INTRODUCTION
In present world, company focus to hire skilled and professional staff member that will
help to achieve the organisational goal. Employability skills can be defined as the qualities that
are required by individuals in order to get desired job profile (Employability skills, 2018). It is
very important for the persons to have some unique skills and knowledge so that employers may
get impress and select them for a specific job. Good communication, team work, problem
solving, planning, learning and self motivation are some skills that are required for the
individuals to get a desired job. Likewise, with the positive technical understanding and
knowledge that help to disclose the wide range of abilities and skills that are required by a
business expert from their hire employees. In this project report certain information about wide
range of own responsibilities and performance objective towards “Travel lodge” travel company.
In this project report, the everyday working needs of problem solving that help to involve
the determination of problem, strategies to resolve these problem and then evaluation of the
outcome of the solution through reflective practice are discussed. Report also shows the
understanding about the working that help to work with other staff member. And at last the
reports discuss the ways that help to develop the interpersonal and transferable skills that help to
manage various tasks within company.
TASK 1
1.1 Set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
Human resource manager is an important part for company and managers are obliged to
manage the employees and staff of organisation effectively and efficiently. As the human
resource of company is obliged to find out their own responsibilities in company and set
performance standard in order to achieve them. Own responsibilities of my as a HR manager are
discussed below:
Remuneration:
This is most important and crucial duty for the mine is to determine and provide
remuneration to the employees according to their capacity and capabilities. It is very important
for manager to give them incentives and other benefits to the employees who give the better
performance. It is important to develop faithful relationship among employees in order to attain
future goals.

Training and development:
This is also a duty of my as a HR manager of company so that employees can do their job
effectively and efficiently. Training needs to be provided by the human resource manager of
Travelogue to their new employees so that they will be able to perform given task.
Performance Objectives:
Maintaining healthy relationship among employees:
I as a human resource manager of company should concentrate on maintaining healthy
relationship among the employees of Travelogue. As better coordination among the employees
will leads to achievement of overall objective of organisation. As to develop healthy relationship
among employee’s with me, I should organise some social and get together events for
employees. Manager makes sure that each employee of company will work accordingly to the
provided training so that healthy relationship is maintained among all of them. As I had the main
role to run in effective manner and guide each employees for the betterment of business
operation.
Time management:
The time management is very important for every organisation and their employees in
order to accomplish goals. As I needs to take look over the employees to perform their work
within given time limit. This is the main role of mine as a manager to as they have to ensure that
time must be utilised in proper manner that will increase the efficiency and productiveness of
other employees working on a project. Therefore I am able to manage time so that other activity
are operated well and time can be used in training and development.
1.2 Analysis of Own effectiveness against defined objectives
There are some responsibilities and duty of human resource manager of company which
needs to be taken care at the time of running business. It is very important for manager to
perform their duties effectively in order to smooth functioning of business operations. The
effectiveness of human resource manager affects the functioning of employees and organisation
is discussed below:
Determination of policies and strategies of Human Resource:
The human resource manager of company formulates strategies and policies which need
to be followed by the employees. So the HR should be very effective while formulating plan and
policies. Staff and employees of Travelogue needs to follow these guideline while working.

Communication:
Communication is a basic but crucial skill which needs to be possessed by HR manager
for communicating effectively across the company. This helps in increasing performance of
company by improving operations. The Travelogue can attain effectiveness by communicating
their roles and duties with each other.
Employment legislation:
There are various employment legislation which are governed by the government and
needs to followed by employees of company. As the HR manager of company I am obliged to
ensure that legislation related to the employment is being followed or not.
Ethics:
Ethics refers to deciding upon what is right and wrong in organisation as HR manager of
company should ensure ethical practices by employees in organisation.
Adequate administration at office premises:
This is very important for manager of Travelogue to manage operations at workplace
with effectively and efficiently. Employees should feel safe while working at office premises. It
is the duty of company to provide safe working environment to employees.
Appraisal System:
The individual needs to make proper use of appraisal tool in order to accomplish
maximum objectives within given time period. As employees of Travelogue should evaluate
their own capacity and ability in better manner and this will be more effectively helpful for them
to make proper use of those skills. As HR can use the appraisal system also like bonus payment
to employees and promotion to the hard working employees of company.
Good skills:
Communication: I am able to effectively communicate with other team member in my
company so that help me to know vision and prospects of other employees. This also help me to
transfer useful management message to worker and vice versa so that conflicts situation could be
completely avoided.
Time management: It is one of the most important skill of mine as I am able to manage
time and complete assigned work. With this method I am to effectively increased the
productiveness of company operations and improve performance of employees.

