INTRODUCTION
Employability skills is a combination of some skills and behaviours that plays an
important role for working any type of job role in any type of industry (Collet, Hine and Du
Plessis, 2015). Some skills which makes an individual an effective employee and professional
includes: communication, team-working, problem-solving etc. This study is going to discuss the
importance of analysis of own learning as it helps an individual able to get to know both areas in
which they are good and in which they are not good. Further, it has also shown importance of
personal and professional development plan by which an individual identify its weaknesses and
appropriate ways of decreasing weaknesses. For managing formal meetings, some skills such as
confidence, communication etc.

Evaluating and analysing own learning and development for work
Each organization has an effective HR department because without HR all activities can
not be performed. There are several tasks which are being performed by HR such as hiring and
recruiting, motivating, training to employees. The main aim of HR and HR trainee of Tata
consultancy services is to help this company in accomplishing its goals by hiring the best and
skilled workforce and make an effective Woking environment (Jackson, 2015). For this purpose,
there is a requirement to have knowledge of different areas and skills such as problem solving,
communication, time-management, decision-making, motivation and teamwork. As a HR trainee
there are some areas in which they are good and some areas which they need to improve.

Communication skills: Communication is the main skill which is essential in personal
and professional life. As a HR trainee it is important to have this skill because HR trainee is
mainly responsible for hiring the best employees and for that they need to have this skill for
communicating to employees and diverse workforces. For introducing company's policies to all
employees also they need this skill. This is an area which need to be improved more as I do not
feel comfort in communicating with all type of people and customers. It is a weakened area
which requires improvement for work development (Arnold and et.al., 2015).
Problem solving skills: Any type of organization face some problems which need to be
solved in an effective manner. Some common problem which Tata consultancy services face is
labour turnover, conflicts, poor quality etc. For solving these problems and handling critical
situations there is a requirement to have knowledge of effective problem-solving skills. As a HR
trainee, it is my weakness as I need to increase ability to solve any type of problem and it only
happens due to innovative and critical thinking and analysing skills.
Team-working: Team working is the main key of the success of an organization. There
are different types of people who are specialized in their particular area but still they all have
some areas in which they lack. For improving quality and reducing errors in projects, it is
important to have team working skills in employees and HR trainee. Team working helps an
organization and employees in producing errorless and qualitative work and also improve
interpersonal relations of employees (Holland, 2019). This is area which does not need any
improvement. As a HR trainee, I can work in a team and increase learning opportunities.
Decision-making: Decision-making is also critical for the success of the company. An
effective decision help the company in getting determined results. The performance and
effectiveness of all activities is mainly depended on the final decision made by HR and the
manager. For this purpose, it is also important to have an effective decision-making skills and
help employees to give appreciation for their efforts. It is my strength which helped me out in
work development. While making decision, I face several problems but having ability to analyse
critically makes me able to take decision.
Time-management: Time management is a skill which helps an individual and the
company in submitting important projects on the time and delivering services to customers
before the given deadline. It improves brand image of the company and also decrease stress

level from working environment. As an HR trainee it is important to improve this skill as I felt
that I miss the given deadline of projects and cannot accomplish all functions on the time (White
and et.al., 2017).
Tools and techniques to identify and enhance transferable and interpersonal skills
There are 2 types of skills which an individual learn throughout his/her life and these type
of skills are considered as transferable skills. On the other hand, some skills which an individual
use in their daily life while communicating with other people. It mainly refers behaviours which
people learn by themselves and working in different situations such as: patience, flexibility,
active listening etc. There are several tools by which all these skills can be improved and
analysed which are being discussed as below:
Using variety of learning media: Transferring of learning and improving transferable
skills, individuals can use different learning media such as: text and imagery to video and audio.
By using different learning media like narration, pictures and text they can help themselves in
improving learning transfer and improving all transferable skills (Andersen, 2018). It is also
stated that those people and individuals who use relevant visuals, they are more able to retain
more informations and score higher in transfer test than those people who only use text. Some
transferable skills which can be improved by this way includes:
Research and analytical skills: Research and analytical skills the ability to get and find
informations quickly. This ability plays an important role in marketing function and recruitment
process. For identifying and analysing relevant informations about market trends and others
quickly can only be possible by having this skill.
Data analysis: Data analysis is a transferable skill of understanding customer metrics and
evaluating informations in both positive and negative manner. Data analysis or interpretation of
informations related to the market, customers and employees help the company and individuals
in making all informations related to the project and purpose of the company.
Promoting positive working environment: Positive working environment is an
effective way of improving and analysing own interpersonal skills. By working in an effective
working environment, HR trainee and individuals can identify their weaknesses by
communicating and interacting more people. With the help of this way, different interpersonal
skills can be identified such as:

