes manufacturing company, Nike is
willing for raw material sourcing but requires timely sourcing due to change in the needs and
demands of customers. Then the knowledge of programming can be utilized to program AI in
such a way that it can lead to automatic supply chain processes after assessing needs in the
market (Krishnamoorthy & Rajeev, 2018). However, utilization of knowledge and research

requires appropriate resources that lead to accomplishment of proper implementation. I found
needs of resources could be in the form of financial, labour or license for all technology uses.
In the dynamic business, research shows that companies are looking for new
technology through which they can gain the first-mover advantage in the market as found in
the course learning. I believe that my interest in flying aircraft and knowing about technology
of drones made me capable enough to take business decision that can enhance revenue which
is possible with use of drone technology in the course experience. Drones enable robotic
automation that is available majorly for the service industry for offering the products to end-
users (Rayome, 2019). For instance; use of drones for carrying luggage of 5Kg from one
place to another, it can be serving the food with the help of drones and many others.
However, it also includes different drawbacks of its which include inappropriate use and not
following any restrictions.
I gained knowledge in the course material which shows how technology can be lead
to innovative strategy for business is to use drones in medical service for benefits of patients
who deal with any sort of disabilities which is an innovative idea. At the time of making
products available to medically injured patients, they can ensure proper programming of =
devices that has been done. In addition, I believe that this service will improve and
effectively used for help of people suck in any sort of disaster. I determined in the course
experience that the use of drones is not limited to any single industry but it is used in multiple
industries. However, biggest loophole of this strategy is that it will not be able to offer
emotional connect to patient that is only possible with the presence of human rather than
drones.