Problem solving: Certain time there are tough situation arises within company that
hamper me and I don't have the skills to deal with it. I am lacking to resolve problem that make
me frustrated and I also not able to perform my work with efficiency.
Decision Making: I also lack the skill of making decision, as an HR manager of
company I have to make different decision regarding polices and process. Thus many time I am
not able to give any decision individually and think that I need some help that is reducing mine
mental capabilities.

1.3 Suggestion for improvement
From the above mention method I am able to improve the skills set and increase their
effectively to handle tough situation within a workplace. As a HR manager of Travelogue is I
lack the skill of problem solving and decision making so thus management tries to provide
seminars and concern that help me to overcome above mention issues. In order to increase
crucial skills I focuses on different process that are discussed below:
Providing of training and development:
Training and development is an important tool for nurturing the skills and capabilities of
mine so that I am able to perform job effectively. Board of director of Travelogue provide
training me in order to maintain effective performance and take valuable decision so that
operation can be run smoothly.
Motivational techniques:
This is the primary duty of human resource manager of Travelogue to execute different
moral boosting techniques to enhance enthusiasm of Mine. As it will be helpful for Me to
perform task on time and resolve problems that could hinder performance.
1.4 Motivational techniques to enhance quality of performance
Motivation refers to the effort which drives, desired and the energy of person which used
to activate and attain goal driven behaviours. It is an important tool for boosting morale of
employees so that they can perform their task effectively. Travelogue needs to apply some
motivational technique in their organisation in order to motivate their employees. This is very
important tool which assist organisation to improve the quality of performance of employees and
get goals achieved on time also. The tool used by every organisation according to their size and
nature of working. These are tools which are discussed below:

Creation of positive work environment:
This is a non-financial motivational tool which can be used by the Travelogue. It is
essential for employees in influencing better results for company. Employees should be given
freedom for sharing their ideas and thoughts.
Provide incentives:
Incentives are the monetary motivation which helps companies to boost their morale.
Travelogue should provide the incentives to employees who are contributing maximum to the
profit of company.
Recognise achievement:As company can give some printed certificates or trophy to the
employee so that they feel motivated and give their best in future also. Travelogue can also give
recognise team accomplishment with individual efforts. There is some self motivational factors
also such as positive thinking, self confidence and self efficiency which can help employees to
motivate.
X/Y theory:
This theory is related to human work motivation and management. In this X theory
described that significant of marked supervision, exterior complements and penalties. On the
other side theory Y determine the motivating role of job satisfaction and encourages employees
to perform different task without direct supervision.
Disadvantage of both theory:
Under X theory:
Little opportunities for personal growth and development.
Under theory manager are not able to perform their responsibility.
Under Y theory:
The main disadvantage is that Jobs are not performed faster.
It is consider to be time consuming.
Maslow's Hierarchy Theory : This theory has given by Abhraham Maslow and it
emphasis to the essential needs of a person. Manager of Tesco can use this theory to encourage
its workers so that they can perform better. There are different stages of this theory that are Self
actualization, Esteem needs, Social needs, Safety needs, Physiological needs.

It is observed that theory may not give the best result in real life.
Basically the theory is based on a small sample of subjects.

