1.2 Evaluate own effectiveness against defined objectives.
Evaluating the performance of employees is very necessary for the organization because the
organization works on the basis of objectives and the objectives are needed to be covered in
order to earn profit for the organization. The effectiveness of employee is very essential to be
evaluated because this provides the idea to the organization the efficiency of the employee and
the amount of workload the employee could bear for the organization (Jones, 2013).
The organization not only trains the new recruits but also training and development programs are
arranged for all the employees who were not able to perform up to the mark and the train them to
improve their effectiveness. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the employee performance is
very much essential for the organization so that the organization could change the role of that
employee who is not efficiently performing in that role and train that person so that he could do
better for the organization (Jackson, 2014).
There are various factors which are considered while declaring the effectiveness of any particular
employee. The speaking and listening skills of the employee in the job sector of travel and
tourism and also being in the service industry needs good speaking and listening skills. The hotel
Bromley Central Travelodge has always given priority to the employees who are good listeners
and speakers and the employees have good problem solving as well as the employees should be
very efficient in time managing and self- management is also a very important criterion for the
evaluation of the effectiveness.
The effectiveness of the employees is needed to be evaluated so that the organization could
improve the performance and the also be able to fill the gaps which are needed to be filled
between the actual and required performance of the organization (Imam, et. al., 2013).

1.3 Make recommendations for improvement.
There are many steps and measures that could be implemented for the betterment of the
employee as well as the organization. For improving the employee performance and the
performance of the organization it is very essential for the organization to implement measures
and techniques for better results, some of the recommendations that could be used by the
organizations are:
Adaptation: The ability of the employee to adapt to any working condition is the
adaptability of that employee and in the service sector it's very essential for the employee
to be adaptive in nature. The environment of the workplace can frequently change as per
the requirement of the organization and the employees are needed to be adaptive in order
to cope in such environment and the organization could earn a profit (Nickson, et. al.,
2012).
Focusing on individual growth: The travel and tourism sector needs to focus individually
on each and every employee so that the organization could improve the effectiveness of
the individual and the person’s individual growth is also essential for the organization
and the employee too (Ito, et. al., 2015).
Performance monitoring: The organizations need to monitor the performance of the
employees so that the organization could have the idea of the performance of the
employees and could develop the strategies to overcome the problems which could arise
in the future. The monitoring of the performance would give the chance to the employees
as well as the organization to improve the effectiveness.
Teamwork: Teamwork is one of the biggest issues that is needed to be resolved in an
organization. Employees in an organization are needed to stick together work with each
other and help each other for the proper functioning of the organization and improving
the effectiveness of the organization and the employees (Rasul, et. al., 2012).

1.4 Review how motivational techniques can be used to improve the quality of the
performance.
The organization in order to enhance the performance needs to motivate their employees so that
the employees could work efficiently and could provide a productive outcome to the
organization in terms of profit. The organization could use techniques to appraise the work of the
employees whether by providing them with incentives or giving them the appraisals for the work
in the form of promotions.
The organization needs to motivate the employees in order to make them work efficiently, there
is a moment in every organization when the employees are not able to provide that much
outcome to the organization and in those situations the organization is needed to implement
techniques to motivate the employees in order to work effectively and efficiently for the
organization and portrait the results in the form of profits (Robel, et. al., 2012).
Motivating the employees encourages them and enhances their performances with different types
of benefits provided to them. There are two types of benefits which are provided to the
employees one is monetary and the other one is non-monetary benefits. The organization
provides monetary benefits could motivate them and satisfy the workers and enhances their
work. The non-monetary benefits which are provided to the workers or the employees would
always provide them satisfaction which would help in motivating the employees and earn a profit
(Collet, et. al., 2015).
The motivating of the employees would provide the organization a competitive advantage as the
motivation enhances the performance of the employees which helps in the improvement of the
results of the organization. These are the techniques which could be used to motivate any
employee of our organization (Imam, et. al., 2013).

