4 quadrants of Johari window
The Johari window has been very helpful in identifying the areas of my strength and
weakness. I have also been able to get the result of the same test from two of my c.se friends.
This has really been very helpful for me as I was able to get the knowledge of what others think
about me. I will be able to use this knowledge in my future career. I have got this result that I
am able to keep my calm and do not angry about getting some angry situations in front of me. I
rarely get angry when I face some bad and frustrating situations. However, my other friend
disagreed with the fact that I am aware of my ongoing feelings. This is contradictory in nature.
Open/self-area or arena- I have got information about my strength and weakness from this
assignment. I have seen that I am aware of my anger level and I lose my calm only during some
extremes of frustrating positions. I have indulged myself into an open communication in this
area where I took the suggestions from m, my friends. I think that listening to the feedback and
suggestion of two of my close friends.
Blind spot
I have been able to find out some pieces of information that were not known to me but
somewhat or the other this information was present with my friends. For an instance, I knew that
I am a good team worker and I am an active listener while listening to the opinion of others.
Thus, this is a good opportunity for me to develop myself in the future. However, as per the
opinion of two of my close friends, I might be a good coworker for some but not for others.

Hidden area
There is some information that is kept hidden from others but they are known to me. I
like to communicate with people and ask for feedback from them, However, my colleagues or
friends are unaware of this as they feel that in order to avoid conflicts, I do not really open up
with people However I know that I do enjoy communication. The difference is that I often meet
people personally and ask for their opinion. I feel that asking this in front of others would be bad.
My friends think that English is not my favorite subject. They mostly disagree with it.
However, I am very fond of it and this was one of my favorite high school subjects. It is
only because of family pressures and some other incidents that I took up management. My
friends have disagreed with the fact that I like to help others see them in trouble. This is in sharp
contrast with my actual personality. I always like to help people whom I find in distress. I feel
that I am empathetic by nature and I cannot afford to see people in distress.
Unknown area
There are some elements that are hidden from me and from others as well. I might often
behave in a very bad and rough manner due to some of my bitter experiences that have occurred
in the past.

As per my observations, I have seen that one of my areas of weakness is a tendency to
avoid the conflict and the negotiations. This cannot be the solution every time, I have to work on
this part because there can be several complications arising in the course of the business
management. I have to pick up courage and involve myself into the conflicts that are taking place
in my organization. I can be a good leader in future only if I am able to understand the issue of
my team members and also help them to solve them.
There are times when I am not able to move forward after facing some failures or some
kinds of problems in personal or professional life. This can be a damaging impact on my career.
As per the opinion of my friends, I often get impulsive and I am not able to calm down after
going through some emotional disturbances. I am aware of this drawback because I often face
problems in moving on after suffering some failures. If I do not cope up with this then I will
never be able to prepare for compensating the loss. I will also not b able to encourage my
teammates. Thus, I have to fill myself with positive thoughts and a rejuvenated energy. This will
help me to face any failures without losing my calm.
I often find it tough to build a connection with people. However, I try to talk to them and
know about their feedback in privet but I am not comfortable in talking with them in public. This
has also been said by my friends that I often find it tough to work with all as a team. Having a
good connection with a handful of people will not help. Thus, I will have to overcome my
hesitation and talk with people in a proper way.

Reflect on what competencies you would like to develop in order to function well as a global

I will have to work over my public speaking skills. I have to make sure that I am not
feeling afraid or hesitant in speaking with people. In order to attain the post of an ideal leader, I
have to make sure that I am not feeling confused in speaking with my co-workers. I have to
realize that having a good rapport with some colleagues or friends will not be useful. I will have
to develop an all-rounder quality. As a leader or a manager, I cannot be concerned about the
interest of some handful of people. I have to take care of each and every member of my team.
For an instance, during the course of an ongoing group project, I have to cooperate and help each
and every member. I cannot keep my attention only on some of the members. This might make
them think that I am being biased and I lack proper leadership qualities. Thus, I will try to speak
with all the teammates so that I get to know about their individual concerns and help them
accordingly.
I have to make sure that I am not avoiding the conflict that is very likely to arise in the
lures of business management. In order o work as an ideal and effective leader in a culturally
diverse global world, I have to get into the conflicts and solve them. For an example, there can
be some employees facing abuses at the hands of other employees. There can be some black
skinned employees who might be suffering racial discrimination at the hands of other employees
Thus, in such cases, I cannot overlook these issues. This is a conflict for sure but at the
same time, there are several conflicts that need to be solved. Thus, I will have to enter into this

conflict and make sure that I am using the methods like negotiation and other conflict resolution
methods. I cannot back step in this situation. I have to step forward and make sure that this
problem is being solved somehow. I need to enjoy my work and make sure that I am investing
my energy and my potential in it. Unless I am being able to enjoy my work, I will not be able to
give in my hundred percent. Thus, I have to make sure that I start developing a positive attitude
towards my job.