Flexibility: Flexibility plays an important role. It is an ability of an individual to adapt change
and every type of situation without getting affected (Woodburn, 2017). There are several
changes occur in an organization like changes in customers needs, market changes, political,
economical and other changes. Due to lack of flexibility skills, it can hamper the performance of
the company so, it is important to have flexibility skills.
Patience: It is an ability to tolerate problems and become calm in all type of situations. This skill
help out to HR trainee and individuals in solving all type of problems in a very efficient manner.
Having patience in all situation also keeps happy to others and themselves. It is the ability which
person have to develop themselves and at their own.
Implementation of personal and professional development plan
Professional and personal development plan also plays an important role as it helps out to
people in improving those areas in which they are not good and wants to improve (Choy and
Chua, 2019). After analysing own performance and learning skills, some areas has been
identified which needs to be improved.

Organizing and managing formal business meetings by planning, organizing and participating
Business meeting also plays an important role as it is a gathering of staff members for
sharing ideas, business strategies, goals, challenges and further processes. It is important for
employees to have proper knowledge about company's aims and vision for which they are
recruited (Huang and Pearce, 2015). For introducing and communicating aims and vision,
company requires to held business formal and team meeting. There are some steps of managing
an effective team meeting in an organization such as:
Setting a goal: Setting a clear goal and the main reason of conducting meeting for
making all staff members aware about in an efficient manner is the first step. For example: If the
reason of team meeting is developing a new product or modification in existing product, so there
is a requirement to ask all members to come with a list of ideas. It is the best and effective way
of starting up meeting and ideas.
Using visuals for communication: It is not possible to keep all ideas and informations in
the mind so, it is important to record all informations. Some tools like mind map can help them
out to accomplish this purpose. Flow chart, Gantt chart are other example. For following this
step, it is also important to have an effective verbal communication skills for exchanging views
(Noe and et.al., 2017).
Creating a meeting agenda: Some people think that creating a meeting agenda is not
essential but for managing meeting according to the well-organized agenda, time can be saved

while accomplishing objectives. There is a requirement to set prioritize work and topics and
giving them estimated time. For this step, it is important to have an ability of time-management.
Maintaining meeting norms: There are several norms which needs to be followed for
making business meeting successful. The main ethic and responsibility of an effective team
manager and HR is to make all employees feel comfortable by which they can share all
informations efficiently. All electronics devices like smart phones, pagers should be silenced as
these decrease concentration of members. Everyone should be allowed and given equal chance to
voice their opinion, and they all should be respected. Allows team members to ask question and
solve their doubts and queries and to encourage openness. All these norms can make a meeting
successful (Osmani and Kochov, 2016). For performing this step, it is important to have
knowledge of basic ethics and patience for being calm in all situations.
So, from the above it can be said that for managing meeting and performing any type of
activity, employability and transferable skills play an important role.
Reflection:
As per the above study I can say that all skills described above plays an important role.
Each skill play role in different area and in different stages, situations. For example:
Communication skills play an important role in managing meeting, dealing problems with
customers and in marketing department. I can say that this skill is not only beneficial in personal
life but also in professional and all stages. With the help of this skill I can influence different
type of people. From the above discussed skills and weaknesses I get to know that I need to
improve problem-solving and time-management skills. Improvement of these skills are also vital
because Nowadays people became frustrated due to work load, and they cannot submit project
on the time. By improving time-management and decision-making skills I can complete all tasks
on the time and can also spare time for social works and for family which is important for being
happy and satisfied. I want to change something for taking career opportunities in the future. I
got to know that flexibility and leadership skills. Leadership skills consists of several skills so, I
need to focus on improving leadership skills. An effective leader is one who has an ability to
adapt and make himself as per the situation and circumstances. For example: If an organization
does not have skilled workforce then an effective leader choose autocratic leadership style

because as per the autocratic style, employees are not allowed to take participation in decision-
making skills. Due to lack of skills, leader changes his/her style. On the other hand, when an
organisation have enough time and skilled workforce then an effective leader implement
democratic leadership style. In this style all employees are allowed to give suggestions in
decision-making process which motivates them and also help the company in making an
effective decision. So I think that I need to focus on improving each quality which an effective
leader have and with all skills I can improve myself and take growth in my professional career.
Ethics also plays an important role as above I have not talk about importance of workplace ethics
but with the help of ethics I will get to know the difference between the right and the wrong
which can solve many problems.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it has been summarized that transferable and interpersonal skills
like communication, problem-solving, decision-making, time-management and flexibility skills
played a vital role in accomplishing goals of own and others. Further, this study has shown
importance of strategies and tools which help an individual in improving all those skills in which
they lack. This employability skills of study also discussed the importance of personal and
professional development plan as it helped an individual in improving all those skills which they
need to improve and take career opportunities.
