Task 1 Be able to determine own responsibilities and performance
Introduction
The task is carried out to develop an analysis of self-objectives as well as performance while
working as an Assistant manager in Travelodge (Wihler, et al. 2017). In addition to the same, the
below writing showcase the effectiveness of evaluating personal objectives. While working for
the mentioned post Travelodge, I have evaluated myself and have provided certain
recommendations in order to improve my performance within the travel and tourism business.
1.1 Develop a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
Working in a well-known travel and tourism sector is highly demanding as well as difficult task.
For meeting the expectations and demands of the tourists and management, there are a certain set
of self-responsibility and objectives to evaluate personal performance further (Mencl, et al.
2016).
As an Assistant Manager in Travelodge Hotel, I have identified certain skills which I possess as
well as those I lack in or need to develop. One of the significant role and responsibility while
working in a hospitality business is adaptability, it is because the various type of changes takes
place within the workplace due to which it becomes the most difficult task for me to carry out
operations. Furthermore, it can be said that to deal with everyday changes and challenges, it is
necessary for a manager to be adaptable in order to handle different situations.
On the other hand, it has been assessed that as per the described expectations of Travelodge, its
managers must be proficient as well as capable enough to lead the overall running of the hotel
business. Motivating employees is however the greatest responsibility as a manger which I have
to take care of the most. Decision-making role is another responsibility of nine while working in
Travelodge as an assistant manager (Fernandez, et al. 2015).
Another fundamental objective for performance improvement in the travel and hospitality sector
involves employment legislation and legal standards where my main focus is to comply with the
professional standards in the travel and tourism sector.

1.2 Evaluate own effectiveness against defined objectives
The defined objective for the post of manager set by Travelodge is to maximize or increase sales
and profit in order to meet the target market’s expectations and need. However, this can be
achieved by being an effective communicator in order to engage with clients or guests easily.
In order to accomplish the performance objectives being set by the cited hotel brand, various
tasks are underlined to improve own performance or productivity while working as a manager
for Travelodge (Ebrahimi Mehrabani and Azmi Mohamad, 2015).
For the above objective, I have adopted formal review systems such as appraisal through which it
will be easier to evaluate past and present workplace performance. Moreover, it can be said that
supervision is another effective strategy through which I can identify the areas where
improvement is required as well as can support me to evaluate my productivity within the
mentioned travel and tourism firm.
Another effective technique I have identified to evaluate my performance as well as to meet the
standards and objectives of Travelodge is taking peer reviews. Evaluating oneself with the help
of peer review such as taking feedbacks from team members or colleagues as well as senior
managers is helpful to identify the skills or knowledge in which I lack.
Furthermore, it can be said that the tactic of 360-degree evaluation will also be supportive as I
can significantly evaluate the areas where improvement is required. Additionally, this can be
effectively done by taking feedback from people I work such as colleagues or team members as
well as senior managers (Matteson, et al. 2016). From the analysis and strategies used, I have
identified that my communication, problem-solving and time management skills do not meet the
set standards of Travelodge for people working in the managing department.

Motivational techniques significantly help in determining the capability of employees or
individuals within the travel and tourism sector in order to deliver effective services to the guests
or clients as per their needs and expectations (Peng and Mao, 2015). With the help of Herzberg's
two-factor theory will help me as an assistant manager in Travelodge to motivate employees and
lead them towards satisfaction to work within the hotel business. However, there are both
satisfying and dissatisfying factors present in the theory which differently influence the team
members or individuals working in the company.

Dissatisfying aspects contains policy of the organization, wage, work environment and inclusive
association with colleagues which directly declines level of motivation and leads to weakening
