able to perform well in an organisation. It is important factor to arrange the training
activity for development of business.
1.3 Specific Situation and recommendation for improvement in an organisation
Improvement is the key factor to increase business in proper way. Company require
improvement in behaviour as an HR of an organisation. In the above report of TESCO they
manage the programmes such as training, collaboration, celebration, workshop etc. By these
activities employees increase their interest on increasing sales (Spence and Hyams-Ssekasi,
2015). Food department employees check their quality and it is useful which may not have effect
the image of an organisation.
Maintain Relationship – For improvement I have to coordinate more and more people and make
myself confident. Workers those who are working under me I have to interact with them properly
and listen their issues. I have to encourage their performance so they behave friendly.
Training and Development – As a part of an organisation I should arrange the effective training
activities where new employees get effected and increase their interest (Turner, 2016). While
training programmes it is easy to understand each other.
As an HR Once the organisation work on these changes it moves to critical process and
get improve by this it is easy to achieve success in an organisation. To modify skills of myself by
implementing in communication (Nathan and Rajamanoharane2015). It is important key factor
where it describes management and compensation of staff where reward is provided.
1.4 Motivational techniques to improve quality of performance in an organisation
TESCO may use motivational techniques to raise the motivation of employees which it
performs better in an organisation. By this activity product is boosted and morale is increased. It
describes as follows: Positive Environment – Managers provide motivation by giving upbeat. Employees
encourage teamwork and ideas are shared with each others. Employees have to
acknowledge their learning and perform well their job. This process eliminate conflict if
it raises and they got freedom to work independently. Target setting They can set target for their employees to make a standard of the
employee's performance by setting their targets. Actual work of an employee to be done
where it presents the sense of Achievement, Responsibility, recognition and retention.

programmes into their daily work. Without any target employees work aimless that's why
employees offer clear achievable targets and quality to measure performance. Provide Incentives– Managers can set a minimum limit for their subordinates to perform
and which one cross the limits which is entitled to get the incentives accordingly.
Managers should provide incentives which employees put their effort in their work with
effective performance. Bonus considers such as by cash, gift vouchers, certificates. Regular work on feedback – Employees should work immediately on the feedback given
to employees which affect the impact on organisation (Deeley, 2013). Employees get
increasing their skills by getting feedback and implementing their mistake they learn how
to tackle issues. By working on feedback continuously it reaches at level of success.
Trust employees – Performance of employees reviewed by manager constantly call him
without any reason and feel lot of emotions it will demoralize the performance of
employees (Chang, 2015). Trust is the element where transformation leadership take
place which encourage better performance and it is very difficult to maintain faith to
managers among employees. It is easy to maintain faith by performing better and benefit
for an organisation.
TASK 2
2.1 Identify a work based problem and develop solutions to the problem
As I am working as a marketing manager in the TESCO so it is my responsibility to make
a proper change and development in the team which can help to the organisation to enhance their
performance against objectives. Most of the new employees are having some problems which are
related to their work. These freshers are not having the knowledge to perform their task in the
organisation so it is essential for the superior persons to analyse the basic cause of their
problems. These new joiners are not productive as company want so this lack of productivity is a
problematic situation for the company. So managers have to adopt these techniques to make
effective solutions of them:
Identifying of issues: Manager have to communicate with the persons which are facing problems
in the organisation (Lerman, 2013). They have to make proper discuss on their problematic
topics to analyse the basic cause of it's. This step help to the manager and as well as to the
4

employee to make a healthy relation in between the both. Observation of manager will be
supportive to identify the solution for that particular person.
Discussion with the management: Manager have to make proper discussion with the
management to make the proper solutions of them (Vig and Sharma, 2014). As they have
discussion with the employees they have to make proper arrangements for this. Mostly these new
joiners needs a proper training session so the management have to provide them training.
Conduct a training session; They have to conduct a training session with suitable medium e.g.
audio and video presentation(Deeley, 2013). It will increase the effectiveness of the employees
and as well as their work efficiency.
In this problematic situation, my communication, analysing, observation and analytical
skills are used to make a proper solution against the issue which is decreasing the performance of
our team.
2.2 Variety of styles and appropriate manner to various levels used in your work based problems
TESCO is an international company and each of the retail store has a proper hierarchy
structure of the management(Jackson, 2014). This management structure contains different
management levels which supports them to run their business activities effectively. They are
having different teams which are having a huge difference in the work so they have separate
goals. So all of these management levels are having different communication styles e.g. formal,
informal etc. so these communication can be used by me to communicate these problematic
situations with the employees and management. A brief is here on the above context regarding to
the communication on different level:
Top level management – The board members and top level management comes in this level and
mostly they prefer formal meeting to communicate with the managers and other persons. So I
will use formal meet with the management to make a discussion on the problematic issue. I will
show a power point presentation to them to describe the problem and how it is affecting the
organisation. After this I have provide them solution to take their permission to implement this
solution in the real scenario.
Middle Management – This is a communicating link between the higher and lower level
management, many types of departmental level comes in it (Rao, 2014). these manager are using
the both medium formal and informal meets. Managers used the formal meetings with their
higher authorities and informal meets with the subordinates. So they have used the both

