Di Fabio, A. (2017). Positive Healthy Organizations: Promoting well-being,
meaningfulness, and sustainability in organizations. Frontiers in psychology, 8, 1938.
The following report was compiled by Annamaria Di Fabio who is engaged with the
Department of Education and Psychology in the University of Florence in Italy. The report was
published in the year 2017 on the 14th of November.
The theme that has been chosen for the project is based on the Well Being and
Sustainability. A secondary research methodology was followed in this particular research. The
topic has been therefore chosen on the lines of the theme. The topic of the following research is
as follows, “Positive Healthy Organizations: Promoting Well Being, Meaningfulness and
Sustainability in Organizations”.
The following research deals with the concept of the healthy organizations and begins
with the definition of the healthy organizations along with the healthy business. In the modern
days the management of the companies has been focusing on the well being of the workforce to
ensure the sustainability of the organization. According to, Di Fabio (2017) the presence of a
healthy workplace ensures the betterment of the employees and makes the organization healthy
and sustainable. In the healthy organizations, culture, climate and practices creates an
environment that is quite conductive to the health and safety as well as the increase in the
organizational effectiveness. The importance of creation of a proper workplace environment is
thus one of the most trending topics in the modern business market. Therefore the selection of
the topic is quite justified in the following case. The discussion of the topic and the different

detailed and transparent analysis of the importance of linking the workplace safety with
sustainability.
The importance of the topic lies in the fact that the competitive nature of the current
business market has provided one of the biggest challenges to the business organizations to
ensure sustainability. The study of (Hesketh & Cooper, 2017) has shown that in most of the
cases, it is seen that the workplace environment of the organization along with the absence of
proper safety and well being facilities for the workers have been the cause for the downfall of the
organization in the business market. The underlining of the strong link between the
organizational profitability and the well being of the workers in the different kinds of business
organizations is one of the most important areas of significance for the report (Di Fabio, 2017).
The report is also significant as because it will provided the different perspectives that will show
the importance of the healthy organizations to find the perfect balance in between the situation,
sector, culture and the well being and sustainability of the business. The following work also
discusses the sustainability of work-life projects and the meaning of work in healthy
organizations, stressing the importance of recognizing, respecting, and using the meaning of
work as a key for growth and success. Finally, the contribution discusses new research and
intervention opportunities for healthy organizations.
The contents of the text involve the improvement of the working conditions of the
workers in the business organizations and the workplaces forms an important agenda in the
strategy of the modern day business enterprises. The World health Organization is interested in
the factors that have an impact on the health and well being of the workers in the workplace. The
organization has categorized risks in different categories according to its importance and chances
of occurrence (Di Fabio, 2017). This includes Health risks, risks from injuries, risk from the

absence of the necessary facilities and risks from hazardous materials. On the other hand
according to, Hesketh & Cooper (2017) as work plays a major role in the health and well being
of the workers, it is important to recognize the negative impact on the workers of the current
world of work that is often characterized by globalization. The presence of insecurity within the
jobs, rising levels of unemployment, induction of technologies and some other crucial factors
presents a bleak future for the workforce and thus well being and sustainability of the workers in
the workplace is an important element in the modern day business enterprises. However, Miller
(2016) says that Robots and other kinds of computer assisted technologies have reduced the
scope of the Human Workforce in the organizations. On the other hand, the study of , Bae,
Asojo, Guerin & Martin (2017) revealed that the acoustic conditions of an office building,
absence of large windows, low air quality are some of the major factors that have an impact on
the workers productivity and sustainability.
`According to, Hesketh & Cooper (2017) the health and well being in the public sector
can be said to be one of the major perspective that needs to be implemented by the management
to ensure safety. The following scenario provides an uncertain future for the workforce which
again creates a great importance for the induction of an effective and sustainable strategy that
will help to promote the safety and security of the workers. The modern day business
organizations thus need to transfer themselves in such a manner that will help them to be healthy
and effective. The four different factors that can ensure the healthy tag for the business
organizations are as follows;
a. Individual
b. Group
c. Organizational

d. Inter organizational perspectives
At an individual level the management of the organizations are mostly involved in the
improvement of the psychological health of the workers along with the organization while on the
group level the management of the organization is mostly involved in respecting the members
and listen their views. According to, Bae, Asojo, Guerin & Martin (2017) the organizational
level on the other hand provides great challenges to the management and the main focus of the
business is to ensure the organization meets the goals of sustainability. On the other hand, Di
Fabio & Peiró (2018) has described that the inter-organizational level, the focus of the
management is to make the organizational activities more fluid and ensure the increase in the
flexibility. On the other hand, Schulte et al. (2015) says that the concept of the sustainability of
different kinds of work life projects refers to coherence, direction, significance and the
promotion of a healthy and sustainability of the business organizations. According to the study of
Tamers et al. (2019) the presence of job satisfaction, providing different kinds of facilities to the
workers helps to gain motivation and makes the workers productive in nature. The increase in the
productivity of the workers ensures well being and sustainability of the organization and also
increases productivity.
The report on the well being and sustainability based on the paper of Annamaria Di Fabio
has been one of the best examples of well being and sustainability. The selection of the topic has
been appropriate as the formulator of the report has provided all the necessary perspectives to
define the safety and security of the workers in an effective manner. The report has discussed all
the perspectives along with a clear and brief literature review that has focused largely on the
main elements of the study. The discussion of the perspectives in a detailed and clear manner

acts as the strengths of the study whereas too much discussion on the health related issues is one
of the limitations as because it leads to the absence of proper focus on other areas of the topic.
