 Make sure that all the departments are in compliance with the hospital’s rules and
regulations.
1.2 EVALUATE OWN EFFECTIVENESS AGAINST THE DEFINED OBJECTIVE
As I am appointed as the administrator in the NHS, my responsibility is to keep a
check on the day to day activities in the hospital. I have observed that the aim and
objective set by the organisation are quite relevant and connected to each other
(Bowman et al., 2017). Therefore I have implemented some procedures which help
in the improvement of the efficiency of my team like:
Increase the responsibility of the team members
As per my innovative planning, I divided the entire work and work-related
responsibility among the employees. Therefore each member has some of the other
responsibility to fulfil which also enhances the team's effectiveness and the efficiency
(Bowman et al., 2017).
Develop work knowledge
I arranged a training session for the staff members so as to improve the level of
knowledge of the workers regarding their work in the organisation (Bowman et al.,
2017).
Terms and policies
I have observed critically the work and the rules and policies of the staff members
and the organisation. I have observed that the policies of the organisation cover the
employment and health of the staff members of the organisations (Bowman et al.,
2017).

1.4 MOTIVATIONAL TECHNIQUES CAN BE USED TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF
PERFORMANCE
Motivation is the psychological phenomenon which acts as the reason for the
conduct or the act of the people in a particular manner (Bowman et al., 2017). There
are many motivation techniques given by various psychologists, but the motivation
technique used by me are:
Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory
Based on the research conducted by the Herzberg, people’s job satisfaction is
basically based on two factors i.e. factors of satisfaction and factors of dissatisfaction
(Bowman et al., 2017). The drivers like performance, responsibility, opportunities etc.
are called the motivators or the satisfiers where the hygiene or the dissatisfiers are
working conditions salary, physical workplace etc. This theory helps in motivating the
people by making the factor disappear that bothers the employees (Bowman et al.,
2017).
McClelland’s need theory
One of the well-known need-based theory of motivation is the McClelland needs a
theory which is closely related to the learning theory because the psychologist
believed that the needs are acquired or learned by the events or the surroundings of
the people they work in. The theory gave three needs i.e. the need for achievement,
need for power and need for affiliation (Bowman et al., 2017).
Need for achievement means need to excel in the workplace and to get successful
(Ginter et al., 2018).
Need for power is related to the making an impact over others, the desire of
influencing the others and to have an authority in the workplace (Ginter et al., 2018).
Need for affiliation is defined as the desire to establish good interpersonal
relationships with the people (Burgoon et al., 2016).

TASK 2
2.1 DEVELOP SOLUTIONS TO THE WORK BASED PROBLEMS
Appraiser
There are few issues that we encounter in our workplace lie the communication gap,
lack of the staff as compared to the patients which also affects the service quality of
the NHS. Other problems faced are the much of the avoidable patient days, lack of
employed physicians, unhealthy community due to the increase in the population etc.
(Gordon, 2016).
Appraise
One of the solutions to the problems increases the staff capacity of the hospital as
well as the infrastructural development of the hospital so that they have enough
space to accommodate all the patients. Also, more doctors need to be appointed so
that the patients are provided with timely treatment (Hillier, 2016).
Appraiser
Another major issue faced is poor communication among the providers and the
disorganization in the workplace. It is impossible to know who was the last person
who used the tool and where was it kept after the usage (Messum et al., 2015).
Appraise
A strict policy has to be formed and implemented in the hotel so as to make sure the
things are organized in the proper manner and the hygiene is taken care of in the
hospital (Messum et al., 2016).

2.2 COMMUNICATION STYLES
Appraiser
Communication is an integral part of the success of the NHS which comprise of all
the communication skills like writing, speaking, reading and listening. There is a
need to develop and create an understanding which can evolve the smooth
communication with the NHS (Burgoon et al., 2016).
Appraise
The communication types followed in NHS are verbal communication i.e. telephonic,
face to face video calls, emails, memos etc. and non-verbal communication i.e. dress
code, body language, logos, maps, body language etc. (Hillier, 2016).
Appraiser
At the top level in NHS the communication goes both ways i.e. vertically i.e. through
non-verbal communication and horizontally i.e. meeting, emails etc. At the middle
level at NHS, the horizontal communication is followed and the structure is quite
flexible. At the lower level in NHS also both horizontal and vertical mode of
communication is followed (Moss, 2018).

2.3 IDENTIFY THE EFFECTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES
Appraise
In terms of effective employability skills, time management is the indispensable
driver. The time management can be described as the planning and organising the
tasks in hand. Therefore these time management strategies will help in determining
the area where efforts are needed to be made (Taylor, 2016).
Appraiser
Diary management is the technique which helps in prioritising the task and also
ensures the timely completion of the task. Maintaining the diary also helps in
remembering the tasks (Taylor, 2016).
Appraise
Self-organising is also the effective time management technique as it is really
important that the employees right starting from their thoughts organise themselves.
Therefore self-organising will help in keeping the mind clear and also enhances the
productiveness of the NHS (Taylor, 2016).
Appraiser
Also, the identification of bad habits and organising the atmosphere also helps in
effective management strategies. Also, the reminder setting can be helpful (Taylor,
2016).

TASK 4
4.1 TOOLS AND METHODS FOR DEVELOPING THE SOLUTIONS TO THE
PROBLEMS
Appraiser
The procedure followed in the NHS for solving the problem is an eight-step
procedure where at the first step the problem evaluated and then the procedure
starts. After that, the information is gathered regarding the problem (Moss, 2018).
Appraise
Then the problem is divided into several parts and the solution is been identified. The
list of all the possible solution is made and the best one is selected. After that, the
action is been taken and then the results are examined and reviewed (Moss, 2018).

4.2 APPROPRIATE STRATEGY FOR RESOLVING A PARTICULAR PROBLEM
Appraiser
The first step in the implementation of the strategy is the finding and identifying the
problem and the frame out the structure in order to draw the project in a successful
manner. Then the next step that comes in the picture is the fact-finding (Taylor,
2016).
Appraise
After the problems are identified and listed, each problem will be given a separate
definition. Then the next followed step is the finding of the idea in order to initiate the
project (Taylor, 2016).
Appraiser
The next step is the selection of the flowchart which is to be followed for attempting
the project. Then after that, the complete planning will help in the commencement of
the planning of the project (Taylor, 2016).
Appraise
Next up is selling the idea and then finally the project will mark its beginning by
having actions implemented at the right time and in the right position.
