INTRODUCTION
Employability skills is concerned with the set of transferable skills and important
personal attributes which are highly valuable by employers and essential for effective
performance at the workplace. These skills are generic in nature and are common and acceptable
to all work roles and work places across different industry types. These skills are very important
for the employees working in health and social care centres because it requires huge resources. It
is helpful in various aspects of the operations and functioning and are treated as building block
for the career of the employees.

They are sometimes regarded as soft skills, foundational skills, job readiness skills, etc. They are
skills, qualities, attributes which are assumed by employers that they are essential for workplace.
There are various skills which are essentially important to be owned by the employees in the
health and social health care centres. Such skills are discussed below :
Foundational skills : These skills and training must be developed through the learner by
identifying how foundational training will be delivered and skills outcomes will be
accomplished . There are various types of foundational skills which must be there in
employee at health and social care sectors and they are like being organised, arrive work
on time, be dependable, have a favourable attitude towards work, be flexible and
adaptable, maintain personal hygiene, etc.
Interpersonal skills : They are the skills which are used in everyday while
communicating and interacting with other people. Individuals who have strong
interpersonal skills are tend be more successful in future course of life. It involves skills

Team work : In today's business world, people are required to work in team so that they
generate more productive outcomes. It is very important to understand the importance of
working in team. In health care sectors, multidisciplinary teams are formed so that people can
work more collectively and working with different age groups people of different gender,
religion, etc. will be able to develop more healthy and friendly relations. It further helps in
resolving the different opinions of the people by collaborating and contributing to the team
results. While working in team also useful in identifying and analysing own skills and strengths.
Problem solving : In a large organisations like health and social care sectors, when
people work together then it can lead to the conflicting interest and opinions. Employability
skills play a very crucial role in solving the various problems which may have arise. It means
determining answers when you are featured with difficulties or occurrences. It pertains being
able to use a logical process to figure things out. It is also accomplish-able to form judgement
and solve problems on your own, but being required to do so with others adds an extra concept to
the situation.
Positive attitude : For successfully accomplishing business goals and objectives, it is
highly advantageous that a person must keep their attitude positive towards each and every
activity of the health and social care centre. When a person or employee will be free mind with
positive attitude in its working then they will be able to thinking more suitable plans and ways
for accomplishing business goals and objectives.
Willingness to learn : Due to highly dynamic business world, it is important to adopt
changes in the changing business environment. These changes places need and willingness for
the people working in the health and social care sector to learn more. When people will have the
desire to learn new and efficient styles of working then employees will be able to attain business
objectives more effectively and efficiently. This shows that the person is happy with their job
and satisfied to work and learn more things.

Self management skills : It is concerned with being able to perform the job without
having someone to keep check all the time. It helps in developing time management strategies,
setting priorities, which helps in developing deadlines so that work can be accomplished on time.

Therefore, the above discussed skills has a greater impact on my life and by adopting
those skills, I am able to develop my overall employability skills. These skills has helped in
making more suitable decision in the business regarding the health of patients. With the help of
communication skills, I am able to easily coordinate with different departments of the health and
social care sector who assist me in different surgeries. This helped me in making people clear
with the policies and procedures of the organisation. By communicating with different people, I
am able to know the different perceptions of the staff members. Team work is very important for
me in health and service sector. It is because while assisting any surgery or operations, I need a
group or team of 5 to 6 persons who used to assist me. By learning team building spirit I am able
to create understanding among the people about the importance of working in team. With this, I
have clarified people that for the quick recovery of the patient, every individual has to work in
team so that they are aware about the condition and well being of the employees. When

by them. It is very important to keep positive attitude while working in health and social care
sectors because when I will work with positive mind I will feel comfortable and happy while
working and will be able to treat the patient appropriately.
Apart from this, it will also help me in developing good relations with the patients so that
they become happy and returns back to me in future also. I have a strong problem solving skills
which helps me in identifying and analysing the the different problems faced by the patients and
other staff members. For instance, some people were suffering from the problem of
unavailability of various medicines suggested by the doctor, so for this purpose, I started
suggesting only those medicines to the patients which are easily available in different shops.
Apart from this, people also faces problem of shortage of blood so for this, I started organising
blood donation camps once in a month where majority of the people come and donate their blood
which are preserved and used in need. It will minimise the problem of scarcity of blood and also
organisation will be able to contribute in the society. Apart from all this, I am highly obsessed to
learn new and innovative things. When ever new medical equipment is introduced in the market
which can provide better health benefits to the patients, I am keen on adopting such equipments
and learn about them more appropriately so that patients are given best treatments.
Apart from positive aspects, which I have experienced by adopting employability skills at
my workplace, there are certain skills in which I have faced various problems that has become a
hurdle in success of the organisation. I lack planning and organisational skills which is very
