ABSTRACT
The aim of this report is analyse the relationship between servant leadership, emotional
intelligence and leadership performance as they are inter-related to each other. Emotional
intelligence helps in developing leadership skills and led to increase in performance leader, to
become a good servant leader one should develop the ability to understand their own and other
emotional mind set through the help of emotional intelligence behaviour. How can a person can
develop emotional intelligence behaviour themselves in order to become servant leader to
increase their own and team performance.

Servant leader can be defined as a leadership style as per which the interaction between
an individual and his fellow employees with an aim to achieve authority. A servant leader is a
one who focuses on helping others to develop and optimize their skills along with the willingness
to learn from them. (Eva et.al.,(2019))Servant leadership and emotional intelligence are
connected and has significant role in order to build a managerial leadership competencies that
helps to enhance managerial performance. In this report there is a discussion regarding inter-
relationship between servant leader, emotional intelligence and leadership performance. Lastly in
order to become servant leader the emotional intelligence areas that needs to enhance and
implement.

Inter-relationship between servant leadership, emotional intelligence and leadership performance
The servant leadership is a leadership philosophy that is built on belief in most effective
leaders that strive to serve others rather than show power and take control, it includes customers,
fellow employees, community and partners. The link between servant leadership, emotional
intelligence and leadership performance is that through servant leadership behaviour with
developing emotional intelligence in person can enhance leadership performance. The emotional
intelligence provides a ability to understand, mange and use their own emotions in a positive way
to communicate effectively, relieve stress, overcome challenges, defuse conflict and empathize
with others. ( Gandolfi, & Stone, (2018))For increasing performance of leadership person should
be develop servant leadership behaviour in them with developing emotional intelligence
behaviour this will ensure a positive environment in workplace and helps understanding co-
workers. As servant leadership with emotional intelligence is recognized as a key to every
possible human relationship, so the leader's emotional intelligence has a link into perception of
EI of employees. Leadership performance is depended on the behaviour with employees through
developing servant leadership method in their personality and adapt a emotional intelligence
method will help understand and identify problems and behaviour of others that will helps in
becoming good leader. As the emotional intelligence is mediating the relationship between

personal emotions, feelings, morals, behaviour, strength and weaknesses through understanding
them, this will helps bringing best to team members by leaders it can be possible through
developing self awareness. If the person is self-aware it will help in managing own actions and
emotions positively that led to effectiveness of organisation, in addition through self-aware
leader become more generous towards team. As a servant leader the ability to understand own
strength and weakness is important and there are many ways to improve self-awareness in
themselves.
Empathy-
Empathy is a ability to understand and sharing feelings of others, if a person is
able to empathise with team members and others the person can become good leader. Empathy is
key factor of effective servant leader through listening team and understand them help them for
their problems. If the leader is able to understand their team members it ensure comfortable, free
and engaging behaviour of employees in workplace. To improve empathy in order to become
good servant leadership.
