INTRODUCTION
Securing employability after completion of academic studies requires creating several
professional documents necessary for applying to a job (Higgs, Letts and Crisp, 2019). This
report focuses on creation of employability portfolio and describes the significance of
employability portfolio. Current personal skill levels are identified in this report along with
selection of job role from the tourism industry. Mock application for specific job role is included
in this report by providing a cover letter and CV. In addition to this reflection on current skills
gaps is included in this report along with identification of future action to eliminate skills gap.
MAIN BODY
Importance of employability Portfolio
Employability Portfolio is defined as collection of sample of work and evidence of career
achievements in an organized manner to look attractive such as digital presentation, online copy
or binder. An employability portfolio is a highly important document because it presents
evidence of various skills and capabilities in an attractive manner to potential employers
(Munnelly, 2020). The main elements of an employability portfolio are career summary, short
biography, resume, marketable skills and abilities, professional accomplishments, samples of
work, awards and honours. Employability portfolio plays an important role in helping individuals
stand out from competitors during job search. This is completed by attracting the attention of
employers and providing them various documents which discuss relevant career achievements,
current skills, interests and background as an employee slalom with evidence of every
information provided in the portfolio (Boyle, 2020). Developing an employability portfolio is
important because it displays current progress in career. Organizing career history, work progress
and current skills making future goals and plans becomes easier. Individuals are able to utilize
employability portfolio to get ahead in recruitment and also plan future career action to attain
career aspirations in a timely manner.

needed for manning team of staff to attain specific objectives. The commercial awareness about
how different businesses in the tourism industry generate income along with the knowledge of
external factors affecting the profitability of tourism businesses and competitive landscape of the
tourism industry are an evidence of effective management skills as commercial awareness is
needed managing employees. Ability to organize activities, delegate asks and formulate future
plans though strategic thinking also depicts effective management skills. Effective tie
management is an essential organizational skill. This along with the ability to easily work under
pressure without degrading quality of work are evidence of organizing skills (Botha and Dykes,
2019). This is because organizing skills enable individual to handle tasks under pressure and
completest activities in given time. Another evidence of effective organizing skills is the ability
to complete various academic assignments in a timely manner. The evidence of high level skills
is the ability to clearly communicate information through verbal communication and produce