TASK 2
2.1 Develop solutions to work-based problems.
There are various problems that arise in an organization. The issues which have been addressed
by different organizations is that employees face problems related to listening, communication
problems, low problem-solving abilities, self-management, team management, time
management, etc. which are needed to be solved by the organizations(Durrani, et. al., 2012).
The managers at every level are needed to perform training and development programs for the
employees who are not able to perform up to the mark. The organizations are needed to
implement programs for the employees in order to solve these issues and implement strategies to
overcome these problems for the future.
The employees face problems during the video presentation of any business talks and that is why
the organization is needed to develop a program for the development of the employees so that
they could speak in front of a crowd in a fluent manner and also develop the skills for presenting
anything in front of someone skillfully.
The techniques that should be used in order to solve these issues are:
The human resources management of the organization has planned training and
development programs for all the employees and the new recruits for the organization.
This is done in order to improve and enhance the performance of the employees and
help them in reaching the desired goals for the organization (Sung, et. al., 2013).

2.2 Communicate in a variety of styles and appropriate manner at various
levels.
The managers and the leaders implement different ways for the employees so that they could
communicate with everyone efficiently. In the organization, Bromley Central Travelodge the
hotel manager is subjected to implementing different plans and techniques in order to improve
the skills of the employees. The communication is one of the most important factors while
working for any organization and thus the improvement of the speaking and listening skills, the
presentation skills and the motivation is very much needed for an employee and these techniques
are chosen by the organization for the betterment of the organization as well as the employees
(Deeley, 2014).
The speaking skills can be improved with the help of telephonic conversations. The managers

2.3 Identify effective time-management strategies.
Every organization always tries their level best in order to finish the projects on time. The
managers and the HRM department of the organization follow the time management strategy in
order to finish the project on time and earn profitable amounts for the organization. The time
management strategy involves the listing of the things that are needed to be done, the project
essentials and achievements and the project resultant (Omar, et. al., 2012).
The managers are assigned with the duties of completing the project and the managers meet with
the team members and leader in order to understand the needs of the project and the leaders try to
explain the project essentials and the whole team with the help of the manager and the leader
identify the goal and then after analyzing the goals the employees work together in order to
finish the project and achieve the required results (Jones, 2013).
The time management strategies are thus implemented in order to finish the given project on
time and in the hotel service industry it’s very essential for the managers to implement the plans
to finish the targets on time and the employee performance is observed on the particular project
and the team is again ready to work on another project.
The Bromley Central Travelodge is an example of such efficient time management strategies
where the hotel manager implements new plans and techniques to finish the given projects on
time and also assigns duty to the employees to perform the duties on time and the team is needed
to finish the projects on time. After the project is finished the teams evaluate sheets of the
employees that who did his part in a better way and the member who needs to develop the skills
of working. The hotel and the travel and tourism sectors are the busiest sectors during the festive
seasons and that is the time when time management strategies are implemented in order to finish
the projects on time and provide excellent experiences to the customers (Collet, et. al., 2015).

TASK 3
3.1 Explain the roles people play in a team and how they can work together to achieve
shared goals.
There are various roles that are provided to the employees in an organization to achieve the
goals. The employees need to work together in order to achieve their goals perfectly.
The action-based roles: The organization provides duties to the managers and the team leaders
and then they divide the roles among the employees so that the goals could be achieved easily.
The initial stage of every project is to analyze the project and its goals and then the format is
drawn down in order to achieve the goals. This is the first step where the employees divide the
roles in order to complete the project on time and do it efficiently (Deeley, 2014)
The next step is to implement the plans which have been derived and for this, a particular person
is assigned with the duty to do so. This is a step where the ideas are given practical shapes so that
the project goals could be achieved easily. But the possibilities which are achieved are driven
down into practical form very slow, this is the demerit of this step.
Whenever roles are divided the last step is provided to the person who can efficiently finish the
project. The person is subjected to correct all the incorrect and inaccurate issues and then present
the final project.
There are also roles that are needed to be played accurately by the different position holders.
This is a people-oriented part of the project completion. The first role is provided to a person
who is mature and can handle a high amount of pressure and load of the work. The person who
plays such an important role in an organization and coordinates the whole process of the project
is a very tough task that is needed to be done accurately.
The role of information and resource gathering is provided to the employee who is highly
enthusiastic can actively gather the resources and the information for the completion of the
project (Imam, et. al., 2013).
