INTRODUCTION
Employability skills are defined as those skills which are needed by an individual for
making them employable (Ito and Kawazoe, 2015). These include various other skills like
subject understanding, employers set of skills and technical knowledge required for
accomplishing different tasks. Employability means to posses these skills and knowledge and
utilising the assets and performing well and representing in front of employer. There are various
theories for employability skills which are discussed in this report such as Clifton Gallup
strengths and John Hollands theory. It also consists of professional qualification for health and
social care, job interview questions according to STAR method and description of a CV.
Importance of employability skills
Employability skills have been a decisive factor by which employees judge candidates
and recruit them. There are various skills which enhances the employability of a person. They
are communication skills, teamwork, organisation and problem solving.
Current skills
Communication skills- It is very crucial employability skill for an individual. The
person must develop good communication skills both written and spoken. An individual must
know how to write mails and letters and prescriptions in case of healthcare nurses, assistants or
managers.
Time management skills – A proper time management is required by an employee for
managing tasks given to him. Time management will help to complete all tasks in given time.
Team work – Employers are looking for a person who can build efficient and peaceful
working environment. Team building skills are very important to develop positive workplace.
Adaptive skills – These are practical skills which are everyday skills required for
functioning and meeting the demands of organisation workplace.

he should develop skills for handling other medical functions like checking pulse rate, analysing
ECG, prescribing first care medication to people, etc.
Arranger- There are various situations where complex situations occurs in operations. When a
person is pursuing the career in healthcare and social he should be quick and knows how to work
in keeping the patient’s in a good condition.
Communication- The health service assistant should be a good communicator. He must know
how to interact with people and give them a peaceful environment to rest and get well
soon (Simatele, M., 2015). Communication is known as the key to make people
comfortable.
John Holland's theory defines personality of a person by these six categories such as
realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. According to the
information of experience in past job and personal skills that a person possess, his personality is
of conventional nature if he likes to work in social and healthcare. This person has a soft corner
towards people and likes to help people by serving them in various nursing homes. As per my
past job i.e. nursing work, I got various incentives, and most important I got inner peace by
serving people. . The best part of using the above thesis is to learning lot of new things from
them in near future time. knowing the type of your personality helps you to select type of
industry or job highly suitable for you any if you are lagging behind because you do not possess
some special quality which industry needs then that quality can be developed by you to achieve
your target.
