1.1 Develop a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives for your new role
National Trust is an organisation which focuses on saving the heritage and as well as greenery of
a country. Geographical areas are preserved by them. This helps in increasing their productivity
in order to save the greenery in the world. Some of the responsibilities as a manger that I need to
perform are discussed below:
The foremost responsibility of being a manager is to handle and look for all the activities
that are related to the visitors coming to the national trust to enjoy and explore it.
As a visitor manager, I need to be very specific for every visitor, so that they can get most
out of their visit.
Managing the visitors and increasing their interest will help in making the visitors come
back, this will eventually help in increasing the revenue.
Motivating every employee rather is a volunteer to team leader is also an essential
responsibility of the manager only.
Feedbacks from the visitors are taken by the manager, this will help in making the
national trust more up to the mark for the visitors.
Manager also focuses on achieving the goal by implementing various techniques and
methods for it.
As the name suggest, visitor manager needs to be highly responsible for the visitor
interaction with the organisation, this will help in increasing the awareness and as well as
the revenue for the whole organisation. Increased revenue can help in maintaining and
restoring the greenery at a major level (Nisha & Rajasekaran, 2018).

1.2 Evaluate own effectiveness against these defined objectives
It is very essential for the manager to know about their own effectiveness and perform self-
assessment to know that where they are going wrong and what all can be done to help them
achieve the set goal. Keeping a track of all the responsibilities can be of very great help. Training
sessions can be done, where every employee can take party for their self assessment. Training
will help the employees to know the goal about the organisation and what the organisation wants
from them. Communication is one of the important aspects needed by the organisation as it will
help in entertaining visitors from different culture. National trust organisation objectives includes
increasing the revenue for the organisation and maintaining and saving the heritage sites and as
well as the greenery in the country. Greeting visitors so that they should come back and also
increasing the awareness about the importance of the heritage is done. So greeting is one of the
major role performed by the visitor manger. With the help of this, visitors are made feel
important. Effectiveness and self-assessment for a visitor manager is determined by looking
upon the knowledge they have about the prestigious sites. Setting a goal or maintaining an
objective is essential for the organisation and making every employee know to those objectives.
This will help in aligning an individual objective with the organisation objective. Importance of
the national trust is made to understand to the very employee and to the visitors. Visitor manager
and the team work are to focus on this (Chan, et.al., 2018).

1.3 Make recommendations for self-improvement
Every organisation needs self-improvement. Other than the organisation, every employee needs
to work on themselves and know about the importance of the self-improvement. This helps the
employees to know about their place and position in the organisation. Having an in-depth
knowledge about the heritage and the artefacts are very much needed by the organisation. For the
self-improvement, employee can visit the place first personally, before telling other visitors
about it. This will help in knowing about the information which cannot be learned by asking
information from others. Meetings can be held at regular intervals, to know about any of the
issues faced by them. Also, this will help them in giving a path and making them look at the
bigger picture. This will help in resolving any issue and maintain the work. Having different
activities and games can help the person or motivate the employer to perform better. Self-
improvement can be done by implementing some exercises in the daily routine of an individual.
This will help them to work with more satisfaction and refreshing mind (Kowalski, 2018).

performance and that of your staff
Motivating is one of the skills required by every employee, so that they can motivate others and
makes them perform better. For the motivation, interaction should be thing first thing to achieve
between the employees. This is very much needed for the betterment of the industry and the
organisation. Motivation can help to boost the employee abilities and then they can perform up to
their ability and work hard for it. Motivation can be in the form of rewards or can be done
verbally. Rewards can be in the form of incentives or awards which can be timely distributed to
motivate the employee so that they can give their best to the organisation. Along with this,
appreciation which is a verbal for motivation can be helpful this is done when the seniors in an
organisation appreciate employees. Motivation can also be done by managing a positive
environment in the organisation. This will help make the employees feel safe and give a sense of
freedom which can be very necessary for the organisation (Francioli, 2018).

accordingly. Along with this learning methods will be discussed which can be of very much help
for the system and the management.

From the scenario given, it can be judges that employees are not working properly and are being
de-motivated. Mostly the reason for being de-motivated is the misunderstanding and
miscommunication at a very huge level. Along with this comparison of teams witch each other is
also seen as a wrong influence on the working of the team and the employees. Some techniques
for the clarification of the misunderstanding and miscommunication will be seen in the report
(Maduka, 2018).
Document Page
2.1 Develop solutions to work-based problems.
The work based problem from the given scenario can be understood as mostly the
miscommunication and misunderstanding between the employees of the team and between the
teams as well. Due to this the work is being hampered and no one is dictating and entertaining
visitors clearly. The first duty is of the visitor manager who has to work according to it and
divide work equally between the employees. This is done so that there is no misunderstanding of
an employee’s job and comparison with each other. As because of this everyone will have their
own job or role to perform.
Also, the visitor manager should be trained properly before actually hitting the floor. As they are
known to be the first face with which the customer actually talks to. They are responsible for
creating the first experience for their visiting customers.

Handling work pressure-
This is one of the most
important skills which is
needed to be developed
among the staff in order to
achieve the targets on the
designated time. This skill
can be developed among the
employees by creating
situations which are complex
and challenging. This would
enable them in transforming
into an individual which
would make him/her capable
of handling the team single
handedly. This would even
teach the employees to cope
with the different members
which at times might lead to
some diversified and
unexpected situation. This
can be achieved by creating
situations where the team
members with different
attitudes and ways of
handling the situation should
be put together in the same
team. With the help of this,
they would automatically
with time learn to adjust in
such kind of scenario. It may
happen that in the initial stage
there might be some kind of
differences but that would
eventually resolve with the
time.

3.1- Explain the roles people play in a team and how they can work together to achieve
shared goals.
Role of people and their contribution in achieving the goals can be understand by Belbin’s team
theory. It simply helps in determining the behaviour of an individual in a team. It completely
assesses the employees. It can also be termed as 360 degree assessment where the employee is
evaluated in each and every area. According to Belbin team role is entirely different from the
types of personality. It suggests that an individual might exhibit different tendencies which
suggest multiple roles of the individual.
Belbin carried out an extended observation for a period of about 10 years. It let him examine the
areas which are majorly responsible for the failure or success of a team. According to Belbin
team role each and every team are required to access the nine roles which are required to be
performed. But this does not mean that it requires the involvement of 9 different individuals. It
can be handled by less than 9 individuals. As one person might have more than one quality
which is required to be fulfilled for a team play. Each team role is significantly important to
carry out the complete procedure to run an organisation. However, it is not important that all the
nine roles are every time required to achieve the certain objective. It completely depends on the
type of task which is required to be fulfilled.
Beblin team role helps in deeper examination of the strengths and the positive points of the
individuals. It can result in systematic and better communication among the different employees
of the organisation. It is responsible for more and more utilising the plus points of the
organisation and also improving the weaker areas which could further help in increasing the
productivity.
