Reflection
Employability and study skills are required to perform different task and responsibilities
effectively in personal and professional life and for growth in future career. It includes various
skills such as communication, research, team work and abilities to influences other or technical
skills are some of the employability skills that are required by each employer while recruiting
individual within firm. Leaders should have ability to influence other and high skills and
knowledge so other can inspire from it and motivated to work hard for overall success of firm.
As per my experiences when I was giving a presentation in have learned there are various skills
that are inbuilt in myself but some needs to be improved in order to grow and get success in life.
I have learned that I was not able to express my feeling and view with others due to lack of use
of body language and gestures (Kim, 2017). Therefore it state that my oral communication was
not effective but audience was able understand by though through my presentation. Thus, it state
that I have good command on written communication so other people have easily understand the
language and things that I want to convey them. Above experience also make me learn that I
have good research skills so that I was able to search relevant data and information related to
various topics. Such research skill can be used in career or for study and learn new things or to
get deep and accurate knowledge about something that can helps in future development. The
presentation also revealed that I was not effective in information and communication technology
that has lead to wastage lot of my time to understand to communicate or delivery information to
others (Kim, Kim and Kim, 2018). Thus, I have to increase by information and communication
skills to deliver appropriate and accurate information to large number of people within limited
time and cost. At the same time I get to know that I can easily work in team as I only take first
step and dividing work, roles and responsibilities among my friends so that there is no confusion
and conflict regarding task to be performed by each individual (Harrison, 2018). Therefore it
results in better coordination and understanding making presentation successful experiences. I
have also completed by work with full determination and responsibilities so that common goals
of our team to get first position can be accomplished. Such abilities and skills show that I have
capabilities to influence others and work in coordinate manner for achievement of common goals
and objectives. Presentation was completed on time so it state that self and time management
skills were present in myself that helps in accomplishment of task within limited time. But at the

same time I realise that I does not have ability to resolve conflict and take appropriate decision as
our two of our team members were fighting with each others on task to be performed by each of
them. Such has result in effective completion of task but due to my time management skills and
influence ability we able to coordinate with each other’s and achieve common objectives.
Various skills that I have learned through my past experiences while giving presentation can
be explained through Gibb’s reflective model. It is divided into six steps and in first steps of
Gibb’s reflection cycle it explains about past events that has happened in individual life such as
my past experiences of giving presentation has helped me in enhancing my knowledge and skills
to perform various task in both personal and professional life (Seo, 2016). The event has taught
be lot many employability and study skill that are already inbuilt in myself and some needs to be
improved so that I can easily grow and success in my professional life. Second stage of Gibb’s
reflection discuss about the feeling that individual has faced while experiences such events. I was
too excited and happy to give presentation in class as I have work hard for completing the
assignment but at the same time nervous as I have to communicate information to other by use of
information and communication technology. As I was not good at ICT skill so it provides me an
opportunity to improve such skills in order to give best presentation and be a winning team. I
was really tensed about completion of presentation on time as I like to complete task on time so I
manage myself and effectively influence other to work as team for desired goals. In the third
stage of Gibb’s reflective cycle describes about impact of such event whether it was successful
or failure. Therefore it can be stated that presentation was good and effective as I have good
research, written communication, time management and ability to influence other that helps in
completion of task in an effective manner. But some of the things that I needs to improve in
order to get more success and growth in future career such as problem solving and effective
decision making. I was also not good in oral communication and appropriate use of body
language and gestures which lead misunderstanding but written data and information clear
audience about my though and feeling that I want to convey them. I was not good in Information
and communication technology so it also waste lot of my effort and time to communicate
information effectively to other people (van Gejeka, Pakrastiņš and Ignatjeva, 2019). Therefore,
Gibb’s fourth stages of analysis stated me that I have to make improvement in certain and
specific areas to enhance my learning and skill that can be used for future growth and
development in career. It also illustrates that certain skills are already exist in myself such as

good written communication, research skills and abilities to influences such can be used in future
to perform specific task, roles and responsibilities effectively. At last Gibb’s model of reflection
state that individual prepares personality development plan in order to formulate strategies and
step to improve such skills and knowledge within limited time for future growth and success.
Therefore I have also prepares personal development plans to improves certain skills and
knowledge in which I lack in order to gain maximum opportunities in future career.
