Introduction:
Personal reflection is one of the major ways of presenting own learning from a course
(Allenet al. 2019). The aim of this paper is to evaluate what I have learned during a course.
As I am working in a health and social care sector, I will reflect both my short and long term
goal in future. Moreover, I will also evaluate my learning from the course.
Short term goal:
Developing short term goal is the matter of utmost importance as it helps in
overcoming the issues related to procrastination. This is the mode of setting short dead line,
which can motivate the people to take consistent action with utmost efficiency (Choyand
Chua 2019). It is worthy to note here that developing short term goal helps in creating
momentum and help the people to stay in track and keep them motivated. At the same time,
developing short term goal also help to boost self confidence among the people.
By developing short term goal, I have become able to attain regular feedback and
improve my performance level accordingly in order to accomplish my career goal. My short
term goal is to improve my IT skill. As confidentiality is the critical factor in health and
social care sector, by improving IT skill, I will be able to store and retrieve necessary patient
related information as required. In addition, as I am going to open a hospital in January, my
short term goal is to become the ward befriender in the hospital and thereby keep the patients
happy.
Long term goal:
Developing long term goal help the people to explore comprehensive direction and
attain a sense of purpose, which is the key of accomplishing the career goal with utmost
efficiency (Baroneet al.2019). By developing long term goal, I am gained better

understanding about the possible roadblocks and take comprehensive action for the sake of
mitigating same. My long term goal is to do a course on mental health nursing and become a
successful nurse. The long term goal in the context of SMART objective is as follows:
Specific This goal is specific as l wish to become the nurse in future.
Measurable This goal is measurable as by becoming a nurse, I will be able to attain
long term success from the career.
Achievable This goal is achievable as I have to develop required skills and
competencies in order to become a nurse.
Realistic This goal is realistic as I wish to open my own hospital in future.
Timely This is timely as I will complete my course on nursing within two years.
Personal reflection on the class lessons:
Initially, from the course I have learned about employability, Employability in its
simplest form is defined as the process of being capable of doing job. This is the ability to
move efficiently within the labor market in order to realise own potential through sustainable
employability. From the course, I have also gained insight regarding employability assets,
deployment, presentation and personal circumstances, which are the four major elements of
effective employability. A set of achievements is one of the major aspects of effective
employability, which comprises of skills, understandings and personal attributes. Through the
sense of achievement, people become able to explore employment opportunity and gain
success from their chosen occupation (Rockman 2019).
From the course, I have also learned about self-awareness, which is very much needed
in order to become more employable. Self-awareness is defined as the way of understanding
own strengths and weaknesses along with conscious and unconscious elements that make the

people unique. Self-awareness comprises of multiple things such as thoughts, feelings,
abilities, experiences (Richardson et al. 2019). By developing self-awareness, I have become
able to manage my thoughts and feelings and thereby act consciously.
From the course, I have also learned about the significance of career panning. From
the course, I have gained knowledge on the fact that in order to become successful working
professional, career panning is one of the most important factors as it help the people with
much needed direction and thereby make it clear for the to see themselves in future. In
addition, career planning also help the people to explore their strengths and weaknesses and
the skills that are required in order to accomplish the goal. I have gained insight about
different stages of career planning and explore the way, through which competitive edge can
be acquired. In addition, this course has also helped me to gained understanding about the
method of critical incident analysis. This is the more detailed discussion regarding something,
which can have a big impact on the placement (Sheehanet al. 2019). From the course, I have
learned about reflective writing which is the key of making implications of an experience and
action.
Conclusion:
To conclude, it can be said that personal reflection is one of the major ways of
presenting own learning in a synchronised manner. In this paper, both my short term goal of
completing the course successfully and the long term goal of becoming a nurse have been
presented. In addition, in this paper I have also highlighted my learning from the course.
