organisation has been utilising the latest technology trends for unprecedented business

system implemented by the Emirates airlines would be analysed therefore, to find out the
competitive advantage that it provides the organisation in the recent times of exponential
advancements of Information Technology.
Background of the Information System
Emirates Airlines is situated in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is a ancillary of the
Emirates group and the government of Dubai and the Investment Corporation of Dubai has total
hold of the entire business going around for the airlines. The Emirates airline has been the
principal airlines in the Middle East, operating over 3,300 flights each week from the Dubai
international hub (Turban, Volonino & Wood, 2018). Due to the weaknesses that it has been
facing recently for the entry of the new airlines within the same international market, the
Emirates airlines has been implementing new technical ideas like the information system.
The two most important implementation of information system that has been developing
within the operations of Emirates airlines has been the Management Information System or MIS
and Decision Support System or DSS. The management information system is for the most part
alarmed with all the information gathered from internal resources and the generated data from
the processing of transaction systems and also makes it concise into succession of management
reports. The Decision Support System on the other hand utilizes the decisions made by the

strategies are providing the Emirates airlines to introduce a personal entertainment system within
a commercial aircraft. This also provides the organisation in having the aircrafts filled with
overhead light per seat, power supply in seat, 600 channels of entertainment on ICE and many
more automated advantages that cannot be delivered by any other airlines within the market,
therefore having a competitive advantage over all the others (Sweis et al., 2019).