communication style with the both management levels. I am also working in the middle level of
management so I have use an informal discussion with my level of managers which can suggest
me more better ideas to implement on this problematic situation. I will use a team time
discussion with them to make some changes in my solution for this particular problem which can
enhance the positive impact on the new joiners.
Lower Level – In this process employees and managers have to interact with others employers in
direct way. Mostly managers are using informal way to communicate with the employees
(Chang, 2015).
2.3 Effective time management strategies
Employees have many tasks which are provided by managers at the particular time in the
TESCO. It is the biggest issue where employees lose their motivation regarding their task and
responsibilities (Benson, Morgan and Filippaios2014). Some effective time management
strategies are here which are followed by the employees in the organisation:
Use of a planning tool: Managers of the company enhance on the time management so they
have provided a diary to each and every employee to maintain a time balance in their work and
in their time. Diary management helps them to note down their tasks which has to performed by
them in the day. I will show to my subordinates how to use a diary to manage time and by this
team members can set their schedule for next day also.
Set priorities: Managers are having focus on the time management so each and every
departmental manager are helping to their subordinates to set their priorities for them. It helps to
them work on prior things and after it they have to work on to others. Setting proprieties can help
to the team members to make changes in prior work to do first which can help to them to attain
all task in the day.
Time table: This is an effective strategy to manage time, employees wants to get free according
to their work shift so their managers put pressure on the strategy to follow by the employees to
increase their work efficiency and achievements.
It is important to work with proper management of time which they preplan everything
which is based on self improvement (Suleman, 2016). In this report employees should plan
regularly so they can relax, which they don't have to hamper with lot of burden.

TASK 3
3.1 Roles played as a team in your work-based situation
TESCO uses the process Belbin's theory which understand conceptual behaviour of an
individual working in organisation. Organisation is workplace where teamwork take place where
they work familiar among the staff members (Chang, 2015). It is necessary substance which
assist for the development of an organisation. This process supports to achieve goal and
objectives at workplace as follows: Planter – Mostly manager are play these role in a team which present the new ideas to
perform more business activities by the employees (Motivational Techniques, 2010). This
describe about innovation and implementation in solving issues. Top level of
management play this role and maintain policies of an organisation. In the marketing
team I am having a role of planter of new strategies and ideas which can help to the team
to work in better manner. Monitor Evaluator – This process refer evaluation of work among staff members. This
process measures the performance is completely done or not. Assistant manager play this
role to measure the work quality which helps to the management to manage a standard in
the work. Assistant manager “Mark” is having this role to monitor the performance of
team members against their goals which can help to manage a standardized performance
of team. Resource Investigator This role is also related to the manager which helps to the team
to find out effective resources to perform their business activities. These peoples suggest
employees how to perform business activities. They allow junior or low level employees
to share ideas among top level employees. Co-ordinator Senior team members plays this role in a team and they suggest their
team members to achieve target and objectives in TESCO. They have work to make
coordination in the team to perform towards their targets. Team worker All of the team members play this role to attain the team objectives
which are a part of the company. They mainly contribute and focus to achieve goal. They
use their skills which make their task effective and represent team.

