INTRODUCTION
Emotional intelligence can be understood as the competency to monitor, use as well as
manage emotions of an individual in positive manner. This ability is helpful in reducing stress
level, anxiety and makes an individual enable to communicate with others in an effective manner
(Bernardo and Presbitero, 2017). Main objective of emotional intelligence is to build strong
personal identity of a person that will lead them towards strong relationship that will remain for
longer duration. Further, it is helpful in attainment of personal as well as career goals by having
great mental and emotional stability. With this, a person is able to take better decisions by having
string connection with feelings. In the present report, three crucial aspects of emotional
intelligence such as self awareness, regulations as well as empathy have taken into consideration
with appropriate personal examples. The report is based on individual assessment such as
challenges, experience gain by a person throughout the learning process. It renders significant
information about value of these aspects to face personal as well as social challenges.

well as manage emotions, feelings and intuitions in an efficient manner. This competency is
crucial and plays a significant role in growth and success of a persona. With this, individual can
deal with situations in better manner which resulted attainment of personal as well as career
goals (Clark and Polesello, 2017). Sometimes, emotional intelligence (EI) is considered as more
important than intelligence quotient (IQ) as it helps in effective decision making. Therefore, each
and every individual is required to have strong emotional intelligence to achieve milestones in
academic as well as professional career. Certain important aspects of emotional intelligence are
given as under:
Self Awareness
As per this aspect people need to be aware about their emotions, feelings, intuitions and
more. Apart from this, they also need to aware regarding impact of their actions, ideas over other
people. By having strong self awareness an individual can easily control their actions and direct
them in right direction. For effective self awareness an individual should has capability to

also able to recognize my weak points that will create hurdle in future success. So, self
awareness is crucial aspect that assists an individual to overcome with different challenges. This
practice helped me a lot to recognize my own emotions, feelings so that I will be able to interact
with other person in an effective manner.
Self Regulations
The other crucial aspect of emotional intelligence is self regulation as per which an
individual requires to manage as well as regulate emotions in an effective manner. It is
associated with expressing emotions and feelings in an appropriate way rather keep control over
them. It is stated that self regulated people tend to have great flexibility thus able to adopt
changes in effective manner (Holtbrügge and Engelhard, 2016). In addition, these individuals
can easily deal with conflicts and difficult situations in an effective manner. This ability is
crucial and will help me to behave in an appropriate way so that situation can be handled
effectively. It is sated that individuals have tendency to give prompt reactions on sudden
situations without giving due considerations to situational factors. I also have this issue but self
regulations will help me to manage emotions and feelings effectively. By this way, I will be able
to handle different situation in an appropriate way. Therefore, by having strong self regulation I
can deal with different challenges arise during academic learning by regulating as well as
managing my behavior in right way.
Empathy:
It refers to the competency to understand feelings, emotions of other person in correct
way. It is not easy to understand emotional state of other people but it is crucial to have better
interaction. Empathy makes a person enable to provide proper solutions of the problems that are

In order to eradicate one of the social evil related to sexual harassment, there is a movement
called Me too has been started. It is sated that my self aware as well as self regulated behavior
helped me to understand the seriousness of movement. Empathic behavior helped me to have
better understating regarding problems faced by victims that is essential to give sigficant
contribution in movement to bring necessary positive changes within society. By this way,
emotional intelligence is crucial as well as helpful to acknowledge as well as deal with several
social issues in an efficient manner.
