INTRODUCTION
Employability skills are the general skills or the transferable skills needed by the
individuals which involves the development of the knowledge base, expertise level and the
mindset. These skills are important for the employee to perform the job effectively and thereby
assist the organisation to attain success and profitability (Ito and Kawazoe, 2015). This report is
based on the Southern Cross Health care which is a provider of health and social care services,
through the provision of care centres for elder and younger people, headquartered in UK. This
report will throw lights on the relevant employability skills which the employee and the
employer needs to develop to grasp the employment opportunities.
MAIN BODY
Employability skills are very important for the employer and the employee to perform the
job effectively. These skills greatly helps the employee within the respective organisation to
attain the goals in a timely manner. It mainly consist of the knowledge, well expertise and the
effective mind set which assist the employees within the organisation to accept challenges and
achieve success for the organisation. Moreover this skills act as a performance indicator for the
employers as this act as performance indicators to judge the performance of the employees
within the organisation and necessary trainings are provided if employee lacks these skills and
also helps in the better recruitment of the employees according to the requirement within the
respective organisation.
Apart from this, In context to the employee within the organisation employee skills helps
them to find better job opportunities and provides a level of their success and growth and provide
career advancement opportunities. With the fast changing global environment employees needs
to enhance their skills so as to work competitively and enhance the productively level within the
organisation. Their are some of the basic employability skills which is the major requirement for
the employer and the employee to perform effectively and efficiently (Jackson, 2014).
Proper Communication skills- It is the basic requirement skill that is needed by the
employer and the employee to interact with each other and share their problems and
ideas. If the employer have effective communication skills it will help in providing clear
and proper direction to its employees which assist them to work properly and attain goals.

Problem Solving Skills- This skill help the employee and the employer to handle all the
complex issues and problems and provide remedies which assist in problem solving. In
context to employer and the employee this employability is very important to attain
success and profitability within the respective organisation. Employer and employee
should be patient while understanding the cause behind the problem, this helps in easy
finding of the solution. This type of skill is very important for the employer and the
employee in eliminating the barriers towards the success at the work place. Hence it helps
in creating a harmonious work place environment (Ju and et. al., 2014).
Planning and Organising- This is the most effective employability skill which is needed
by the employer and the employee to properly plan and organise their work. Proper
planing and organising of work, thereby by arranging proper resources and effective tools
and technology it led to the proper execution of work by the employer and the employee.
Employer needs to plan and set timelines for coordinating the task and takes initiatives
and make decisions on time. Hence this skill is also needed by the employee to manage
time and priorities and work effectively and attain results within the set deadline.

the task effectively. This is related to the knowledge about the technology which the
employees have to use regarding executing the work. It is the duty of the employer within
the respective social care organisation to provide proper training and guidance to its
employees to treat and care the employees effectively by using the proper tools and
technology as well as the resources. Under the respective social care organisations proper
direction and guidance related to technology which is used in the care centres should be
provided to the employee so as to make them work effectively and provide effective
services to the patients.

with other employees. This skill needs to be effectively improved so as to communicate
and interact with other employees properly and provides them clear directions regarding
the work. In order to develop this skill I need to start interacting with friends and start
reading books and journals that would enhance my communication skills and I can easily
share ideas, thoughts with the employer at the respective organisation.
Team Working – In order to work collaboratively, I need to develop team working skills
so as work effectively and achieve common goals and objectives. Hence by developing
the communication skills I could effectively communicate with each other and works
with other employees. For attaining the same skill I need to perform assignment in a
group which will help me out in working with the group and would definitely increase
the chances of developing this skill and would result in attaining positive outcomes
(Riebe and Jackson, 2014).
