INTRODUCTION
Emotional intelligence is determined as the ability of determining and managing own as
well as others emotional state (Sánchez-Álvarez, Extremera and Fernández-Berrocal, 2016). It is
basically acknowledged as the skill which allows individual to handle their emotions in positive
way and relieve their stress effectively in order to overcome day to day life challenges. In the
present project, SWOT analysis of an individual has been conducted in order to determine their
strength as well as weaknesses so that appropriate action associated with the same can be
adopted for improvising emotional intelligence.
Personal SWOT analysis
I have used SWOT analysis as the core model for determining my own strength as well as
weaknesses associated to the emotional intelligence. Developing knowledge on my own
emotional areas it would be easier for me to control several emotional state experienced by me at
workplace. My personal self reflection have been stated as below:
Strength Weaknesses
The first and foremost strength of mine is my
sensitive behaviour which directly provides
support to me in understanding other's
emotional start and feelings.
Another strength of mine is adaptability and
strength over understanding others point of
view. This simply helps me out in developing
good relationship with the team members.
Also, this strength of mine is also beneficial for
me resolving conflict kind of situations at
workplace.
As per my own evaluation on emotional state it
can be said that I am quite low in expressing
my emotions to other. This is so because I do
not like to express my emotional state to
others. This behaviour of mine often develops
range of misunderstanding among relations.
Opportunities Threat

which I have felt stressed and realised that negative sort of emotional state at workplace. The

While working with the firm, I felt emotionally stressed out because of project operator.
This is so because, project operator have forced me to work more even after completion
of the working hours without providing any kind of additional benefits. The main reason
behind this behaviour of project operator was my past conflict with him. This have placed
higher influence over my emotional state as I was feeling helpless.
Another instance associated with workplace experience is discrimination. I have
personally realised that I am the most hard-working employee in my team but still I have
not received employee of the month award and reward from my superiors. This is so
because of strong personal relations of other team member with the project head. This
have influenced my project head to award them with the award that is employee of the
month.
Next example of negative emotional state from workplace experience is conflicts with the
team members. This is considered as the another emotional low time when I was not at
all feeling good as I am very sensitive person and I can execute my work responsibilities
properly if I am not sharing good relations with the team members.
From overall experience of mine related to workplace, it can be that there are two main
form of emotional trigger or causes at workplace. Identification of these triggers directly helps
me out in controlling my responses towards the same. The main triggers are unfair treatment at
workplace and personal life issues. By having having effective knowledge on my own triggers I

fascinated me a lot. I have seen that my senior has lost his son in the major car accident. The
respective senior have taken few days off from office. The person was working in very important
project and was leading that project across at national level. Absence of this person has delayed
few meetings of the company as no one else owns capability replace this person. By observing
delay in work of company that respective senior have controlled his emotional state and joined
office again in just few days in order to execute his job related responsibilities. It can be said that
initiatives taken by this person was highly appreciable as no one has expected that he will join
the office in this much less period of time. The overall explained situation has placed positive
impact on me as I have realised that individual can easily controlled their emotional state if they
have strong will power. Efforts placed by my senior have motivated me a lot and supported me
to develop my own control over my personal emotional state.
On the basis of overall information expressed on self reflection section associated with
emotional intelligence, it can be said that it is essential for me to improvise ability towards
expressing my emotions front of my colleagues. Along with this, it is highly important for me to
keep my personal and professional life separate and do not mix up their emotion with one
