Subject: Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability of the individual to understand and manage own
emotions in order to make positive actions for the overcoming of challenges through making
proper communication (Joseph, Jin, Newman, & O'Boyle, 2015). Moreover, for my
professional development, it is important for me to manage my professional skills through the
understanding level of Emotional Intelligence. From the identification of the Emotional
Intelligence Assessment, I have understood that I have various strengths and the areas of
growth for my professional development.
My strengths include that I have good listening skills and at the same time I am empathetic
which can help me in my professional development through the determination of the feelings
of others. I can understand the feelings of others which can be helpful in making intelligent
decisions. Apart from this, I have the strength of self-regulation in which I have the skills to
manage my emotions in which I have the ability to manage the impulses in which I can easily
manage my inner resources. Moreover, self-control protects the person to undertake the
wrong and impulsive decisions (Middleton, Buboltz, & Sopon, 2015). I am also observed to
have social skills which enable me to make interactions with others and the ability to
persuade others which later help me in professional development.
For my professional development, I can focus on the certain areas which I can improve for
my professional development. I need to work upon the self-management. Moreover, self-
management is the part of the professional development which strives an individual to be
flexible and constructs the behaviour positively (CLIMB Professional Development and
Training, 2017). I can improve my relationship management skills which can be possible
when I have the ability to make the interactions better which can certainly be improved. I
need to make the relationship strategy by which I can make the better examination of
emotions of others and also making the good approaches in my personal and professional life.
Besides, I need to make the improvements in the communication skills in order to grow in my
career and also making the approach others. Further, I need to be highly empathetic without

passing the judgements. Furthermore, I need to be more collaborative which is important part
of emotional intelligence and can help me in growing in my career.
For getting the maturity on the emotional level, I would make steps for my professional
development. First action that would make is the ability to manage the emotions and the
behaviours through the self-regulation which can be helpful in the controlling of disruptive
and impulsive emotions. Second step that I would undertake is development of empathetic
behaviour which can be helpful in the identification of skills of others. Further, I would make
third action by the development of social skills which can be helpful in the managing of the
conflicts and the ability to inspire others which can be the way to develop my career. This can
be possible through self-awareness which can be helpful in improving emotional intelligence
(Dolev & Leshem, 2017).
Sincerely,
