Employability Module: Analyzing Skills and Self-Development Essay

Employability

Employability is a set of achievement which covers skills, understanding, personal
attributes etc (Witte and Cuyper, 2015). It can be defined as doing the work related to value
creating, getting paid for the work which is done, learning from the work and also intensify the
ability in the future by shaping the work. Employability skill is a group of abilities which
involves for the development of knowledge, expertise etc (Devambatla and Nalla, 2015). The
present essay is based on the module of Employability module. The aim of the report is to reflect
on the ways in which module has assisted in self-development. Furthermore, analyzing the
knowledge and skills which is acquired from the cited modules. Moreover, in this essay the
participation of the mentioned module to improve the skills are discussed.
Analyzing the knowledge and skills that is acquired from the mentioned module.
Being a practitioner in a care center, the work is to focus on the knowing in my practices.
All the work which I did in past and all the projects which is undertaken by me related to the
emergency case, handling of case etc. As a practitioner, there is need of employability module in
order to prepare myself for the future cases.
This module help in acquiring the knowledge and skills as to handle the cases and also
helps in identifying my personal strength and weaknesses related to my work. Nothing in more
important than how we feel and think about ourselves (Bozionelos and et.al., 2015). By
employability model it helps me to feel and think about myself. As, it helped me to increase
many skills as this increase the self confidence. Earlier, I don't have confidence while interacting
with the clients, colleague and with friend, but from learning this model, it helps in boosting the
confidence. My inner faith and internal faith boost to me to study the model as by studying this it
helps in developing the state of self confidence related to my work, in me. It also brings
confidence in communicating with the other, as my verbal communication improved a lot, now I
do not feel shy while communicating with the clients. By communicating with othe practitioner r
I improved my skill to understand their problems in a better ways and also helps in expressing
my feeling with others. With the improvement in skill I always bring on the positivity and stay
away from the negative thinking
But the skill which I don't acquired that much is the stress management and time
management. Now also, I failed to assemble the deadlines more efficiently and failed to
accomplish the given task within the desired time period. Now also, I can't complete the work on

time, due to this I bring stress in the management. With this lack in time management, it brings
stress in the work (Dickinson and Griffiths, 2015). However, this module he practitioner lps in
acquiring the self management skill like it develop the skill for breathing and relaxation in my
practitioner. It also helps in learning positive things in my works as well as it develop self
motivation skill while facing an emergency case, or any other case.
Unlike, this skill, I did not acquire decision making skill that much, as now also I feel
lack in making decisions related to my work. I found problem in making effective decision, as
my evaluation decision making is not that much good and selection of alternative is not great as
well as not effective. Facing problem in analyzing and exploring the options to make a sound
decision for my work. Moreover, now I can easily interpret both verbal message from the client,
but facing problem in non practitioner verbal messages. Through non verbal messages, I found
difficult to interact with the clients, if the client is unable to speak then I can't identify what
he/she is saying. Therefore, employability module helps in acquiring or in understanding the
knowledge and skills in which I was lacking and some of these skills are still lacking in me.
Discussing how my participation to the module enhanced and improved my skills and sharpened
my intellect
The employability module was very helpful for me as it helped me in amending my skills
and competencies in which I was lacking. The employability module is the main reason for my
improved performance at my workplace. Therefore, my work is now appreciated by my co
workers, superiors and also my patients. This further inculcated a sense of pride for my own
work and develop high self esteem in me. Thereafter, it has helped me in identifying my hidden
talent which I can now use in my work life to ensure my career growth and success. It has
broadened new horizons for me and encourage me to strive to give my best performance at my
workplace. By attaining the employability skills and adhering the module strictly I am able to
meet the industry benchmark up to large extent. Therefore, employability skills is effective
approach that help me in bridging the gap between my present skills and those required as per
standards of health care sector. Further, I am able to focus on my strength and weakness after
emphasizing of n employability module. Hence, by acquiring knowledge and skills from this
module I can perform my work in the best way. Now I addition to this, mistakes and inefficiency
on my part has been reduced to large extent as I use my best skills and practices to do my work.