Shaper - It is the process where employers are offer for challenges which increases
performance in an organisation (Deeley, 2013). They focus to impose some methods on
the programmes related to employees which is most effective and efficient. Implementer – It discloses about employees who perform their actions and strike balance
between perseverance and adaption. Employees focus on their strength to clarify
objectives.
Completer Finisher – It tells about those employees which consider great capacity and
complete their task properly (Vig and Sharma, 2014). An efficient employee who doesn't
need much guidance through their task. They try to avoid overload of task and perform
their work effectively which contain quality.
These peoples are working together in the company to produce the work as a team, it helps to the
different teams which are having these team members.
3.2 Analyse team Dynamics at workplace
Team dynamics can be improve in the different stages of team development in the
TESCO as per the Tuckman's models of team development;
Forming: It is a starting phase of the employees where all of the employees are new in the a new
team, in this they are having normal introduction with each others. Team manager can analyse
who has a special skills and they can work accordingly on their post.
Storming: It is the second phase of the employees in which the employees who do not interact
with each other and are not of same nature become rivalry of each other. Conflicts arises
between them and it reduces the organisational efficiencies. In this stage leader and followers
occur in the front which is beneficial for the team manager for their future small marketing
teams.
Norming: In this phase all the employees helping each other and share their ideas, issues with
each other. their behaviour become normal with each other. They are start working together for a
common goal of the organisation. In this stage manager determine different teams according to
the dynamics of the team members e.g. analyser, leader, manager, numerical calculation for
market demands, etc. which can be help full for the company to attain their targets in a smoother
manner.
Performing: In this phase they start performing their task and reduce their conflicts of there and
start perform their work as effective as they can.

3.3 Alternative ways to complete a task and achieve goals
Such as there are many alternative methods to complete task and achieve target at
workplace in an organisation. Alternative methods are described as follows:
Learn New skills Management can provide new trainings to their under taken emoployees to
increase the performance of them. Manager or trainer has contribution on their work effectively
which increases level of knowledge of staff members (Mansour and Dean, 2016). It helps in
organisation to achieve target and to provide better service in supermarket sector.
Short time goals- Marketing manager can set short deadline goals for the team members which
can help to them to improve the performance of the team members which can motivate them to
work under pressure situation in a better way.
Leadership – It is important work for management of TESCO which help to encourage
employees and match need of an organisation (Miller, Biggart and Newton, 2013). Leaders can
help in the work of the managers to provide a guidance in their work. They perform well so they
don't have to acquire any suggestion for development.
Break a task in to smaller teams- The marketing manager of the TESCO can break a task in to
smaller teams which can help to them to accomplish a task in short deadline. For an example
market analysis for a particular geographical area has to be completed in to two days so
marketing manager can set 2-3 teams to gather data from the market which can be help full for
the organisation to accomplish task in a set deadlines.
Motivation It is important and vital factor for management to complete their task to attain their
objectives. Manager responsibility to encourage their employee by their appreciation of
performance (Jones, 2013).
TASK 4
4.1 Appropriate tools and methods for developing solution
There are different methods which helps in focusing on the different aspects of the
problems which helps in resolving the problems. They have to apply appropriate tools and
techniques which assist in resolving the problem. Management of TESCO include many ways
and techniques developing solution to problems. It is detailed below as follows:
Algorithm – This is a tool which helps in identifying the problems so that they can attain
accurate results which is beneficial for the staff members so that they can maintain the standards.
9

This method is not applicable in the practical situations of TESCO because it is effective for the
mathematical calculations so it TESCO can use it in to the mathematical problems but not in the
behavioural problems.
Heuristics – This method helps in solve the problem but only easy problems can be solve by this
method(Guzman and Choi, 2013.). In the company problems arise one by one and in the
continuous process and manager have to solve that in time otherwise they can not achieve the
goals and objectives.
Trail and error method – This method is used by TESCO which helps in resolving the problems
which are faced by staff members. Along with this they have to implement new ideas so that they
can make the changes according to the situation. It is an effective method which can be used by
the TESCO in the practical conditions because team manager and higher management can make
some solutions on a particular situation and the management can try the solution on the problem
and make some effective modification according to the need of problem.
Sudden decrease in the demands of Dyson Cleaner product of TESCO is a problem for
the sales and marketing team so it is essential for the managers to make some effective solution
against this problem as soon as possible. So trail and error method will be used by the company
and according to this problem, marketing manager can apply different solution to improve sales
e.g. they can promote discount offers on the purchase of product if the sale is not increase they
can improve discount rate and promote in those geographical areas in which they have made less
promotions. So these types of changes can be used in the trial and error method by the
organisation.
4.2 Appropriate strategy to resolving the problem
Management of the TESCO have to use effective strategy to resolve the problems and
conflicts in between the employees and management. As company has a downfall in the sales of
the Dyson Cleaner so a strategy is here to use by the management and manager to reduce the
conflicts of the employees and management:
Identification of problems Managers have to identify the problems by proper analysing of the

2014). So, they understand complexities form in every department and it is the main cause for
creating issues at workplace. This process will help to find out the resolution. They have to