TASK 2
P2.1 Solution to the problem related to Work.
In an organisation there are various problems can be arises which can hamper the efficiency and
productivity. There are various problems which are identified such as:
Communication : Employees in the organisation does not have proper information
because leader does not provide relevant informations which are essential to complete the task
effectively. As a result productivity of Travel lodge can be affected.
Coordination: Another problem is lack of coordination between different persons of
distinct departments such as: purchase, sales, marketing etc. As a result task can not be
performed effectively in the organisation.
Lack and training : There is another problem is lack of training as a result employees
are not able to perform as per the requirements of Travel lodge. So efficiency and productivity
has been affected.
Solutions to resolve problem
To enhance the communication among the different departments company can set a
formal communication channel in which mention the flow of information. So that all
persons get the required and sufficient information.
To enhance the coordination there is team building activities can be organised so that
strong relations can be establish which can make healthy coordination and objectives can
be accomplish.
To enhance the skills and knowledge of employees Travel lodge can conduct the training
and development session so that required skills can be developed and efficiency can be
improve.
Problem solving: In Hotel there are number of problem that may reduce the number of
visitor during a time period. Recently in travel lodge, there is a major issue that need to be

resolved as soon as possible. There is an ongoing issue in travel lodge that is related to lack of
skilled personal and other staff member. And another issue is large communication gap between
the staff person of Travel lodge. So to overcome this problem, management follow some basic
steps that are discussed below:
Problem Analysis: For better functioning company first of all focus to determine all
possible problem that may arise in future and reduce the performance of company. This
issue is basically related to company politics, communication gap, lack of skilled staff
etc. So HR manager of Travel lodge analyse the two basic problem and focuses to resolve
them as soon as possible. They need to build values, norms; beliefs etc. adhere by all
employees.
Researching changes: This mostly effect the decision making ability of organisation
thereby utilize for the overall performance. The main reason of problem is because of
different culture and backgrounds of diffident employees that may develop variation in
their thinking.
Getting best solution: In this manager generate the multiple solutions and select the best
that help to overcome problem. HR manager has applied six strategy to resolve the issue. This
strategy is coined by Edward De Bono's and discussed below:
The first step is “white hate rule” related to interpretation of data that need to develop
valuable outcome. In this HR manager use to focus on existing information and analyse
the historical trends to give best decision.
“Red hate” rule state that manager needs to observe the issue and make sure how
employee will react to these situation. They also need to ensure that every employee must
understand their viewpoint.
Black hat is one of the most effective hat that is used to analyse the problem and
determine where the individual are causing problems and find the best solution of them.
Red hat implies and discuss the intuition and felling. This help worker of company in
sharing their likes, fear hates etc.
Green hat is used to develop creativity of employees. This point involves the possibility
of creating innovative ideas and introducing the new concept for betterment of company.
In last yellow hat intend brightness and optimism that is further helpful to provide the
benefit and value for travel lodge (Durrani and Tariq, 2012).

information form manager to employees and vice versa.
Effective communication: It is basically divided in two parts that are discussed below:
Verbal: In this mode the useful information is shared with other staff member by face to
face communication. It is consider being fast and easy of transferring important message.
Non-verbal: This method is most reliable source of communication that is done through
unspoken words. Use of different symbols and body language is important part that used
to provide posture of employees.
Formal: In this process the information flow in both directions vertically and
horizontally. So formal feedback assist travel lodge to overcome different issues that may reduce
the performance of employees.
Informal: It is described as unsanctioned informal exchange of useful data between
workers and always flows in right path. So this must be avoided by the manager of Travel lodge.
Interpersonal skills: In general there are different kinds of skills that are carried by
worker in Travel lodge. These are mentioned below:
Working with other: It is consider being effective method that is taken into account for
delivering particular result for company so that employees work in team in order to attain
the goals and resolve problem.
Negotiating skills: This skill set is used to develop and maintain positive relationship
among the different staff member. This issue may be of any kind such as problem with
salary, bonus and working hours.

There have been two ongoing problems in Hotel that is related to lack of skilled labour