Therefore, I can foresee that in coming time it will help me in taking higher job roles within
health care sector. I can witness my overall development as a outcome of employability module.
Therefore, it has prepared me for the new opportunities that can be attained by me so as to
become a successful health care practitioner. By improving my skills through employability
module I have developed a. overall positive attitude towards my work and my workplace. My
first preference is now work as I admire what I do. Further, the modified skills not only help me
in my personal development but they also assist me in contributing to the success of my
workplace. The attained skills are helping me in rendering services to my patients therefore my
productivity has improved. This is further helping care center in building its reputation as it can
claim it have best service providers. Overall, it can be claimed by me that employability module
had a affirmative impact on my performance. This can be proved from the elaborated
explanation regarding my gained skills provided below:
With the help of employability module, I am able to focus on four domains of emotional
intelligence; self awareness, self management, social awareness and relationship management
etc. I was able to identify which skills are important for me, why and how they can be further
attained. The module also educated me how to apply the gained knowledge in given situation.
Earlier, I was having knowledge about the skills inherent in me but employability module help
me in its practical application. I now use my skills as my strength that help me in overcoming
tough work life situations. Further, employability module has raised my self confidence level. I
am able to take up work challenges and ensure I put my best efforts. I now give presentations in
medical campaigns and try to spread awareness about different diseases, their symptoms and
possible treatments. In addition to this, I feel confident in asking various questions to my
superiors in team meetings so as to clear my doubts. I can raise voice against anything I find
which is wrong happening in Care Center such as, mental patients are not treated respectably and
made fun off by some nurses. Therefore, I made complaint regrading this issue to management
which was taken seriously by them and strict actions were taken against accountable nurses. This
is further possible through my increased self confidence level that I was able to raise objection.
In addition to this aspect, I also try to build the confidence of my patients and assure them that
everything will be alright.

As stated before, earlier I use to face problem in communicating with others. However,
now with the help of employability module I have improved my verbal communication which
help me in transmitting my ideas, knowledge, thoughts etc to others. With the help of my
effective communication skills now I am able influence others by speaking clearly and directly.
It also help me in giving directions to my juniors like, nurse, attendants etc. I can properly
explain them their roles and duties. Along with this, I can effectively communicate with my
patients and give them medical instructions. By interacting properly with them, I am able to
understand their problem in more proper way. Other than this, I communicate properly with the
relatives and friends of patients and give them details about the conditions of patients. In
addition to this, I able to provide morale support to close ones of patient by using my
communication skills. Since, I have strong verbal communication skills I am asked by my
superiors to give presentation, take part in seminars and give speeches in corporate gatherings.
Therefore, my recognition level is also improving with my enhanced skill. Apart from this,
employability module has helped me in realizing the importance of communication in my career.
Therefore, now I am keen to gain knowledge about different methods of communication that can
be used by me. For instance, I give advice to my patients over phone or using video
conferencing. In addition to this, I have improved my listening skills so I hear the problem of
my juniors, patients first before communicating. I can also persuade effectively to patients of
different age such as I use my communication skills to persuade kids to take bitter medicine or
injections which they usually resist.
The employability module was also advantageous for me in amending my inter personal
skills. I can relate in better way using my communication skills. Being a health care practitioner I
have to deal with patients having problems like depression, those suffering with venereal
diseases etc. Due to my improved interpersonal skills I treat my patients with more care and
convince them to share their health care issues without hesitations so that I can provide them
right medical aid. I can make my patients comfortable in Care center by exercising my
interpersonal skills. In addition to this, interpersonal skills help me in being sensitive to the fears
and personal sentiments of my patients.
Furthermore, employability module is helped me a lot in identifying my loopholes and
focus on my lacking skills. Therefore, I was able to identify that I need to improve my self

management skills. The self management skills helped me in learning positive self affirming
beliefs. Therefore, I am able to stay calm and composed in tough situations as well. Such as, due
to excess workload I had to work on weekends which I took positively. Further, I have improved
self motivation under my self management skills. Therefore, I am encouraged to learn more
skills and develop my own vision and objective in my career. These skills also assist me in
analyzing my own work critically and take responsibility of my acts. Therefore, self management
skills benefited me as I am now competent to take credit of my good work. However, I also take
responsibility of mistakes done by my part such as, I could not check my schedule and attend a
important meeting. Further, self management skills not only taught me to take responsibility but
also ensure that I don't repeat the same mistake in the future. This further reduce the chances of
conflicts that may arise at my workplace. Therefore, I have developed positive attitude with the
help of my self management skills.
The employability module assisted me in improving my team working skills which play a
crucial role in my profession. The team working skills help me in coordinating and cooperating
with other professionals in health care sector. Employability module helped me in applying team
working skills to crisis situations. Such as, there was bus accident case where there more than 50
individuals were injured and refereed to Care Center. With the help of my improved team
working skills I was able to handle the situation patiently without chaos. I also encouraged my
co- workers to work collaboratively. I was also able to give best performance not only as
member of team but also as a individual. Team working skills help me in working easily with
different individuals with varied age, gender, attitude etc. other than this, I have improved my
self learning skills which enable me to set and determine my learning priorities, mode of learning
etc. therefore, I build my knowledge by reading books, journals, vast information available on
internet etc. With the help of on going learning I can render my best performance by applying
gained knowledge at the workplace.
Evaluating the Key aspects that impacted on my development.
With the help of the employabilty module, I can easily acquire the knowledge and skills
as well as it bring development in me. There are the3 key aspects taken by the module to
improve the status and bring development are :

The mentioned module provide theoretical learning to me, it helps me a lot in my
development. They provide learning by linking with the previous and potential practical
experience. Whatever I did in the past, all my practical experience were explained by this
module in theory. All the mistake which I did, what all knowledge I earned and the
improvement, all were explained to me by this module. What was good and bad about the
experience, all this learning was provided in theoretical by this module. The another aspect was
they provide frameworks on theoretical for critical reflective practices.
The another key aspect which is used to develop the skills and knowledge is the
experimental learning techniques. It is a process in which module helps me to learn through
experience. This technique helps me to aware about the learning styles and their importance. By
analyzing the styles, I identify my learning styles, which helps me to learn and now I start
acquiring my knowledge and skills according to this learning styles. It helps me to understand
the knowledge and skills which is needed at the time of emploability. This technique helps in
promoting the self reaction related to the work, motive me to learn more about the nature,
purpose and essence of my work.
The other aspect was to understand the skills and knowledge anout what all abilities
which are required to me while working in care center, that all abilities are understood by me
through this employability module. The all skills which are required are self confidence, verbal
communication, inter personnel skill, time management, decision making skill and many more.
This all skills are needed by me, as I am working as a practitioner in care center. Therefore, this
module help me to understand the need of these all module which are to be develop to improve
the employability skills. Now, I can easily interact with the clients and interpret the messages
from them. This module aspect is to focus on the skill set, which is identified by them, in order to
graduate or increase the employability. The employability focus on the key skills like oral
communication with the clients, friend etc. team work with the colleagues and also to make
decision to solve the problems related to the work.
Developing self confidence as effective practitioner, it develops the skill of self
confidence, and boost the confidence in me. There is much need of confidence to me, lack of
confidence bring negative things in me and which affect the work. Now, I am very confident

related to my work, have positive thoughts regarding any work, friends, clients. I am confident to
face any emergency case, or any patient.
Therefore, these aspects helps me in increasing the complex work practices, also assist to
interact with the customers, bring positive thinking related to my work or at the time of making
decisions. It also improved my skill to work in a team with my colleagues.
Evaluating the actions that have implemented to improve the employability skills.
Working as a practitioner, employability module helps a lot in acquiring the knowledge
and skills. There are different actions which is taken by me to improve the employability skills
are the classes, coaching, workshops and training:
Classes- It is absolutely vital for me to attend the classes, I didn't miss the classes, it helps
me a lot, in learning the skills or to understand the practical aspect in theoretical. It brings
positive affect in the performance (Jackson, 2015). The other activities in which, I am lacking are
the stress management and to improve this the actions which is taken are the seminars, classes
etc.
Coaching- To improve the technical skill, coaching is necessary. It guides me in making
the decision for the care center more effective and also helps me in improving the non verbal
communication. So that, I do not found any problem while communicating with clients.
Training- The action which is taken by me to improve the employability skills is the
training, as it helps me a lot. By taking the training, now I can effectively manage the activities
in a limited time frame. It also helps me to aware about the social awareness.
From the essay it can be concluded that reflection is an important part of the development
process of a practitioner. The essay focuses on the employability module and the reflection of the
development. This essay explained the importance of the mentioned module as it helps me in
acquiring the knowledge and skill which is to be required by me at the time of working in a care
center as a practitioner. Furthermore, it brings self confidence, improve the verbal
communication which is required to me while interacting with the clients and it also helps me to
handle the situation of emergency cases, or other cases in a better way. Moreover, it is important
to sharpens my intellect. The impact of aspects which is determined for the development is
concluded in this report.
